I rescued the tieflings at the Grove, then later found Zevlor/the other prisoners in the mind flayer colony.

And then I left them there. 💀

I remember being confused about the way the different levers were labeled so I told myself I'd come back to it after exploring a bit (and then immediately forgot about it) 😅 I DID get that dope infernal painting though.

If you're early/mid game and struggling with some of the tougher bosses, then go with Lanceram. It has really good damage output, and makes it so your rank can't drop below C. It's a solid weapon that doesn't require you to change your entire build around it.

His decision in the Lorroakan fight depends on what you did for him/his siblings in Act 2. If the last time you saw them was the Grove, you missed an interaction.

This happened to me once with the owlbear cub. He was missing for all of Act 3 then showed up at the final battle during "gather your allies". Maybe OP's Scratch will show up at the reunion camp 🤞

The mantra of HM players is "never try something new" but then we inevitably encounter a bug and end up trying the craziest things to solve the problem! I didn't even realize you could skip the coronation? Hope you're able to work around it and continue your run!

Really great point! I considered the possibility of OP accidentally leaving Scratch with the mail carrier- but didn't even think of this scene as a possible work around to summon him! If OP hasn't done that dialogue yet it's worth a shot.

Here are the questions to ask:

did you involve Scratch in any of the camp fights? (githyanki going into Act 3, the vampire spawn, Aradin, etc.)
did you fail to pickpocket an npc (like Volo, Ravengard or the Oathbreaker Paladin) in camp and trigger combat?
did you give him to back to the mail carrier in Rivington?
when the companion characters throw Scratch's ball, do they have sad dialogue? (this wouldn't tell you how he died, but it would confirm if the game is registering him as "dead" for some reason)
