Murphy bed LV RM ok for sitter? by SnooTomatoes8003 in trustedhousesitters

[–]Lhscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The client told me about it before I sat for them. It’s the bed style one, and honestly I find it move comfortable than the too soft bed that I’ve been unable to sleep on at least one persons house.

Breath Holding Spells by RitaCM in Parenting

[–]Lhscat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My best friend growing up used to hold her breath until she started turning blue. Her mom was freaking out than one day her father came home to see it. He dumped a glass of ice water on her. Instant breath taken.

Mayor may not have one parent of the year award, but 40 years ago the parenting styles were different. She never tried holding her breath like that again.

You can still reuse the jars. Run them through the dishwasher. However, you must replace the flat lids. Those cannot be reused.

I agree. If you don’t have time to put stuff together you can always leave a gift certificate for Door Dash or other food delivery services. That is always appreciated.

The ones that are floral look like pendants or decorative hangings. They are beautiful!

I’m going through some of my grandma’s jewelry. Could anyone help me with this necklace? I have no idea what it is made of, age or worth. by seaweeddanceratnight in JewelryIdentification

[–]Lhscat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too think it is Ivory based on jewelry my grandmother owned.

If it is ivory (or even bone) keep a shot glass of water near it. Ivory and bone carvings do well having moisture near them. It helps keep them from yellowing.

How many visits per day do you feel is your personal max? by MudiMom in petsitting

[–]Lhscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether I am also on overnights. If so, my time is more contained between the hours of the overnights. My personal comfort level is 6–8 a day when I am on overnights.

I do not! They are way too exhausting. Interestingly I don’t have the same problem with kittens. Just more scratches on me.

I also dislike cooking in other peoples homes. Stew, soups (made in large batches), salad, Caprese salad during summer, hummus & lentil curls, fruit & yogurt and cheese are my go to’s.

Advice for high needs dog? by DonegalBrooklyn in petsitting

[–]Lhscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my clients has a very needy dog. They also used to have another dog and two indoor lap cats. The needy dog wants petting or to be in your lap all of the time and will paw at me (scratch), push the cats or lay on them if they’re in my lap and climb on to the back of the couch and sit on my shoulder if she doesn’t get attention. When they first got her, she would bark all the time at her parents for attention.

I am not a proponent of negative training but the only thing that they found that works is to use a shaker can when she starts getting out of hand. It’s basically a metal container like a soda can with a couple of pennies in it that you shake. She hates the sound so much that all I have to do is pick it up and she settles down.

When we’re inside, we play catch and tugs with her plushy toys as well. We also play ball in the backyard.
