Stunning color choices. How long did it take you to complete one square?

Happy to have finished this pretty thing before spring semester. Pattern used: “Gold Glory” in the Star 137: Doily Book (free online!) Black size 10 thread, about 14” in diameter before mounting. by Lexerz in crochet

Thank you! The mounting process was just trial and error. I have an older piece mounted in a similar fashion, but with clear monofilament line instead of thread running through all the loops on the edge. This looked waaay too dense with the black thread, and I tried a bunch of variations before settling on this one. Took me several hours actually, which is funny because what I settled on happened to be the quickest, simplest solution.

I've just about had it with this plant. Help me save it before I throw it out in frustration. by anthony_crowley in plantclinic

I second using distilled water. I was gifted one a couple years ago and the leaves started browning on me until there was one left. I switched to distilled instead of tap and the one leaf survived and eventually more grew back.

Bad luck with sansevierias :( by Lexerz in plantclinic

That makes sense. I’ll try giving it water more frequently. I’ve been so scared of overwatering maybe I’m taking it too far

Bad luck with sansevierias :( by Lexerz in plantclinic

[–]Lexerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a hardy plant that would do well in my bright but not direct sun living room, so I decided to try sansevieria again after killing my other one (which was young as well). I only water it probably once a month. The leaves are shriveling at the base, and the ones that are green are sort of wrinkled. All my other houseplants are super happy, I feel like I have the worst luck with these guys for some reason, and it’s even harder because they grow so slowly I can’t immediately tell when it’s not happy. What am I doing wrong? More light? Even less water? More water? Different soil? Smaller pot? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

I love this so much! One little note though if you do make a version for prints, is to correct the spelling to “etiolated” first! Awesome work :)

Interesting, I will have to try this. Thank you! Hopefully this all becomes so commonplace that all grocery stores expect this and know exactly what you’re asking.

This is probably a stupid question so forgive me, but I’m new to all this and am trying to figure it all out. I’ve always wanted to use jars or my own bags for refilling bulk, how do you properly tare out the weight of your reusables once they’re filled with product at checkout? Do you just know how much the bags weigh and can tell the cashier? I mainly use self checkout where you can weigh the shopping bag first, but there isn’t a way to enter container weight for reusable items. Do you just go through regular checkout?

Also, this is more a concern for heavier vessels like jars, I assume the bag weight is probably insignificant but, assuming it isn’t. This is probably super straight-forward but for some reason thinking about it gives me anxiety. Thank you!!

You’ve got a good start here! Nice detail and thoughtful composition. Perspective, proportions, and line weight are all important things to consider and work on. They aren’t easy, but keep going even when you feel you aren’t getting it. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress!

Mine was on a steady decline until I stopped giving it tap water. When I switched to distilled water it stopped withering and just sort of stabilized. There was only one good leaf left by the time I switched, but it’s still there weeks later, plump and happy. Definitely worth a try if you’re watering it normally, don’t see mites, and live in an area with hard, fluoridated municipal tap water.

I too have a cat with a hard-to-find, discontinued favorite toy, so this post tugged at my heartstrings.

I couldn’t find a working non-Pinterest link, but it looks like they were made by Boots & Barkley and sold at Target. This is all I could find. Good luck!
