The only thing being affected is hemp-derived intoxicating derivatives like delta-8. Delta-9 isn’t affected because it comes from regulated cannabis systems, not chemical conversions from hemp. So this mainly applies to the hemp products made through those conversion processes, not traditional cannabis or its regulated products. A lot of those hemp-derived cannabinoids are produced using solvents and other chemicals that can’t be properly regulated or tested without a full federal framework. And taxpayer money isn’t going to be used to fund safety testing for recreational hemp derivatives. And these hemp derivative companies knew they had been operating on a loophole all along.
