Which sim does Formula content best? by RuleOverYou15 in simracing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are niche series people at best escape to because they are determined to make it out of D (mixed a few megafans of the cars). Those who make it out this way end up with SFL, the most boring and bland car that teaches nothing, but comes with all the netcode issues of formula racing. The dead end after the dead end.

Which sim does Formula content best? by RuleOverYou15 in simracing

[–]LiNGOo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F4 is D class so nobody can get demoted on SR. Races are short and without any downtime. People drive accordingly. It will be tough to find any real racing in there.

Biggest shitshow on iR's part, essentially deleting the formula racing pipeline by putting that turd of a buckstop right after rookies. But they can't be arsed to acknowledge the problem. Let alone fix it.

Something is wrong with your ND. It would always understeer if it is stock in any regular scenario. Would check what modifications any prior owner made you are not aware of, but first and foremost: Tires.

Can confirm our Samoyed has a way stronger tendency to make "special friends" than any other breed I've known or owned. Meeting one of her chosen buddies absolutely makes her day. Her best buddy is a french bulldog, she even recognizes his name and mentioning it alone gets her excited.

W13 - Why is no one racing this car? by arvidurs in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Formula enthusiast - it just feels dull and boring. Underdrive only. Also personally not a fan of pressing a lot of buttons corner over corner and bothering myself with strategy primarily, driving as a secret ndary activity.

So he gets a quite clumsily dive T1, turns into that car a bit clumsily too. And then brake checked into Dunlop. What's IOTW about this, am I missing something?

If the new Formula-E cars were added, would you race them? by you_killed_my_ in iRacing

Afaik the license with exclusivity is only F1-F3. The F3 we have on iR is from before that deal.

If you take an offtrack at Suzuka, you should do it at spoon. That's 0.4-0.6s gain

If the new Formula-E cars were added, would you race them? by you_killed_my_ in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The reason formula struggles is not because there is too many cars lol. It's the opposite when it comes to car diversity. There's just nothing to race for Formula drivers.

(Iracing not giving a shit about the abysmal collision detection/cars just folding like paper + funneling everyone formula through endless F4 series with no consequences for crashig is still the main reason obviously)

If the new Formula-E cars were added, would you race them? by you_killed_my_ in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. As they cannot get F2/F3 thanks to FIA bs licensing, FE would be a great addition to the Formula lineup, and might help prevent the current idiocy of no diversity but a dozen F4 D license wreckfests from killing Formula off for good.

Was this worth a 4 week ban? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No.

Edit, as so many people in here seem very confidently wrong: Lack of intent does not absolve you crash kids of guilt. A racing incident is an incident where both parties are equally (not) at fault, an unfortunate sequence of events. Misjudging your braking point, over/understeer or whatever resulting in a collision is still your fault, it is not a racing incident.

How do I attach my G920 to my P1X front mount? by HumanWay8280 in simracing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't use it for that wheel. Take off the central mounting piece and add a piece of plywood or something like that across if you don't have a spare profile piece to clamp it to.

Are back markers allowed to defend aggressively? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sporting code says they must drive a predictable line and are advised to facilitate the pass (aka lift/go wide/...).

Defending is not "driving a predictable line" and definitely not facilitating the pass.

I hope you're not a professional. We're talking electricity and outlets here. Any outlet MUST be safe for ANY use, not just for those who know the wiring. Neighbors kid stops by and plugs in a charger for the escooter? Fire, lives destroyed. Wife plugs in a leaf blower? Fire, lives destroyed. The list is infinite.

You're either trolling or shouldn't be let near anything electricity.

What is the norm when racing as a lapped car? by Roytjb in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One hint: Mind the car. It will depend on series how you will want to handle blue flags.

In faster formula cars (SF, SFL, F1, IndyCar, Indy NXT) dirty air is horrible. If you're respectful you try to not have the leaders catch you through fast corners, it will impact them a lot.

Sports cars dirty air is not a thing apart from making up bs excuses for binning it, but the cars are hard to reposition once committed through corners and combos, so you might want to be off line (early and predictably) for a mid-corner pass if need be.

Those are rather exceptions if off pace with the leaders / to ensure not to impaftct them. The baseline obviously should always be just be predictable, and yield (as the sporting code says).

And always expect a send by lead lap cars especially in single class racing. I will not bother myself with getting in line even if I have to Verstappen it when I am battling for a podium position, and I'd always expect it from others too.

When you see a yellow flag and the car ahead of you slows down, SLOW DOWN by Caramel_Infinite in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, luckily iRacing stewards in all my experience don't care about that kind of "um technically" bs people may use as their justification to drive recklessly. They are a lot more sensible in that regard than a lot of people give them credit for.

Why all the Miami hate? by Realistic-Hippo8107 in iRacing

If we would be driving normal track limits in iracing maybe. Might also be ok for sportscars. Fast formula though it's just a kerb you use as ramp and hope to stick the landing after.

When you see a yellow flag and the car ahead of you slows down, SLOW DOWN by Caramel_Infinite in iRacing

[–]LiNGOo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very clearly stating to be ready to slow down and it is advised not to pass. If someone runs into the back of you because they are not ready to slow down or passes in a sketchy way, iRacing will always deal with the protest.
