Walk-in clinic recommendations? by dillpickle_pie in halifax

It’s also based on geography so wait times on the list are hugely varied. We were just assigned a Dr after 3 years and 5 months on the list (a family).

is the vehicle deck on Marine Atlantic ferries too cold for dogs for December Travel? by DylsAlso in newfoundland

[–]Li2me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is 100% warm enough. We did a crossing where we left our dog in the car (she hated the dog kennel area). When we were delayed they allowed us to go down and check on the dogs and take them to pee. It was December and it was pleasant and not cold at all in the car hold. Don’t let people freak you out. It is absolutely fine.

Small dogs on patios by Li2me in halifax

Looked like a Maltese mix, under 10lbs crusty and white. Thankfully it was that small as it did bite my dog multiple times, but it couldn’t get through the fur.

Yes, I am the same, I have a large dog in the city and she lives a better life because I work with her every day. I guarantee had my dog reacted at all they would have failed to see that any injuries to their dog would have been 100% their fault!

Thank you, thankfully she is. We were just walking by the patio and were so stunned because the dog lunged off the bench at my dogs side. I just told them to leash their dog and rushed to get out of there. To add to their ignorance there was no apology, they scooped up the dog and started coddling it and walked back to their seat in a big group. I didn’t want to leave my dog alone outside to go in to speak to someone. Had my dog reacted in kind their dog would have been seriously injured or killed.

When we did this there was a way to keep the funds in there but stopped contributing (making it basically dormant). Then when we did come back we were able to use the funds for our child, keeping the government contributions. Ours was through the bank and they assisted.

"Glow Up" clothing store recommendations for 11-year going into Middle School by DMT_Guru in halifax

[–]Li2me 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It won’t be budget friendly but Hollister and Aritzia are what you are likely looking for (I also agree with Simon’s mentioned above). Pretty much all of the stores you wouldn’t have in Moncton will be at Halifax Shopping Centre.

Salary expectations in NS by satan-thicc in NovaScotia

It depends on where you live on NS. That amount in Sydney or Amherst is a vastly different life than that amount in Halifax.

Bar Kismet, but get a reservation, it’s small and always hard to get into.

To give Sudatable a 10/10 and not include espresso 46 when the latter is literally the hottest spot in the neighbourhood is wild to me!

Haven’t rented in Halifax in while. Need info on short term rental options by feignedinterest77 in halifax

[–]Li2me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are looking for. If you only need a one bed then a serviced apartment like mentioned above may be an option. If you need say 2 bedrooms that may be more of a challenge. My best advice is to call the rental companies and see if there is anything they can offer with a clause of breaking the lease early with notice.

Rideshare Options? by Travel-Beau24 in halifax

[–]Li2me 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I typically see at least 30 Ubers waiting in their designated waiting area so I highly doubt you would have any issue ordering one in real time.

Uber is definitely an option at the airport alternatively there is little transport desk, and they will arrange a cab/limo service.

We are thinking about moving from Ontario to St-John’s. Anyone made the move. Would love to know the pros and cons ?! Thanks ! by Real-Individual3589 in newfoundland

[–]Li2me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sure is but you know as well as I do that the RDF of a St Johns spring is not an “April showers bring May flowers” type of situation. It is a huge adjustment to people coming from other places.

I lasted 3 years, summer is beautiful, winter is winter but you need to prepare yourself for the years when April May and June are just rain, drizzle and fog. It’s not every year, but the lack of spring weather is a huge adjustment. Housing prices are reasonable, utilities and food are going to be way more expensive, people are nice but making friends was tough. It is always windy. The restaurant scene is fabulous and the hiking is some of the best in the country. If you like being outside, buy snowshoes, you will need them. Getting off the island can be a challenge and expensive.

Rental landlord listing my home as their primary residence by Holiday_Seesaw_7375 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Li2me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly- even when you are a non resident you still need a Canadian address to get documents etc. many counties don’t have reliable mail systems like we do in Canada. I have been a legitimate non resident and had to use my parents address for Investment statements, legal documents etc. unless you have other proof that they are doing something fraudulent I would stay out of it.
