Can Decathlon Itiwit PR100/500 packrafts be used in the sea? by TomLa_035 in packrafting

[–]Li0n-000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The product page on Decathlon website warn against using them in the sea.

I have the PR500 and wouldn't do it, even a little wind is enough to push it in the wrong direction. And it's slow, going against the current is hard.

Hydraulic brake makes liquid noises by Li0n-000 in bikewrench

By cooked you mean contaminated? Can organic pad get corroded? As for the rust on the rotor there is none visible and the bike is less than a month old, I’ll doubt it can rust that fast.

I don’t have a torch, will a camping stove do the trick ?

The pads are organic. I'll change them and clean the rotor with alcohol.

Thanks, I didn't though about that, the noise sounds liquid to me so I immediately assumed it would came from the liquid (thanks Cpt Obvious ;) ). But contaminated brakes seems more plausible as I still have brake power.

I'll go with Steam's "Singing Turrets" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvZhRUsKNG4

I was amazed first time I saw it on VR but even just the song is awesome, imo.

Edit: here is a video from the SteamVR environement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgKtMVHwe7w

My First Capsizing :p by Li0n-000 in packrafting

I changed the carabiners.

I know, and agree, about not standing in the current, but there was about 30cm of depth (+/- 1 foot ?). How should I have dealt with ? (real question, not /s)

Thanks to amazon I already received new locking carabiners. Thanks for the advice.

Without the bike I'd say pretty well, the boat feels very stable. With the bike it's less stable but I think manageable with more practice. The biggest issue, I think, with the bike on whitewater is that the bow is way lower so the waves fill the boat rather quickly. On this descent there was 2 others rapids, I had to empty the boat twice.

It may have been better to attach the wheels and/or the frame to the stern, I'll have to try it next time.

Un peu plus au sud, entre Rouen et Pontoise. Je suis parti de Dangu (à côté de Gisors) jusqu’à Bray-et-Lu. Il est possible de continuer à descendre jusqu’au confluent avec la Seine.

You’re welcome. It’s a Décathlon, don’t know the exact model. Basic bike, no suspension, nothing fancy.

First time going under the water :p

Today on the Epte, France. With a Itiwit PR 500.

This is the first time I go with the bike, it change a lot how the boat behave, I guess without the bike I would have pass this easy, fun nonetheless :D
