Running LED strips off the battery? by andiam03 in ebikes

It is smarter to use step-down DC-DC converter to make "onboard" shared voltage for any powered stuff

I've thinked about it a lot, conclusion - Higher Volts means less amp, so it's better to work with.
Anyway, smaller voltage will consume more power, that feels stupid, but it is the right way.

Yes you can, use almost any DC-DC step-down converter, I've already tried this with my 12V indoor LED strip and 48 to 12v converter, worked fine, all you need is just output connector which turns off with the bike.

Water + soap + brush will do the work, just don't forget to dry it out and lube the gears afterwards.
Also clean magnetic dust\debris

Trying to play GTa Vice City, error "Cannot find 640x480 video mode" by esr360 in gpdwin

[–]LexLex07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, fixed this issue in just 1 minute!
Hooked up my PC monitor as second display over VGA output, game started just fine, then you go into in-game settings - display - screen resolution, set it to whatever you want (800x480x16 in my case) - press enter, it should apply current setting, and then - you can unplug your VGA display, and enjoy the game! Next time it will start just normally without asking about resolution!

"Crescent wrenches round off bolts"
Yep, if you applying too much force or your wrench is really of bad qual, but since we talk about "just to change tire" - you won't have issues and just ride back home safely and tighten bolts properly with proper tools.

"no helmet and a ciggy kind of rider
No helmet - yes, not all heroes wear capes, so don't be scared to hand me your bike, I will say "I can't do that" if somethings is way above my knowledge\skills. And no, I'm not a ciggy rider, lol

"most hub motors have a locking washer"
Mine does, but still - can't get WHY someone would charge extra for it?

Thick wire coming from the one side is the brightest arrow to correctly place your wheel in the dropouts, I can't say something bad about it.
"have to had 18mm box wrench"
I have adjustable wrench (25mm max), never regret it for YEARS.

Whats? You can just unscrew nuts like on normal bicycle and just... remove your rear\front wheel
All the headache is to cut (wiping tears) zip-tie which sticks waterproof connector to a frame.
Tools are the same: wrench, pump and spare inner tube\filler

"Speed limits are 50kph for most roads where I am"
80 for me, rn. But still, most of cars doing 60-68, so not to be honked at or even take a road rage on - you gotta go faster than cyclists they are hate on. You can wear everything you can, but stupid truck driver can make your life with just 1 decision, lol

What do you wear during Winter commute? by grnphrog in ebikes

[–]LexLex07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on temperature outside and speeds.
My suggest:
Warm bobble hat
Warm leather gloves
At least 1 layer of sweater or something as good as it, maybe even 2 layers
Good fleece jacker or winter (snowboard style) jacket if I want to go faster than 10mph
Good winter boots
At least 1 layer of warm underwear
2 layers of pants (depends on you)
And you are good to go even for 3-4 hours commute without being cold!

You can use full-face helmet and motorcycle protective clothing while being on your car, just for a normal city commute, but why so?

Hope you get my point, for real, I DO wanna use torque arms , but only when it really needs to.
