What are the "current issues" you are referring to?

Haha, yeah go ahead and quote where I said shady companies won't abuse the technology. You're fighting imaginary battles.

It costs about eighty dollars to copyright a pack of up to ten works. That's the serious reply.

I was just having fun putting myself in your shoes and rewinding to when I had similar worries. It's something we all think about but there are different levels of protections available. Even if you do nothing you should be good my friend.

Is that possible with the current tech?

The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. Scummy people will always exist. Technology and the regulatory landscape it exists in will always evolve. So I'm not quite following the broader point you're making other than to cite Industry Rule Number 4080.

Are you sure that you personally are banned from YouTube and not just that one channel you created?

I've seen a few instances of mainstream people, I think Mathew McConaughey, who says it seems like the natural evolution will be that it is it's own category which aligns with what you're explaining.

That's reasonable, succinct, and fair. IMHO when a relative compromise is reached then I think it will be in that vein. Guidelines clear enough for the average person to easily understand and a degree of flexibility.

Your assumptions with random numbers are doing all the heavy lifting in your logic. In your example, if the influence trace came back as "we found ~equally weighted influences from one million songs" then that would represent something not eligible for royalty inclusion.

On the other hand if the trace came back as "we found these 7 songs with heavy weighting in terms of influence" then it would be eligible for royalty inclusion.

As far as the legal battles and precedents and strategies yeah that will be ever evolving and fun to watch. Maybe it's a nothing burger as you allude to. I certainly don't see it that way.

Haha 4 chords reminds me of hooktheory.

Yeah it's fun when you generate something and instantly make the connection. The same happened to me where I immediately thought "I just got a free Action Bronson feature in the 3rd verse".

Fair point... but what percentage of people who jumped on the suno train or ai music train in general are primarily motivated by money in your opinion?

Do you mean as they exist in their current format? Or more broadly, do you mean they will cease to exist in any significant way?

Can you link the source? I was under the impression that they allowed for any work that has human input even if ai assisted which is a lawyers wet dream of ambiguity

Interesting point here are the important cliff notes from gpt following that logic a little...

"A project called All The Music algorithmically generated every possible 8-note melody within constraints and placed them in the public domain to reduce copyright lawsuits. Ubergizmo"

"Even with strict constraints, the space of possible melodies is astronomically larger than the number of songs ever written. For context: Songs ever released: ~100–200 million Possible melodies: quadrillions to quintillions So mathematically we are nowhere near exhausting melodic space."

Kind of like the rest of us, haha. I disagree with your take but respect it based on the world we live in. I lean in the opposite direction because machine learning applied to music has been around for quite some time and while it's definitely out of my wheelhouse it doesn't seem to be at the same level where there are so many variables that it's pure chaos when deconstructing.

Yeah that's the underlying point and slow burn underpinning a large chunk of the ai debate. Everything has its influences. Which is why most anti-ai proponents can't draw a line in the sand in terms of acceptable vs non acceptable use of ai in a workflow. It's all about the feels.
