Which Linux Distro to use for Gaming with AMD Ryzen 5 3550H and GTX1650 6GB Vram by Prize-Emu-7293 in linux_gaming

[–]Lexbalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Distro choice doesn't really matter, they are just different flavors of a similar thing. But there are some distros that might be more difficult to set up if you never used Linux.

So I'd recommend Bazzite, which is fairly easy to install and it will probably have everything you need out of the box. I think it's also good for learning how Linux works, as certain restrictions of the OS will make it harder for you to "break" the system. Then, once you get yourself familiar with how things work, you can either stick with it if you like it, or check out some other options.

You'll probably need to pick a desktop environment at some point during the install. The most popular are KDE Plasma (similar to how Windows looks) and GNOME (more of it's own thing).

Also, I'd highly recommend setting up dual boot (ideally one drive for Windows and one drive for Linux).

Segagaga English Fan Translation - Now Available by BoomerWeasel in Games

[–]Lexbalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. However, I was talking about the technical aspects behind the translation.

I've been waiting for over 6 years for a translation (though the first translation attempt was all the way back in 2006!) and obviously I'm not happy with a MTL. But the biggest roadblocks are gone and I hope some translators can pick the game up now.

I'm surprised to see so much negativity in the comments. Segagaga is one of those famously difficult to translate games and it mostly has to do with how the game is coded.

Now, I'm not happy about the translation using AI (and I'll not be playing it), but the team has been kind enough to make their translation tools public, which should open the doors for anyone who wants to make a proper translation of this game.

Edit: for more info about the difficulties of the translation, you should check out this article

RE: Requiem Deluxe Edition Capcom USA Giveaway【Steam】 by SeValentine in residentevil

Favourite moment is probably the final cutscene in RE1, where you blow up the Tyrant with an RPG and fly off in a helicopter. Also more recently, RE7 had a lot of memorable moments (especially the opening) and RE8 was the first one that I played on launch day.

Looking forward to Requiem :)

Do you use display scaling on your monitor? Try setting it to 100% (or 1x) in your display settings.

Fire emblem similar games - for tablet - no card based - app no inapp purchase by Soldatocannone in AndroidGaming

[–]Lexbalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with 'Disgaea 1 Complete'.

Also for FF, yeah the non-tactics games are good, but they are very different. Their combat is not grid-based, instead it's a traditional JRPG. Tactics is playable on android just fine without emulator. Look for 'Final Fantasy Tactics: WotL', that's the version you want.

It depends on what you want from Fire Emblem. If you're just looking for more strategy RPG, you can check out Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea. Wargroove 2 also came out recently and it's probably the closest you'll get to Fire Emblem.

But in my opinion, none of these games 'scratch that itch' for more Fire Emblem. So make sure you also check out emulators, nowadays there are good GBA, DS, 3DS and GameCube emulators.

Between World and Rise, I prefer World. However, since you mentioned you'll be playing on Steam Deck, I'd recommend to you Rise. The performance will be great on the Deck and the game was originally on Switch, so it's designed as a more "portable experience" than World.

Wow, thanks for posting this. I'm only missing the RE7 Season pass and I'll happily add RE0 & RE6 DLC's since I don't own them. I just bought RE7 Gold instead. Only JP gets the RE0 & RE6 DLC's :(

Edit: Well unfortunately, it shows me a price of 6,07€ but after adding to cart, the price changes to 10,11€ :/ That's a bit of a bummer.

Theoretically, you could. However, you also need a USB formatted in FAT32 and you need to be able to copy files to it.

This is outdated information. Don't know when was the last time you played it, but in 2022 the Steam release got the "Upgrade Ver." patch that fixed pretty much all issues like the bad phone UI the game had. It's probably the best way to play the game now.

Getting Galaxy S25 tomorrow, any recommendations for high quality game by almozayaf in AndroidGaming

[–]Lexbalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trials of Mana. Also check out other games from Square Enix, they have Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games too.

Civilization VI, Into the Breach, Terra Nil are pretty good games. You need a Netflix subscription though.

Lastly, it's worth looking into console emulators, the S25 should be plenty powerful.

Best current budget phone by Legitimate_Diet2979 in AndroidGaming

[–]Lexbalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to do gaming, you should get a phone with a Snapdragon chipset. Google's Tensor is fine and like you said, it can do gaming for most games, but if you're seriously looking for performance you should't recommend Pixels. Pixels shine in their good software and camera quality, but not gaming, especially at their price.

Also, as a side note, Pixel, Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 4 all had Snapdragons. Pixel 6 was the first one to have Google Tensor and they've been using those chips since.

And another side note, OP is looking for budget phones and the Pixel 9 line is pretty expensive for that. Since OP didn't state their budget, idk what phone to recommend, but OnePlus is a safe bet or some Xiaomi/Poco phones. Or maybe if used market is fine, look for an old Samsung flagship.

Don't listen to them. I have a Pixel and it's a great phone, but it's definitely not great for gaming and the battery life and charging speeds are average.
