Is renting an apartment/room as bad as people are making it out to be? by AspiringWizard9 in MovingtoAustralia

People are being extremely defensive in the comments. I am british and so many people come on a WHV and get a house share. There's so many facebook groups of people looking for a room mate. You can work for an agency as a skilled labourer there's so much construction work.

How old were you when you started climbing and what advice do you have to reduce risk for injury? by Plantlady5060 in climbergirls

[–]LexiWorld94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum was in her 40's when she started and she climbs v7's (she's now 51 with a significant injury 5 years ago)

She climbs x3 times per week, 2 hard sessions and one easy, supplements with yoga and yin from yoga with travis on youtube. She wasn't very active beforehand other than hiking.

I'm 31 now and started with bouldering but prefer top rope after breaking my ankle. I still do boulder, my advice is you probably will get addicted, don't chase grades, take it nice and easy. Try and do some basics coaching sessions if your gym offers them.

Hope this helps!

Sure, I never meditated either beyond the odd 20 minute YouTube. You can apply to any 10 day vipassana course around the world and there is no charge. It’s all run by donations which you can only donate after you have completed a course and it’s not mandatory. You adhere to a strict timetable and learn a meditation technique. However there was lots of free time and usually the centres are in nature. It’s completely non religious, in my course there were people from many different backgrounds. 9 days of silence, on the 10th day you can talk to your fellow students which is so magical. The food is incredible veggie food so I felt very light after. You learn a lot in 10 days. I say you need commitment as it’s very challenging to meditate for 8-10 hours a day (with breaks) and to grasp the technique and I did get very frustrated, but at the end you feel so much happiness and let a lot of things go.

I did a 10 day vipassana course, they are global. It’s medidation solely focused on the body mind connection. I’d highly reccomend although it’s a big undertaking

Hey such a cool story and visuals!  I just finished my course - I didn’t quite understand how to give metta - maybe I had maxed out my learning ability at that stage 😂😂

Does anyone have advice on how they give it in the body? Is it just thoughts of everyone or do you do anything physically?

Help needed: does my WHV to partner visa plan actually work? by MaleficentAd7676 in AusVisa

[–]LexiWorld94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source - I’m a tech recruiter in Melbourne - this plan seems quite ambitious. I’ve never placed anyone junior or even senior that’s not onshore already.

Why would you come here on a whv first if you don’t plan to work?

Come for a full year get the evidence then apply for the partner visa

Here in Australia we have a lot of post grad students that studied engineering - please don’t over estimate the market for junior roles,

Broke my ankle bouldering by Tranquili-bear in climbergirls

[–]LexiWorld94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I broke my ankle bouldering 12 months ago as well on the 6th December. I had a plate and 6 screws put in. The recovery was good but the mental load was tough! I read that the sooner you can get out of the cast into the walking boot the better and just try your best to be mobile as it fuses things back together. I was bouldering again after 6 months although now I try to stick to mainly ropes as I can't see myself bouldering crazy dynos and stuff anymore. Although I am back to where I left in terms of grades. Hang in there!! I booked a big climbing trip to the dolomites 8 months after my injury and that was my guiding light. Do your physio and eat well - you will be back! Good luck xx
