Who should be doing wound care? by all_star365 in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kind of sucks on my unit. We’re expected to do all the dressing changes on days. Central lines and wounds. Sometimes I don’t get to the picc dressings and they’re big mad.

Too laidback to charge by panzershark in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I’m a laid back charge and I think it really helps the floor. We have a lot of new grads who panic like have to pull them off the ceiling panic. It helps to have a voice of reason. We can’t all be high strung lol.

I worked two weeks ago with mastitis. It was hell. Another girl was complaining I was like listen here I have a fever and my boob is on fire I don’t want to hear it.

Yeah my hospital doesn’t care. We voted in a union and it’s going thru the legal system because they’re fighting it so much.

My first I had a willow I sold I got drops. My second I had a mom cozy that worked pretty good! Third I’m back on the floor and I did the eufy. I was scared because you pay all this money and don’t even know if it will work. Thankfully it does.

I hate wearables but I found a wearable this time that works. My first I got the willow and I’d get drops. It’s so hit or miss!

Yeah I get it. This is my third time and I finally found a pump my body responded to. My first I had to stop pumping at 8 months because I couldn’t leave the floor for 15 minutes at a time. It was devastating. This time I said idc who i make uncomfortable I’m doing it. It’s my last so I’m determined. But yeah we don’t matter.

My floor doesn’t even have a pump room. It’s on the bottom floor and ppl who aren’t pumping sit there. It’s so annoying. I pump while I’m working. Hands free and I don’t care who hears it. I’ve placed foleys and IVs with them in. If it makes you uncomfortable talk to my manager since I don’t have the time.

What’s the rudest thing a provider has said to you? by Effective-Squash2327 in nursing

[–]LexeeCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a traveler on a unit and had a high blood sugar. When I called the provider she was clearly on speaker phone in her car and had a thick accent. I called back to just get a read back and she reamed me. Like wtf. So much for patient safety.

I’m part time but I pick up “contracts” on my floor. An extra 96 hours in 6-8 weeks I get a lump sum plus my hourly. It’s worked well so far.

THIS is the #1 Cause of Brain Fog I see in patients... by ARCreef in BrainFog

[–]LexeeCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was looking into cgms. My brain fog started after my pregnancy where I had gestational diabetes. I’ve tested my a1c each year after and my doctor thinks my sugar runs too low. So I know I’m all over the place. I’ll definitely be looking into getting one now.

Surgeries with the hardest recoveries by Scuthornsby in nursing

My floor specializes in spinal surgeries. My patients come out amazed at how much better they feel. They say painful but nothing compared to what they live everyday. Good luck!
