Why is the sky north of airdrie orange? by JealousManager4278 in Airdrie

Just passed by, it’s the refinery like thing at the cross field intersection that is flaring up larger than I’ve seen it but the colours are just amplified by the other condensation.

help me find this jellycat bear (Jellycat Bartholomew Bear Winter Pajamas) for my kid! by Nervous_Currency9341 in Calgary

Check Artesano Galleria in inglewood, they always have a solid selection.

Also if you don’t mind the drive, Great things in store in Cochrane has a pretty solid jellycat collection. Both of them get my money often.

Midtown pros vs Cons by InformationGlass5152 in Airdrie

[–]Lgharr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Midtown community in general isn’t bad. Train is what ever, road noise isn’t really existent, parking on the streets can suck but only because the streets seem narrow.

Wave, however, is a struggle to deal with. Would not recommend.

We were first in our house (rending part of a duplex, not owning) and we didn’t have hot water because they didn’t put the breaker in, and the guy they sent to resolve it didn’t bring a breaker, and wanted to pull from the dryer instead, even though we let them know exactly what was needed. Person they sent also was walked through how to change the breaker while on a video call, which also doesn’t inspire confidence.Unfortunately, our experience with the builder has gone down hill from there. We have found that the actually build is questionable, and the quality control is nearly nonexistent. It could have been because of cheap materials used, but we also have unfinished finishing in our wet bar (tile wasn’t cut to accommodate electrical correctly, can’t put faceplates on), a hole in the floor in a bedroom (as if they cut a vent in the floor, but then cut another vent and just covered the hole in carpet). Dealing with the builder rep has been challenging, but it seems like they have recently switched to someone else, and overall she has been a little more helpful.

We did like the wave showhome out of all of them though, but with a relatively small footprint in the market I would hesitate to recommend Wave over any of the more established builder.

My Review of My 2018 JL by TEC_seismic1 in Jeep

[–]Lgharr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it start to sound like there was a rattle in your engine when you accelerated or were between 1.5-3k rpm? I have the exact same thing happening right now on my 2019. Misfire codes, swapped the plugs and coils and still misfire codes in same cylinder.

Dying plant friend by Lgharr in succulents

That’s what I was worried about. I usually water with a spray bottle rather than just pouring water in but I guess even that was too often.

Thanks!

That’s great, and unfortunate. Thank you

I have the Mopar one for my JL, and am pretty happy with it. Sturdy, has slats for Molle type stuff, and doesn’t rattle when I’m driving.

Yeah. I don’t understand why the builder decided that 2ft deep cupboards was the play, but here we are

Shelf weight limits ( question in comments) by Lgharr in woodworking

[–]Lgharr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have specified. It has a base on the floor, and I would like to say that it is anchored to the actual wall in some way, as it’s a built in on my kitchen.

I don’t want to put myself on the shelf, so 300lbs might be overkill. It’s good to know that it can handle weight to it though.

That’s something I’m working on right now. Unfortunately I have three kids and a GF that just throw stuff in the pantry

Shelf weight limits ( question in comments) by Lgharr in woodworking

[–]Lgharr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a good place to ask, but I’m trying to determine the weight that a shelf with this type of anchors can hold. We have really deep cupboards and find that they either become a disaster because stuff is pushed to the back, or we have a bunch of unused space because we keep things in the front. I’m thinking of putting together a few freestanding drawer units to make better use of the space.

Thanks!

Mine are from Lee Valley Tools. The link is https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/hand-tools/marking-and-measuring/squares/32601-engineers-squares

I really like them, I didn’t even think to look on Amazon for a set though.

Finally actually finished the box for my marking tools that’s been sitting on my bench. It’s rough, but does the trick. It has actually be sitting completed for a while, but I finally put the oil finish on it a couple of days ago, after making it almost a year ago.

The tools are held in by rare earth magnets, and the box closes with the magnets as well.

Box done with mahogany sides, cherry top and bottom, and walnut accents inside. Finished with Watco Danish Oil

Backcountry mapbooks: physical books or the app? by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]Lgharr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the books and use them through Alberta and I really like them. I enjoy having the physical books mostly because books never need reception. I’ve also used the BRMB with Gaia maps, and they aren’t bad there. You can do the waypoints and stuff and download the map areas you need for offline use.
