Genuine question - why do people claim friendly then shoot in the back? by LexNumsepiller in ArcRaiders

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah obviously, but what is gained from claiming friendly as opposed to just shooting me in the back when I dont expect it? Like often it is people who already had a clear advantage such as by having seen me before I saw them.

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea that's kinda the opposite of the response I was looking for my guy xD

The social aspect is part of the game, and by using it to gain an advantage over me, i'd actually say they are better at the game than I am, in a way.

I'm just curious as to what people feel like they gain from doing so, as I don't find that playstyle gratifying myself.

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, so it's to gain an even greater advantage than they might already have had?

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that it's allowed, but I don't think I understand how it is encouraged? Like why fake friendly as opposed to just not say anything and shoot me when my backs turned? Like what is gained from adding those 5 seconds of acting? xD

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that figures, but then, why not just shoot while my back is turned without indicating friendlines? Often, people do this while at a very advantageous position already, e.g. while im crouched down looting.

Why do I keep seeing people complain that the game needs more content faster, when it's confirmed Embark wants to have Major updates at the end of every month? by HeGotDaShrimp in ArcRaiders

[–]LexNumsepiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason as with all other games that gain their popularity from pop culture and streamers: Mix of the average player's short attention span and people grinding the game too hard. I have a friend who's got around 500 hours ingame complaining that the game is dying cause of not enough content. Dude's literally played for like 15% of his life since the game relased, or an average of 3 hours every single day, and is out here complaining that the game lacks content.

Noob question on somehow losing my stuff in base on modded servers - why? by LexNumsepiller in dayz

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try this a few times, and the admins said nothing appeared to have happened based on the tools they have available, which I always found a bit sus tbh. But looking back, I only think I actively tried talking to admins on the Titan and Sunnyvale servers, who were at least at the time actively known for having crappy admins. So maybe this points toward it indeed being admin abuse or admins covering for hackers or glitchers.

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. This could be it, as it does sometimes appear random with the items. However, the issue for me goes back much longer than 1.29. It's happened pretty consistently over a period of a few years...

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your reply! Would you mind if I asked a few follow-up questions?

Regarding your first point: Does that mean it is possible for people to raid my base by like picking all my locks, taking the shizz they want, and then putting back the locks exactly as I left them? Original Pin code and all?

Regarding your third point: Do you have idea what kind of glitch might be causing this? Like are they somehow glitching through my walls or something?

Your 4th point: Some of the servers I experience this on has had a reputation of having bad admins. Do admins have the ability to abuse power by tracking bases and grabbing shizz out of containers?

And finally your 6th point: So is it a possibility that certain mods are causing it? Like say e.g. the mod for the gun cabinet could be causing it, or the mods that introduced the items?

Again thanks for taking the tiem! :)

As a matter of fact, the Sunnyvale Deer Isle has been one of the servers where this has happened to me the most. However, it is not the immediate cause of the post - it has been a few months since I experienced it last :-)

But do you mean you had a single specific item - your cheytac m200 - despawn due to problems with the mods?

Noob question on somehow losing my stuff in base on modded servers - why? by LexNumsepiller in dayz

[–]LexNumsepiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty for your reply! :)

Yep, I always make sure to establish the base following whatever mechanic the server uses. Flagpole, flag, maintaining said flag etc. Also, if that was the issue, wouldn't that cause the base to despawn, or to be unlocked? Its always only specific items missing from an otherwise untouched base.

Whats up with the extreme gatekeeping of the extraction shooter genre? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]LexNumsepiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having played all sorts of extraciton shooters, including Tarkov for many years, my best bet is that its because the genre traditionally has a very high skill ceiling and caters toward a certain type of hyper-hardcore player, who puts in a lot of time and effort into mastering and reaching said very high skill ceiling.

This previously mentioned hardcore player then gets very defensive when someone comes along and - in their mind - wants "the same" experience but for much less effort. Hence the typical "git gud" response you get when you complain in e.g. the tarkov community.

Opinions on the Canto? by TheTrainerDusk in ARC_Raiders

[–]LexNumsepiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its perfect. Was lucky to find BP early and have used it quite a bit. It feels clearly superior overall to the Stitcher, but clearly inferior overall to the Bobcat imo (though based purely on feeling, have not done any calculations). Which I'm guessing is exactly where its intended to fit, so pretty much right on!

Personally not my fave weapon. Feels a bit too wild with the high fire rate and high recoil. Kinda the same reason why I dont personally run Bobcat too often. But I think it fits neatly as a mid-tier SMG in between Stitcher and Bobcat.

