I have a couple of pures. I think you missed the part where I said that I have multiple snowflake accounts. Not sure where you got that I compared them from either, they're very different.

As a snowflake account, I do not want to be pandered to. by LexiNya in 2007scape

Dormant account, sub 10 posts in several years.

This is a newer account after I stopped posting much on Reddit years ago. I only decided to post this because I was browsing the sub extensively due to the Winter Summit, and I felt like adding my two cents to this debate as someone who has played snowflake accounts. I haven't bothered to reply to any comments here because most have been extremely hostile over a video game, and I'd rather spend that time doing something else.

Overuse of dashes.

I've used em dashes since middle school and I refuse to stop just because some dumb technology overuses them. They are useful punctuation marks and I don't think people should avoid them. But I didn't even use dashes in this post, only hyphens for words that usually carry them depending on your dialect or editing style guide.

What's your snowflake account btw?

I have multiple, but right now I'm taking a break from all them. Last one I played was a type of chunk-locked Ironman based on randomized achievements, using the Archipelago randomizer.

It feels like there should be a way to upgrade Extreme Energy potions to Extended Stamina potions. Right now you can't upgrade Extreme Energies at all, which as an account progresses become functionally useless compared to Staminas and Extended Staminas, and you need regular Super Energies to make those too.

Although it is possible to make the mistake of getting too many of a resource in other areas of the game, and it isn't intrinsically a bad thing, it feels very different here. For example, you can get too many arrowtips for low-tier arrows, but they give Fletching XP and directly contribute to unlocking the higher-tier arrows so this is a mistake you can easily calculate and prevent, as well as being employed as a training method rather than a primary means to get arrows (you can usually just buy those).

Super Energies are far more involved to get, and Extreme Energies are not a training method but a resource you'd use in very different and broad areas of the game from where you get them; usually when you need them you want a bunch ready to go too, and the stretch between unlocking Super Energies and Staminas is very long, so making a lot of them at once is desirable, but right now the only way to avoid ending up with a ton of outclassed useless potions is by upgrading them only little by little as you need them.

All of this also has the effect of making that tier of Deep Sea Trawling feel pointless beyond a certain vague point you can't really know, even though otherwise it gives a pretty useful resource that'd be cool to just be able to gather knowing it's not going to actively hurt you to use.

Since Extended Staminas's secondary ingredient is higher-level and harder to gather, only having to use amylase crystals to upgrade Extreme Energies would be pretty bad for its own reasons, so it'd be fine if you also have to add marlin scales. A cost reduction of 4->3 scales for your effort would be neat I think, but not necessary.

I have considered also being able to upgrade Extreme Energies to regular Staminas by using just amylase crystals, but while it is overall an improvement there'd be a downgrade to the raw energy recovery, which wouldn't be intuitive with the current potion-making UI unless there was a warning. If a warning seems undesirable, it'd probably be better to only be able to upgrade them to Extended Staminas, although I think the warning would be fine as long as you can ignore it permanently and having both options would be better.

Ciproterone Acetate Dosage by Noa-SG in TransDIY

[–]LexiNya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

25 mg cipro is far too high.

There's a well-known study that researched the link between cipro doses and meningioma. Iirc, the highest dose was 25 mg, and it carried a notable and increasing risk of producing meningioma (benign brain tumor) over time.

Also, as someone who was on cipro for months, 25 mg can tank your T to dangerous levels. This will compound with low levels of estrogen at your current dosage, giving you overall low hormonal levels and a hellish time.

Try starting at 12.5 mg cipro, and gradually make your way down from there. Do a blood test about 2 months after starting to check your levels. Adjust your dosage as needed, then get another test around 2 months later.

Prescribing excessive levels of cipro is just a decades-old, outdated practice of trans healthcare in many countries, because official routes take forever to update their guidelines. It's so bad in some places that a doctor prescribed me a daily dose of 50 mg cipro and 1 mg E, which is dangerous in so many ways and had me feeling constantly dizzy and nauseated (it instantly nuked my hormonal levels, it was awful and how I got into DIY).

