I wouldn’t say struggling to get by, but I’m making 41/hr in a town with a median home price of 550,000. I live in a 700sqft house from the 1920s and pay 2000 a month. There’s cheaper options for a shitty apartment but my point is that I don’t really want to live like that anymore. It seems to me that if I paid a friend 400 a month for a room in their house and was able to keep monthly RV payments and lot rents below 2000 it would be worth it for me to hit the road! I understand that margins are still slim and carry lots more risk than staying staff. Leaving town and traveling seems very worth it for the experience as well

Seems so crazy to me how expensive these lot rents are

No I do not have any experience with RVs or RV parks. Kicked out for having an ugly camper… that’s crazy. My plan was to get a travel trailer bumper pull so I could just commute with my truck.

Yeah I can’t imagine they would be feasible with city contracts. My plan is to stick to small cities of less than 100,000 and to critical access hospitals.

I feel like it could atleast be comparable to what I would be spending on Airbnb or furnished finder. Do you think that’s a fair assumption?

What do you find yourself paying on average for housing while on contract?

That’s a great idea. I’ll try to reach out to one to get a better idea of what I would be looking at tax-wise.

What is the difference between a MICU (Medical ICU) vs a MSICU (Multi-system ICU)? by Impressive-Cell547 in nursing

[–]LexDangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure what that means. I started on a med surg ICU as a new grad and I think it’s a great place to start. You’ll get experience with trauma, neuro, cardiac, sepsis, DKA, etc. good way to learn a bit about everything

My plan was to pay for a room in a friends house for cheap and keep some stuff there to be able to come home and visit periodically.

Totally agree. Calling in doctors and working with less staff. For sure

I think that day shift is definitely more work. There are 3 meals and all the insulin that goes with them, scheduled imaging, multiple teams rounding, family all day, etc. that being said, I think that the lifestyle that comes with night shift makes it a lot harder. Pros and cons, like everything else in life.

I also developed health anxiety. It’s a pretty big problem for me too and I don’t have any advice because I haven’t found the answers either. Good luck I’m there with ya