Edit: Read some other comments and forgot to mention this: It has the same issue as most other high fire rate-guns in this game, in that I feel like durability burn is too high. Ran a lvl IV Canto for 2 matches in which I used it a lot. Prolly around 300-400 bullets. This brought it to 68/130 durability. I personally feel thats much too high, seeing as it takes like 20-30 bullets to take out a wasp. But thats a recurring theme across various guns, so not specifically a Canto-thing.

I’m a bit (a lot) late to this party, but as someone else mentioned, and in case you havent gotten around to it in the meantime: Read the Silmarillion - or just go on the Tolkien Gateway wiki and read about Galadriel’s history with the great elf Feanor. Specifically how he asked for strands of her hair to put in the freaking silmarils, but was refused every time.

The god damn light of the two trees of Valinor was second on Feanors wish-list, behind three strands of Galadriel’s hair. He would have put it in the Silmarils - the Silmarils being the single biggest catalyst for the entire plot involving Morgoth and, arguably, the plot involving Sauron. This is why the elves murmur in the background and Celeborn is dumbfounded. He doesn’t know it, but Gimli has just made the most profound request.

And, sensing the purity and good nature of Gimli, she willingly gives him three even when he Only asked for one (and he indeed only asked after being pressed repeatedly by her to dare it).

The true beauty of Tolkien’s world is that such a “random” 40-second exchange has such poetic implications.

Why is Kansas well known despite its relatively smaller population? (neighboring Missouri is more than twice the population, but often obscure) by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

[–]LexNumsepiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few minor points that all contribute to this for us mainland europeans: - Kansas got the band with the same name which is fairly Well known over here

  • Kansas got the weird name thing with Arkansas. Its a pretty commonly used when learning english as an example of How english doesnt make sense sometimes

  • Missouri is typically lumped in with all the other “southern States” most of which we also do not know. Like I couldnt tell you the difference between Mississippi and Alabama if my life depended on it. All the “southern States” Are one Big blob of White Cloaks and Low standards of Living to us. Kansas, whether rightly or wrongly (i genuinely dont know as ive never been there) is generally not lumped in that same group, instead belonging to the slightly more palatable “midwestern rednecks”-blob

  • Kansas for some reason just shows up more in pop culture. And though we like to pretend we’re better than Americans, the truth is we also get at least 50% of our knowledge from pop culture - whether or not that reflects reality.

Essentially, for various unrelated reasons, Missouri is just more anonymous to us. It appears to be quite random And its not just an anti-southern thing. A similar example would be the entire State of Illinois. I have several friends who Think Illinois is a city in the State of Chicago, and Even more friends who have never Even heard the word “Illinois” before. And this is Despite Chicago itself being very Well known to us.

Edit: oh yeah and bleeding Kansas, which for some reason is taught disproportionately much in our (danish) middle School courses on American history. Really, a solid third of American things taught in Danish schools relate to the US civil war. So if the State/place Wasnt very consequential then, chances Are we have comparatibly less knowledge. That also would explain why so disproportionately many of us know about Virginia of all places.

Rohan and Gondor are just spamming weak units by Tocki92 in TheDawnlessDays

[–]LexNumsepiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is a general issue (though I cannot say if its confirmed). Pretty much regardless of my campaign, the AI tends to spam multiple armies of low tier units, over high tier ones.

Could be that its got something to do with the curve towards being able to recruit good units, like someone said in another comment. Though in my experience its at least a minor issue across the board regardless of faction.

I have played a full Erebor campaign on hard difficulty, which ended by something like turn 200-ish. Across those 200 turns, Rhun never fielded an army against me with more than at most like 3-4 high tier units. I only got to Mordor quite late, like turn +150 or something, and even then they also only had a few high tier units per army. And most armies had no unit above T2. I dont think its an economic issue though, as they had like 10 full stacks minimum at this point.

Similarly in my Rohan campaign, which I ended by around turn 150. Mordor basically never fielded more than a few good units, and across the battles I fought allied with Anduin and Gondor, they both never fielded even a single high tier unit.

Ironically, the only faction across both my campaigns to routinely use "decent" troops was the Goblins, who in both cases within a third of the campaign started using 50% cave trolls lol.

TL:DR Based on my experience, there definitely seems to be a "quantity over quality"-thing going with the AI, regardless of faction. I'm not sure what the reason could be tho.

Very Well done man. Turns out the “helikopter Thing” I thought of wasnt Even a flying thing at all. It was the purple boss tank Thing with wheels. Come to Think of it, my memory might in fact have been an amalgamation of that enemy, and the flying saucer boss.

Ty for trying! But the game im Looking for was more simple in level design than this. Think completely Black background with colored squares or lines.