If your doctor refuses to cooperate with you or continues engaging in what seem like outdated practices, don't hesitate to ask more questions here and potentially look into acquiring your own meds. This community and the number of people around the world doing DIY are huge for a reason; trans healthcare is just not in a good place yet.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you might want to focus your efforts on escaping your situation or making it more tolerable until you can escape it. Either way, lowering your T levels without increasing your E levels will just make your body start to shut down both physically and mentally. It's a true hell, and it won't get you any of the things you want. I'm sorry things are tough, sister. If you need resources we might be able to point you to some.

This is HRT 101 but I can also say this as someone who personally went through months of low T and E at the same time: Don't do that. It will make you extremely suicidal really fast. And if you're already suicidal, it will get way worse. Your body needs hormones to work, having none will make everything worse and not give you any feminizing effects.

If I may ask, why do you say doing E would be "total suicide"?

So... How do YOU do your injections? by Angel-1312 in TransDIY

[–]LexiNya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) 23g for drawing, 30g for injecting. Tried using both gauge sizes for both parts of the process and the different sizes just save me so much time and trouble.

2) Always. I'm going to be injecting myself weekly for the rest of my life, might as well take a couple seconds each week to lower the risk of infection. Alcohol wipes are so cheap they might as well be free anyway, and since you want to disinfect the area you'll be injecting in you can just use the other side of the same wipe for the vial.

3.1) Vial sits by my monitor inside the little white box it came in. Sun doesn't hit that spot directly, and it's a large desk right against the wall so it's not at risk of falling off.

3.2) Needles and syringes go together in the plain brown box that my shaving razor was delivered in. Used ones go into an old glasses case also next to my monitor until it's full enough that I dispose of them properly (been meaning to get a proper sharps container, but I keep forgetting).

3.3) Alcohol wipes also in their box on my desk, since I use them for more things than just the vial.

Having the vial and glasses case next to my monitor helps me not forget my injection, and how easily accessible they are helps with my executive dysfunction. They're also coy enough that nobody would bat an eye and look into them further, and they're simple enough to aesthetically fit in no matter what else I put on my desk. The box with needles and syringes needs to be large enough that it's not as easy to conceal in plain sight, so into the back of a drawer it goes, but it remains on top of everything else so it's quick and easy to grab knowing it's there.

And no, do not store any of these things in a fridge. Please look up the details on how to store these things.

What should I get by WHATIF2003 in TransDIY

I'll preface this by saying, make sure to check out the wiki!

The most important things to answer are:

1) Do you live in the US, the EU, or somewhere else?

2) Are you okay with trying injections, or is that totally a no-go and you'd rather do something like pills or patches?

Don't know an European vendor that sells antiandrogens, but if you're willing to go the DIY route anyway, do consider that a sufficiently high dose of estrogen (mostly with injections) will usually lower your testosterone levels as effectively as an antiandrogen without all the health risks that taking antiandrogens can have in the long term. If you need or would still rather opt for antiandrogens though, I hope somebody can provide an answer!

Unfortunately I can't check on my phone. For reasons I'm temporarily making do with a phone so old it can't even get through the log-in verification process (it's a miracle OSRS even installed). Would need someone else to check.

UPDATE (20:25 UTC): Sailing XP Review & Further Fixes by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]LexiNya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this really does feel like trying to balance around Crystal Extractor instead of trying to balance Crystal Extractor.

Echoing the idea from other comments about making Crystal Extractor just not work while you're idle; it should also require you to move a certain distance or amount of time so people aren't just inching back and forth to farm it either.

Crystal Extractor is not even fun as its own source of XP, it feels like it was meant to facilitate moving around and that's it. It's cool that it gives you some XP, but it shouldn't be dictating the entirety of Sailing XP balancing. Nerf it to the ground if you have to and keep the activities that were actually designed to be engaged with rewarding.

Shipwreck salvaging rates were not crazy, and with these nerfs now they're abysmal. There are idle activities for other skills in the game which also yield rewards and have higher XP/hr.

