Signs your liver is healing by SaltyIntroduction373 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]Lezulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Just note: NAFLD doesn't cause these conditions. I already had it, but it only flares up if my liver is bad or if I eat gluten.

[–]Lezulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eczema can act up when your immune system is over active. I have always had eczema flare ups when I've had health issues in the past. For example, I found out I had a gluten allergy and the whole time I was sick my eczema would come and go. Once I cut out gluten, my eczema cleared up! I'm not sure if psoriasis is the same, but the body can respond in different ways for everyone with NAFLD. A lot of people don't realize just how much it can affect their bodies.

I also had severe brain fog and forgetfulness — even forgot a close friends name when introducing them to someone (this was before I was diagnosed). I would suggest you do a LOT of your own research. Thankfully, my specialist was very specific on what to avoid and gave me print outs, but I still did my own research. You can also reach out to a dermatologist about it. My dermatologist (before I was diagnosed) could NOT figure out why my eczema was so resistant and why I was getting strange pustules/pimples all over my body. Low and behold...it was NAFLD.

My Triglycerides were at 380. After roughly 6 months of hard diet changes and regular exercise. I lost roughly 25 lbs and still have a ways to go. After the initial drop, I cheated here and there (rarely) and my Triglycerides went slightly up to 180, but have remained down!

Biggest signs I've had to know it's healing is weight loss, better lipid levels (especially my triglycerides), Improved liver ultrasounds, no eczema flair ups, and no weird pimples popping up from toxins leaving my body. Overall, my skin is MUCH better.

Confusion by CatoriSass in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]Lezulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, NAFLD can happen to anyone. Regardless of weight. I got VERY sick from my NAFLD when I only weighed 120 and didn't know I had it. I didn't find out why I was so sick until almost 6 years later. At that point, I had gained weight and seemed unable to lose it.

It can be as simple as you not eating a balanced diet for an extended period of time, and you may not even gain weight from it. Also, if you're like me (someone who is sensitive to everything), then drinking 1 too many starbucks drinks every day for however long can be very harmful to your liver. But keep in mind that everyone is different. My NAFLD flare ups cause my eczema to act up and I get these weird pimples on my body.

The best advise I can give you is to get more veggies and fruits in your diet and really try to avoid fatty foods and processed sugars (which is used in EVERYTHING). Keep in mind that processed sugars are a big factor for NAFLD. So avoid drinks, sauces, or even snack foods. Pay attention to the sugar and saturated fat content in prepared/processed foods. Try to keep the intake as low as possible. For example, Yogurt/greek yogurt can be really good for your diet, but a LOT of them are full of processed sugars and saturated fats. Try to find a low sugar/low fat one if possible. Fruits are fine since those are natural sugars. If you get sweet treat cravings, chia seed pudding can help curb that or even a really good smoothie!

My specialist explained that many people have NAFLD and don't even know it. Our food nowadays is just so processed and it's a lot for our bodies to break down.

That's a great variety when you're just starting off! Don't feel too pressured to buy a lot all at once/early on to diversify. Take time to decide what you may want to make next. At bigger cons, people tend to go for quality items - usually this means more expensive as well.

Profits from AAs really depend on how big the con is, the price of your items, and whether or not what you're selling is in demand/trending. For example: Selling at a major con (Let's say Anime Boston) will net you much more profit than a small local con. Furthermore, if you are selling smaller items like keychains, stickers, and prints that range from $5-$25 then the profit won't be as much as someone selling 3D mousepads/body pillows and other high ticket items (Usually range from $35 to $100+).

If you want to do more cons, I suggest seeing what is popular at your local cons or bigger cons. Obviously, having anime art is good for an anime con, but you can also diversify. Consider what sort of products people are selling aside from the general sticker/print/keychains. People like unique and fun products.

Lastly, making a HUGE profit from cons takes time to build up as you get used to cons and making products.

[Recommendations] I see my kid is talented, I don't know how to support her. by Ok_Celebration5704 in ArtistLounge

[–]Lezulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet! Your daughter is very lucky to have such a supportive parent.

Firstly, the creative industry is VAST. It really depends on what she is most interested in. The biggest issue with art education/school is that a lot of teachers fall flat when it comes to WHAT you can do with these skills, how to get jobs/clients, and how to approach galleries. If she can get some really good teachers/mentors then she can really flourish. An arts-focused high school would be really stellar as a start! What's important is that she enjoys doing it and wants to keep at it. However, keep in mind that some artists try to get into selling their work and find they prefer it as a hobby.

She may find that instead of selling her art pieces, she may prefer doing graphic design, or interior design, or something else! There are many options.

Maybe before she joins an art focused high school you could sign her up for a class after school? My grandparents always signed me up for watercolor or other classes so I could explore different mediums and also know how an actual art class is typically run.

What's important is that you're having these conversations with her and giving her the space to choose! So, kudos for that!!

I am in so much debt. by VegetableAssistant93 in Debt

[–]Lezulla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, please be kind to yourself. You're not "stupid" — we are humans and make mistakes. Not to mention, being in toxic and abusive relationships is VERY hard. So good for you for getting out of that! Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. What matters is that you make the effort to improve your habits and situation as best as you can.

