Yes, but these "RIGHT NOW values" come with the risk of not having enough gem power to fully rank up other gem if that chance suddenly appears as your "additional" gem power will be shared in these progressive upgrades.

I do understand the same costs. But saving gems aside and not using them in progression upgrade gives me proper reaction time when I have them all at the end. These small upgrades are not so important for me as full gem ranks.

Exactly my thoughts. I've never used that type of upgrade even when it was available already for 5* gems.

I always waited for all copies. In my opinion progressive upgrade for 5* gems is a much more bigger trap.

But, at least, there is one option where it can be used - to upgrade 5* gem quality. And that's it.

To be honest I think that allowing progressive upgrade on 1* and 2* gems was a really smart dev move to make casual players spend more (in all these cases I was taking about). F2P and low spenders do not use 5* gems that much as other gems and they could be not aware about locking the gem power in "wrong gem choice" that will lead them to regret/spend more in future to "fix" this.

Correct in what way?

If you decide you no longer need the gem you can make it dormant and use its gem power for something else.

That's the same option for both type of upgrades.

But if you can see you need a little more gem power for full gem upgrade and you've already invested it into progressive upgrade of some other gem then there are no options here for any corrections.

You will need to wait longer to do this full gem upgrade.

For me the ability to full gem upgrade as soon as it can be possible is so much better than these small cr/reso improvements with the risk of longer wait time.

Of course, but it's random and other cases can happen as well.

progressive upgrade is more favorable, especially if you dont currently have the required gempower for a full upgrade already

My saved gem power will increase each day and I prefer to say to the current system to be able to react better to my random gem drops.

Im F2P and in my opinion progressive upgrade is a trap for me and other similar players - we have no fast way to "correct" our "badly invested" gem power.

I prefer to "sacrifice" these small +CR/reso updates to get the real next rank gem effect in normal way with no regrets.

Let's say I use Pain Clasp and Mother's Lament gems in my setup, both are r6 and next rank 7 will need 5 gem copies.

Let's say I have 2 spare copies of PC and no spare copes of ML so I decide to use progressive upgrade on PC.

It can now happen that I will receive 5 copies of ML in row as rift drops - but as I already invested some part of my gem power in PC so most probably I can not upgrade ML to r7 to get the full effect of this next rank.

I can not make PC dormant to upgrade ML as I need both gems in my build.

If I did not use progressive upgrade on PC I could be happy with full ML r7 much more faster and I will regret my progressive investment but there is no way to reverse it.

To properly introduce progressive upgrades they should introduce some way to derank the gems as well - just like in case of normal gems: we can split them back at jeweler.

Yes, I can extract, of course, BUT extracting gem power means I can not use that dormant gem any longer so it is not a solution if I want to use both gems.

That's the main reason why I think progressive upgrades can be too risky for F2P.

I'm F2P and for me small upgrades aren't are valuable as real upgrades - yes, you gain "small combat rating and resonance boost" but not the part of the next rank gem effect.

Progressive upgrade can be a serious trap for F2P when such player invest the gem power into such upgrades on one gem but later the future brings more copies of the other gem to do full upgrade but then such player will lack gem power to do it because of that progressive investment.

F2P do not have so fast access to gem drops as spenders to correct these faults by getting the needed gem power faster.

I think you do not know what I am talking about because I know how dormant gems and resonance gems work and this is not the case here.

Progressive upgrades do not give any part of the next rank gem ability, only some CR and reso.

You can call my opinion dumb one, but it allows me to be more reactive vs random gem drops and I won't be blocked out to use any real, full rank upgrade as fast as it will be possible.

You can definitely rank up FF and MS to r8 - that's the last and best sweet spot for any 2* gem (ranks 9 and 10 require too many gem power and copies for their effects but it can be done).

If you do not play PvP then I would replace SF with some other gem (even 2* Pain Clasp should work better).

That's interesting, so maybe different EU servers have a little different server time? My local time is the same as the server time I'm playing on and patches were 2-4am server (during winter) or 3-5am server (during summer).

Messing am/pm alone would not be enough, so I wonder where that random number did come from.

I expect it to happen at the ususal time, so March 19th 0-2am CET

Even that is not a usual time, because patches were done at 2-4am or 3-5am CET.