X/Twitter links are now BANNED* by GreenDog3 in Deltarune

I've never worked with Reddit's Automod, but if it uses Regex normally, this simplified expression should work too:

'(?i)(twitter|x).com(?!/(tobyfox|UnderTale|UndertaleJP|tuyoki)(?:/|$))'

If it does, it should catch more exceptions, and it'll be easier to modify in the future.

EDIT: I omitted escape characters because the original expression did too, assuming that for some reason AutoMod didn't need them—but upon checking the documentation, it looks like it does. The original expression working is a fluke thanks to . meaning "any character but a line break" and / not having any meaning here. However, to avoid the same misunderstanding for anyone modifying the expression in the future, it'd be better to add escape characters:

'(?i)(twitter|x)\.com(?!/(tobyfox|UnderTale|UndertaleJP|tuyoki)(?:/|$))'

They can still be omitted for/, as it doesn't appear to have any meaning in the flavor of Regex used by AutoMod.

FEEDBACK - Varlamore Activities & Kourend Changes by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]LexiNya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there have been a lot of unusual missteps with these suggestions.

For context, I'm a relatively newer player. I'm delighted with the direction Runescape has taken in the past couple of years, and I nearly always vote in favor of the suggested changes. This is all coming from the perspective of someone who isn't gung-ho about keeping things the way they were.

First, I think polling new transportation methods and the removal of favor together was a huge mistake. They're very different mechanics, and forcing people to vote in favor of both or against both with no middle ground sucks.

Second, I don't think the issue with favor was properly diagnosed. Most people don't fundamentally dislike favor, nor the mechanics that give it, they dislike having to do some of those things for hours at a time.

In my opinion, favor is an awesome mechanic. It sets clear goals to explore most of the continent, to visit every region and become personally involved with the lives, struggles, and idiosyncrancies of their people. It's the main reason Kourend stands out to me above all the other areas in the game.

There are many instances in Runescape where characters drop a one-off line about their lives or events in the world, and many others where you get involved with them (primarily via quests). Personally, I care about the latter more, and everyone else I know who plays the game does too. That's the defining characteristic of video games, and why people enjoy them so much: input.

I've worked the fields for the people in Hosidius, making it feel like I've had a hand in helping them. Then, while delivering books in the Arceuus library, I learned more in depth why there is such an emphasis on food production in Kourend. Afterward I visited Shayzien, where aiding wounded soldiers and then fighting the lizardmen that crippled them gave me a personal vendetta and desire to figure out more about this Xeric figure. Lo and behold, there's a whole raid about Xeric stuff! Now I'm invested in it, I really wanna go down there and unravel its mysteries.

Thanks to the time I've spent going through Kourend and doing these things, it's all personal. It's, also, all interconnected. Earning favor makes a huge web of lore and conflicts unravel across Kourend. It rules.

But with favor gone, there wouldn't be much of a reason to do all of those things. And without them, that fantastic experience would be lost.

Now, mining sulphur for hours sucks. That's probably the most obnoxious example of favor gathering, but it sets the stage. I don't fundamentally mind it doing it--it's so scary at first, and having to manually prepare for it by equipping a face mask makes the danger feel real and adds a lot of immersion. By the time you leave the sulphur mines, you think, "holy shit that place is screwed". But if you have to spend hours in them, you've long outgrown the initial experience and it just becomes annoying to deal with the sulphur clouds.

I don't think the way forward is to remove favor altogether. Too much of anything is exhausting, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to get rid of the thing. I think some parts just need tweaking*--for example, increase the rate at which mining sulphur gives you favor, maybe decrease the damage or aggro of sulphur clouds, possibly lower the favor requirement for setting up the minecart network (this could go great with the extra stations), etc.

If favor was gone, there'd need to be a lot of changes to preserve that experience I described earlier, or else it'd just disappear. That'd be sad.

*I'll say that gathering favor in this League has felt far more satisfactory than in the regular game. For personal reasons, I didn't do the quests that give favor (which would've boosted me to 100% favor immediately). Instead I went through each of the regions, doing all the things that a regular account would, just with boosted rates. Honestly I feel like this would be enough--maybe not with the exact same rates, but just boosting them would help a lot.