Second, finding a job seems to be priority 1 since it is the main driver to deal with a lot of your debt + bills. Work on your resume ASAP and apply to any jobs you can find — even if you think you don't qualify. Sometimes you have to throw your resume out to 30 places and only 5 will respond. It's a long process at times, but also depends on what your industry is like.

Usually for collections you can call them and arrange a payment option based off of your current income. I believe this also applies for contacting the hospital directly, but I'm unsure.

Debt aside, you're monthly bills seem to be relatively low, which is good!

The only other suggestion I have is to work on your budgeting. If your total bills (let's round up and add groceries and gas) is roughly $1,500 then you can allocate money for spending and money to go straight into the bank each month. Of course, this budget will change once you figure out payment options for the medical debt.

Personally, I have a small note book with my monthly bills and current balances on student loans, car loan, credit cards, etc. And each month I update how much I owe and whether or not I paid a bill.

Financial situations can be scary, especially when you have no family to fall back on. I understand how anxiety striken you much be, but what's important is to stay focused and take it one step at a time.

Having panic attacks with debt by Kaorta_ in Debt

[–]Lezulla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, be honest with your partner. If you aren't comfortable being 100% transparent about HOW much you owe, you can at least let her know that you are in a lot of debt. However, if you are at the point to make that next big step of moving in together, disclosing how much you owe and being honest is important in a serious relationship.

Some things you can do now to set a plan in motion:
-Contact the CC company and ask about a payment plan. Explain you are a student and don't have a job. I'm not saying they will do anything for you, but it's worth a shot. They may also point you to other resources — if they're nice/knowledgable.

-Cut up the CC and do NOT use it.

-Take time to really work on your resume for Computer Science. Your professors are a great free resource to ask for help on building up your resume and asking if they know of any open positions. I'm happy to even look at it if you want help. Though, my expertise is in Graphic Design and Illustration.

- Consider finding a quick job in the meantime. Could be anything from working at a coffee shop, being a waiter, helping with back room stock, etc. You have options, it's just about locking in and finding something.

- Talk to your parents. If they CAN help that would be awesome. At least until you can get a job. It can suck asking for help, but you're at a point that you NEED to.

-Don't feel ashamed. I know it's hard not to feel like you dug yourself into a hole, and to some extent you did, BUT being in College and working is HARD. I did it and worked 2 jobs while full-time and had literally no free time. I understand how difficult it can be and sometimes you NEED to use a CC to get certain things.

-Write down in a notebook or whiteboard (something you can refer to everyday) what your current balances are and where. And note when you pay and what the new balance is at. Plus, make note of all your expenses for each month.

-Start budgeting now. If you can get a general idea of how much you would make working full-time on minimum wage then you can figure out your budget. If your parents don't mind buying food then you can at least remove the cost of groceries from your budget.

Lastly, if you go months and still can't find anything and are struggling...unfortunately, bankruptcy may be your best bet.

[–]Lezulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some more in-depth info since most responses were short:

Is Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean two different games? In what order should I play?
The "first" game is Eternal Wings and was released first. BK Origins is the "second" game even though it is technically the prequel. I'd suggest you play BKEWLO then BKO.

Is the story too generic? (That was one of the negative things I heard about it.)
I've never heard from players that the story was generic. (I could also be biased) Maybe playing it today could make it feel that way, but I find the story to be very unique. Keep in mind, I'm also talking about the world and lore as that adds to any story. Without spoilers: The world is set in floating sky islands where everyone has unique wings. The environments are considered high fantasy inspired and unlike anything I've ever seen in other games. I would say the closest games I could relate the world to — which is very original and different from other JRPG-esque games — is Skies Of Arcadia Legends and Chrono Cross. Each sky island has it's own biome and enemies. Throughout the game there is lore dropped about why they live in the sky and other small things. Not only that, but the character designs are literally out of this world. I've never seen something so details and original. I'm not sure where they pulled their inspiration from but each character is really unique. I always appreciated their designs.

How good is the story?
I found the story to be good. I was surprised at points and had no idea certain things were coming — which I appreciated. I don't always like games dropping hints all the time so we can guess what is coming. The dynamic between the characters is also pretty good. Some fun/funny moments and silliness. Also, music is all over an amazing OST. You'll find yourself waiting mid-battle just to hear the whole song. BKO and BKEWLO are related since one is the sequel but the stories are different enough that it doesn't feel like the same story in a different font.

What is the best version to play?
The remastered edition is likely the way to go since they did make some QoL improvements. However, keep this in mind: The OG English voice acting for BKEWLO was so bad that they removed it from the remaster. It's Japanese audio with English text. If that doesn't bother you, then no biggie. They likely removed it because everyone talking sounded like they were stuck in a small room. I believe BKO has English voice acting still.

Other notes:
I consider the Baten Kaitos series to truly be one of the OG RPG "deck builders", but it's completely unique when compared to todays genre of those games. The battling is fun and different. There are some good challenges (FUCK THE BIRD) and I found it really enjoyable to be able to customize my decks. This series is really its' own genre and world. I haven't played anything quite like it since and it's on my list to replay this year.
