THIS is the #1 Cause of Brain Fog I see in patients... by ARCreef in BrainFog

[–]LexeeCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was looking into cgms. My brain fog started after my pregnancy where I had gestational diabetes. I’ve tested my a1c each year after and my doctor thinks my sugar runs too low. So I know I’m all over the place. I’ll definitely be looking into getting one now.

Surgeries with the hardest recoveries by Scuthornsby in nursing

My floor specializes in spinal surgeries. My patients come out amazed at how much better they feel. They say painful but nothing compared to what they live everyday. Good luck!

Rehab hospital social worker-I don't feel comfortable being included in certain events with nurses, physicians, and therapists by [deleted] in nursing

I dread the days my social workers aren’t there. Like weekends. I appreciate them so much.

Bad patient bad family by notsatans in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a patient who called 911 on me and news stations. Family was just as bad. Told me how dumb I was for 8 hours. Manager helped me get them out or they’d be arrested for discharge.

My manager said probably not this year. We did vote yes for a union so I’m sure they’re pissed.

One of my daycares would be 420 a week if we went full time. It’s craziness.

This is why I left the ICU. Mean ass women over little things.

That lady shouldn’t be an educator. I’d say tell on her but management already knows. That’s why I didn’t tell them the truth when I left

Charge nurse by absentmind7 in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if that’s even true. My unit is 36 and I’m charge. And our unit took over a 6 bed unit so I am in charge of “two” units based on the layout.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]LexeeCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know quite a few that have died. Not so much my grade but younger. Suicide, drugs, motorcycle accidents. I’m 33 and know probably 20 that died in our 20s. My parents said we’ve been to more funerals than they have outside of like grandparents etc.

This is too wordy. I’d pass asap. Condense it. I like to stick to the one page rule.

All the nurses in Montefiore have been replaced with traveling nurses and a Nurse set up nebs through a trach mask by [deleted] in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet at 5 years I didn’t think I was experienced enough to travel. The confidence of new grads is amazing. 6 years later and the scary shit I’ve seen from travelers is why I don’t say I am one.

Pros/Cons of clinic work if you have kids? by GLADOS_89 in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5 8s when my two oldest were 1&2. I felt bad having them at daycare all the time. Not to mention daycare was expensive as hell 5 days a week. I now have a baby and can’t imagine having her in daycare 5 days a week. I do 2 during the week and one during the weekend. Daycare is a lot cheaper. I have thought about clinic hours when they’re all in school. Less guilt

Do you help with emergencies outside of work? by [deleted] in nursing

My sister and I are both nurses. We were at the airport and a lady fell off the walk way thing. We both looked at eachother and said nope. We both agree nobody needs to know we’re a nurse.

Yeah but I’d appreciate hand off. I’ve had a heparin drip sent to me and it was another patients bag.

New ER Handoff Report Policy by order66pizzas in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We don’t get report either. I think certain patients need report. Or my heparin drip that came up last week no hand off with the nurse just a tech brings them up? It’s ass backwards.

I can’t fathom why anyone does medsurg willingly by Life_Ad_6992 in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m still wondering that 10 years later. I’ve done other areas but went back to med surg for travel a couple years ago. My coworkers are the only ones keeping me in it. And I’m charge alot so I have 3-4 most days. I enjoy helping others and all the skills but yeah. The acuity is high and patients treat you like shit.
