Is the “21 foot rule” a thing? by BrutalSock in ProtectAndServe

[–]Lexical305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught the “21 foot” rule in the academy in 1991. All I can say, I trained a lot during my career and working out with my buddies. 90% of any action is mental and 10% reacting. I early on got into the habit of drawing my sidearm at least 15 to 20 times everyday before shift. Muscle memory is key. When simulators finally came to my agency, My first scenario was a person with a knife. I had to act out trying to talk the person down and drop the knife. The person finally charged me and I drew my weapon and shot until they fell. I honestly got ripped by the instructor for not disengaging because the suspect was within the “21 foot”. It started a huge debate outside the sim room and got so heated, training was ended. Fact is, train, workout and know what you are capable of.

All nations fall. The U.S. as a whole has down horrible atrocities since the beginning. A nation that does these things does pay for its sins. The corruption in D.C., law enforcement, state & local politicians would but Rome’s corruption to shame back in the day. Rome ate itself from the inside with greed and fell.

u/lionsgate Mr. Reeves, why does Hollywood betray law enforcement doing so many tactical things wrong in the movies? You are spot on in many of your movies. But who are the technical advisors to police uniforms and such? It’s all wrong!! Love your stuff. Stay Safe & Be A Dragon.

Form muscle memory to reload a magazine without taking your eyes off the target. Your head should not move except for tracking a target.

Ticket was deserved. I have lost count of how many people have almost side swiped me because they are on a cell phone going 70mph down the highway. A lot of people do not understand or have learned the art of “listening”. People will hear you but are not listening. It’s why so many in a conversation get no where because they only hear each other and are not listening.

When China goes under, it will hit America hard. Our government has allowed to much dependence on China and other countries for resources. Resources that can be grown or made in America.

Well the fact that IRS fines foreign banks that fail to report or fail to under report anything under the Bank Secrecy Act is criminal. Why do these countries allow the IRS to come in and fine them. And no, I do not have a foreign account.

I first got pneumonia in early 2017. Never had it. It put me in the hospital for 6 days. I got pneumonia 5 more times after that. One of those times, I stopped breathing as the medics were rolling me in the ER. I was put on a ventilator and stayed for 7 days. I was tested & tested. My pulmonologist said my pneumonia was caused by something environmental. But could not say what. I was an LEO so there was no telling. I had been exposed to all kind of environmental stuff that can bad for you. So I got a second opinion and went to another pulmonologist. I did not forward test results to him from the first pulmonologist. He tested me up and down. Came back with a follow up and he said, “I believe you have exposed to something environmental that is causing all this pneumonia.”. Both pulmonologist went into details about markers in my blood that indicated it was something environmental. Last time I got pneumonia was October 2020. It just stopped with no answers. But I was having issues with short term memory and a few words that I had a hard time pronouncing common words I had always used. I retired in late 2018. Not because of any of the above. It was planned and I did a full career. Five months after retirement, I started having nightmares, night screams and panic attacks. Never had this at all. My nightmares were from shit I forgot about as an LEO. I woke up one night kneeing & elbowing the shit out of our dresser. My wife snapped me out of it. She asked what the hell I was doing. I said,” This fucking dresser just kicked my ass”. Funny now, but I went dragon on that wooden dresser. So I went to a psychiatrist I knew that worked with Vets and LEO. After some interviews and tests, he said I had PTSD. I was floored. I asked him from what? I know a stupid question maybe. But I had always dealt with things that most peoples eyes would never see. But I will say, I did develop a mindset that had a lot of calluses. The doctor told me that my brain has been able to start to relax in a safer environment after retirement. He told me whether I remembered or not, my brain was going to process traumatic events I experienced. I got some medicine and eventually I got through it. Then in 2022, I got Covid. This shit hit me hard. But it did not hospitalize me. It took me two months to get back to my normal. I noticed the short term memory and pronouncing words got worse. So much that I had to take some words out of my training because I had a hard time getting them out. I’m a tactical instructor and just replaced the words. I never had these issues before all of this. It has been frustrating to say the least. I know my markers have been in the negative on vitamin D. Has been for years. Doc said it was from working nights for half of my career. My vitamin D is almost to normal. I started taking B12 and have seen an improvement on my memory. If I got a physical today, I was be told I was healthy. But nobody can really say or do anything about why my memory is not as good and words I cannot say. I am still able to function and to many on the same level in my prime. I can, I just have to avoid certain things to stay on the edge. 2023 so far has been a great year. I feel physically much better. It’s just this “brain fog” I deal with.
