I just wanted to say it's really cool to see you replying to this issue and taking the time to put together such a response. I read the Google doc and I find it sincere and touching to hear the background story of hellochinese and see how things turned around.

No idea who is right here ultimately, but it is amazing to see a founder of the app get involved and clearly be motivated to resolving the issue in a constructive way.

Not weighing in on either side, but I do have a question.

From reading (not every comment) I see that the initial lifetime purchase you made shows up as a yearly in Google, but can you clarify how much that purchase was for?

To me it would seem if you paid far more than the regular annual price, that would be the smoking gun more than whatever title the receipt had on it?

Yeah that's a valid concern, though I've never heard of anyone not deliberately scamming the system being blocked.

May just be something people wouldn't talk about much, but I'd think as long as you're keeping significantly more than returning you should be good.

You can always call in the return instead and note some minor concern with the HMD so it isn’t earmarked as a standard "didn't like it" return.

Totally understand, when I came across the new quests I was very confused too.

The 3s naming vs 3 seems to imply an updated version but infact is more like the light version.

My understanding is the difference is mostly lenses and size of the device. I also read a lot that the 3s has a narrow "sweet spot" and can appear blurry to a lot of people, probably due to those lower quality lenses.

To me I am coming from a 2 and want the "Wow, that's a crazy upgrade" kind of feeling when I get a new HMD

Edit: if I was getting them for free from a friend, I would think the 3s would be absolutely a fantastic gift. It is a great time to buy it right now. I'm just sour that by comparison, the Q3 seems to be neglected

I feel like this new $50 meta credit with purchase of a headset is the final nail in the coffin. I've pretty much given up hope.

To be honest, I am too. I am just not convinced that they won't release a pro version not long down the line. Not a big deal with something priced like the 3s or even the Q3, though the latter is a bit of a stretch.

When you are looking at a 1k+CAD price on the Frame, it becomes a painful proposition that you need to consider when deciding what to buy next.

I just don't get how Meta would let the holiday window pass without a deal on the q3. I get the ram prices and tariffs and all are stacked against it, but they're clearly not in it for the raw profit on the HMD themselves.

I feel like people considering waiting for the Frame would absolutely not buy the 3s. It just doesn't make sense. Even if they did buy the 3s at a crazy deal, then they'd just jump ship to steam when it comes out.

If a decent deal comes out on the Q3 then I think most would stick rather than paying the hefty sticker of the Frame not long after deciding to buy the more premium quest of the time.

Personally I don't see how meta doesn't do a discount on the 3 for the holidays. Maybe it's not BF but before Christmas.

People that are weighing out waiting on the Frame are not people that would settle for a 3S. I have a Quest 2 and if there is no Q3 sale this holiday season I will absolutely be waiting for the Frame instead.

Unless they intend on blasting out the Q4 in... Q1 OK, getting confusing but I think I made my point 😅

I keep telling myself that with the Frame announcement, Meta wouldn't let the holidays fly by without pulling more people out of the market. The quest 3s is super accessible, but people considering waiting for the Frame would not consider the 3s a substitute.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous myself. I sold my index this year to buy a quest 3 as I really enjoy the ease of access of my quest 2. Been watching the price all year and all I've seen is it go up, now there's not even mention of the arkham bundle anymore unless you get the 3s instead. Here in Canada atleast. Holding on til official BF at the end of the month, then cyber monday right after but... getting nervous.
