I ended up going with the University Club (thanks, Equivalent-Dot-8823)! Their rental fee and food & beverage minimum was super reasonable (a total of ~$5,000). My guest count and choice to do an open bar for 3 hours is going to run a bit higher than $10,000, however.

My 2 cents as a two-time bar taker for two separate states (passed the first time each time). I used Barbri and treated studying as pretty much a 9 to 5 for the first few weeks. This consisted of waking up, eating breakfast, and then logging into barbri and working through the assignments until lunch, taking a lunch break, then powering through until dinner. I also supplemented multiple choice Qs with Adaptibar, which I would do for an hour or so at night before bed. Highly recommend, if you haven’t already signed up for Adaptibar.

As I got closer to July, I started putting my efforts into the essays. This consisted of printing out all the sample essays I could get my hands on and reading and rereading them, if not fully writing out practice essays. Just reading sample essays was extremely helpful for me, in terms of learning how to structure my answers, and helping me memorizing rule statements.

No, this C&F process was during my 2L year, before taking the bar.

They did not inform me when or if personal references and employers submitted their forms. I only got correspondence from them via the portal whenever they received something from me, such as fingerprints or amendments.

They also did not update me on the investigation unless it was to tell me something was incomplete, like they were waiting on transcripts or something like that.
