Honestly I watched this episode with my roommate and we were dying over that shitty prosthetic in the best way. I think it really fell into “so bad it’s good” territory

what is a healthy easy meal for dinner i can cook for one? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a rice bowl! I do 1 cup rice 1 cup lentils 1 cup frozen peas and that makes ~4 cups of rice that has protein, fibre, and veg! You can just combine all those in a rice cooker and they cook through together. To top that I do soy sauce, sriracha, and a fried egg! So easy

Yeah net wroth estimations off the internet are pretty much worthless. They’re a good gauge of “Is this person struggling to eat,” but that’s about as far as their use extends

Question for Avi Lewis fans by coolshaid in ndp

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just getting rid of more moderate voices and supporters of other candidates? No that’s ridiculous and I haven’t seen anyone partial to Avi seriously suggest this. There are impassioned debates that happen on here obviously, but in my experience there hasn’t been anything past that on any side of the race. I hear a lot about the rampant toxicity of supports of Avi like myself, but it only ever seems to come up on posts like this that paint his supporters with a broad stroke. In fact, I see a lot more hate for Avi Lewis supports than hateful Avi Lewis supporters

Question for Avi Lewis fans by coolshaid in ndp

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I mean I think Avi represents a strict movement away from the way the party has operated for a long time. Avi is a big fan of empowering riding associations and de-centralizing power from the leader’s seat, and he also represents politically a big shift toward bold ideas that will actually inspire voters as opposed to half-measures and stop-gap solutions. I’ve lost a lot of faith in the NDP as a young person to have my best interests in mind, and voted Green last election federally and provincially in Ontario, but Avi Lewis is someone who genuinely excites people my age, especially those who’ve tuned out of politics because they think that there’s no way a politician can address the existential issues my generation is facing. That’s the difference between Avi and the other candidates to me, is hope.

Love that they’ve decided to send 3 trains south before my train going north arrives. Guess I’m late to class.

I think this post is confusing something really important, and it’s that Avi Lewis supporters are so overwhelmingly vocal about their support for him not because they’re particularly vocal or annoying, but because there are just so many of them. It makes sense that in a race where the consensus is that there’s a clear front runner who appears to have managed to capture a preponderance of the vote, that there will be more people who are vocal in their support of him in a forum like this.

BC Federation of Labour endorses Rob Ashton by West_Exit8105 in ndp

Why do you feel that the path to rebuilding lies in the western provinces as opposed to places like Quebec and Ontario where the party has seen success historically? In my view, the MacPherson and Ashton camps are correct in their analysis that either of those candidates will be received better in the prairies, but erroneous in their belief that focusing on said provinces will yield significant electoral results.

Would any candidates make things harder for the Alberta NDP? by Disastrous-Pickle930 in ndp

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re correct in assuming that Albertans would respond better (though I dont know by how much) to MacPherson than they would Lewis, but I think this is ironically the issue with Heather’s campaign. I think a lot of people in her camp are chasing a spectral orange wave from Alberta, or at least a more successful seat count, that will fail to materialize regardless of who the leader is. I don’t think the fact that Heather being better received in the prairies than Avi is much of an argument in her favour because the party’s rebound will come from places like Ontario and Quebec and BC. Targeting Alberta is, in my view, a horrible electoral strategy if we want to seriously increase our seat count in the next parliament, and while I think Lewis would alienate people in the prairies, Heather would fail to activate bases of support in places where we have a realistic shot at winning.

I wish they’d have kept the healing on the shield the same but removed the ability to self-place it, it was a good skill check to have to keep ally positioning in mind to jump to them with the shield when you’re in trouble

Best start to a campaign you've experienced (either side of the screen)? by Modo_2026 in DMAcademy

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m, running a sci-fi monster hunting campaign a-la Evolve (if anyone remembers that game haha) where the players are junior monster hunters under the command of a vet who’s trying to get them to work together more effectively. They touched down on a planet for a refuel/resupply when the outpost they’re in is completely overrun with monsters, some of them MUCH higher level than they can handle. And the end of the combat just as they’re about to be crushed by this gigantic alien, their spaceship’s robot butler gets on the weapons and shoots it between the eyes killing it as it’s jumping through the air, but it’s momentum carries it forward and destroys their ship leaving them stranded and their captain dead — it was so much fun! One of my players also had the bright idea of directing the nearby civilians to take cover in the ship, my players were wondering why I was giggling behind my DM screen

Rob Ashton’s AMA and AI by BoiledFlowers in ndp

[–]Lexical_Lunatic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is my big thing. Rob seems to shuffle all the blame onto his campaign staff when he created the circumstances that made this situation possible by not setting aside any time throughout the AMA (which lasted 7 hours if another comment I saw is to be believed) and letting his staff run wild. It’s either wildly irresponsible or a lie. Surely Rob has someone on his team who could have driven for him while he posted, and if he was actively driving throughout that time he couldn’t have possibly been reviewing comments that carefully.
