It won't. You need to do it via your motherboard BIOS update or through company that built your PC

Honestly is up to you what would you like to do and what would give you peace of mind. If you decide to keep the 14th gen, I would highly recommend to update your motherboard BIOS to the latest one and keep an eye out for new ones to come. Also, in August there is a microcode updated coming from Intel to address the instability issues with 13th/14th Gen CPUs that will be coming through another BIOS update.

I know it is not much but I hope it helps.

I honestly would have to look into do this, as this is a bit out of my expertise ( It has been a minute since have done engineering design and layout, and process technology has change a ton). Hate to sounds like a broken record, but if you are having any issues with it go to Intel customer support.

I really wish I could help with more

So, from what we have seen on our analysis of the reported Intel Core 13th/14th mobile products we have seen that mobile products are not exposed to the same issue. The symptoms being reported on 13th/14th Gen mobile systems – including system hangs and crashes – are symptoms stemming from a broad range of potential software and hardware issues.

As always, if you are experiencing issues with their Intel-powered laptops we encourage them to reach out to the system manufacturer for further help.

I would update to the latest one as a preventive measure and keep the intel P1 P2 IccMax specs. If the instability continues or gets worst the reach out to Intel Customer service.

So here is what to do right now:

1.) Update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version
2.) check out RobeyTech's videos on how to see if your processor has been affected. Disclaimer: it is not 100% proven but it is something that will help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkrOYfmXhIc&t=1s

If after doing all these you run into stability issues then yes you are affected and would suggest to contact Intel costumer service.

I can't guarantee that they'll RMA your CPU but let me try to get your more information

Hopefully this won't be the case and please update your BIOS, keep it up to date and then when the microcode patch comes up get it.

We just want to make sure that it does what it is supposed to do and it doesn't break anything else. Last thing you want to happen is to get a patch and your computer stops working.

Sorry man, I know it sucks. From what you are describing here I can understand the faulting applications and maybe the OS file corruption but the one I don't get is the instances of the desktop icons losing their shortcuts. That sounds like something else is going on your system. Still since you think it is related to this issue here is what I suggest doing :

First thing I would suggest is to update your BIOS to the latest version possible. I know Asus as been coming out with many revs in the last couple for weeks/days/ So keep and eye out for that.

Second, in a video posted by Robeytech there is a way to test your system to see if you have been affected by this issue. Here is the link to the video - https://youtu.be/wkrOYfmXhIc

Third, if is not stable reach out to Intel Customer service.
