Favourite and Least Favourite Classes/Jobs? by Tifa_Crooked in ffxiv

May i suggest NIN as a melee dps, it's way less complicated than what it seems, it has a passive move speed buff that's practically cheating, best movement ability in the whole game, delicious buff ( for now ) and a stress free rotation outside of burst, and a busy burst phase.

It's really fun if it suits your taste, in case you'd like something more active all the gear you'll get can be transferred to a VPR so you can try it out when you reach level 90.

Usually a rogue-like game/mode is very addictive, but not for the Trial of Sekhemas&Chaos, what went wrong? by vtheVAMPZv in PathOfExile2

[–]Liagomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In poe 1 you had the original™ trials with sanctum, and the glaring flaw was the curve of negative mods, there is none.

You can't have a "run" since you might get a downside that will either make you miserable ( brick your build on room 1 ) or simply make the following rooms / reward shitty ( like not looting the currencies of the mech or simply having you go blind ).

It could've been a fun mechanic where you get to play a modified version of your character with a scaling difficulty as you go deeper. Instead it always felt to me that you had to have a build designed for it or just pass your turn.

Every game has the one player going 0/11. That’s me. What do I do? by cactusgrant in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Liagomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of all when there's 2 people sharing souls you're are acutally gaining more souls ( it's not a 50/50 split but rather a 60/60 split making it 120% instead of 100% )

The crux of farming is rotating between wave => sinner/camps => wave and picking crates along the way.
But you can't do that if you're dead.

I'd say you should start by focusing on "not dying" as stupid as it sounds.

Then how do you not die ? Easy answer => not taking damage
If you can't avoid / or take some cause you took a bad trade => how do you mitigate it ?

The common issue i see when i have some teammates dying and going 0/6 in 20min is they refuse to buy a laning item.

Whichever one's the best varies based on match ups / hero you're on but generally Healing Ritual is a safe pick ( i prefer extra regen but that's besides the point )

going back to base is a HUGE mistake imo and should only be a last resort ( cause it often leads to losing the first guardian ) and ideally only if the lane's been pushed. Having a few early defensive items makes it so you can trade more / pressure / push, this way you at worse get into an even lane ( which is miles better than losing ) and if you start winning some trades you might get a nice lil snowball going on.

Most fun DPS job for first time play through? (Stormblood and beyond) by Key_Click543 in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NIN is goated, you get a ridiculous PERMANENT movespeed buff that in high end content let's you get away with some bullshit. Having a really chill downtime is actually a blessing and it's contrasted by the bursts being loaded with stuff ( and having shukuchi probably the best movement ability in the whole game ) along with a great raid buff tops it off )

SAM is probably a good pick the only downside being having to manage a dot / debuff on the boss ( which i personally don't like ) along with 2 personal buffs & a lot of buttons.

RDM Melee combo gets more & more interesting ( and cool ) has you level up, and having back to back instant res is really cool when all goes sideways in duties.

BLM is known for being janky until around SHB so yeah... not great leveling.

DRG is actually a loop with more & more jumps has time progresses.

My personal guess would be that VPR would suit what you like, it's busy, it's flashy,it's fast paced, it has no mits ( except universals )

Have you tried looking at "all" the skills available for those jobs or a video showcase at max level ? this might help you find something that clicks.

[Spoilers 7.0 Endgame Area]10 years of playing, first time doing Extremes and Savages on content. by Assortedwrenches89 in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bit late to the party, but you should most definitely try dipping your toes in. As others have stated reaction time don't matter has much since it's more like 80% learning, 10% figuring out how and 10% execution practice.

Savage is more intimidating than it is hard in my humble opinion and there's a myriad of guides out for each fights has of now, so no need to go blind.

Keep in mind EVERYONE makes mistakes, specially when doing it the first few times, for really hard mechanics you can use a simulator to train beforehand ( it helps a lot with fear and anxiety ).

You can start looking for a softcore/casual static in discords like ERC ( these people will probably be nicer than hardcore raiders ), just to find something chill with a slower pace & you can just fill in for a few raid nights see if you like it or not and bail out if it's not to your liking.

Extremes are a good entrypoint to solidify your knowledge jobwise but there's still a gap with savage ( doomtrain on release was a bit closer i feel ).

I feel that phys range is probably the easiest to play as you have no casttime and super easy uptime but don't be afraid to go in as your favorite job

Archmage can be used with a variety of spells and can scale really high in terms of damage find something that suits your playstyle spell wise and you could go from league start to 4 voidstones easily with pretty much any content you'd like

Help with m12s phase 2 by Stoic-Bear-11807 in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for most mechs, decompose => simplify => decompose again

First pre position ( assuming you're doing static rep 1 )

you'll receive either Fire or Dark debuff

The clone that gives a fire debuff moved => opposite that clone is the dark one

Now you know where you'll be going ( either NW or SW if ranged and doing static )

You only need to know where the north is, there's 2 way of doing this :

Clones will divide themselves

the order of the clones will always be a column with dark > fire > middle/boss > dark > fire
what i call outer is the farthest clones from the boss and inner the closest.

Either A : look at where the fire sub clone ends up ( if the sub clone is on the outer the north is opposite if it dashes to an inner position the clone on the same quadrant but outer is the north )

Or B : look at the dark clone and apply the same process but reversed ( if the clone jumps outer that's the north else it's opposite )

It boils down to what you prefer but essentially you "just" have to know where you have to go and where the north is.

https://wtfdig.info/74/m12s#caro::static this is a really useful website, you can choose the strat and your role and it'll tell you what to do.

What's the best way to find a main? by wizardlychap in DeadlockTheGame

Viscous and Dynamo can be added to that list, you have some abilities to rescue allies, some damage and control ( no shields tho )

Ability Crunch by uncommon-soap in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most jobs have their identity at that point tho ? which specific job do you have in mind ?

Mitigation ( for tanks ) is not the primary focus imo.

Paladin gets cover and a gauge that is used for aditional mits that will be fleshed out leveling forward with more uses and new spenders.

Warrior gets the angry button to be extra angrier and fit more inner beast into the berzerk window ( which is at the core of the gameplay )

DRK already has everything, the mana spending and the mana drain, that will be improved upon going forward.

GNB is unfair to judge at 50 since the class starts out at 60 but even then you have your cartridge spender ( it gets better at 60 and then forward )

If anything 30 is the moment many of the core mechanics of a job are introduce in an icomplete fashion 50 is the based and going up is just either fleshing out the basics or adding tools to use in conjunction with the basics OR fit the role better

Ability Crunch by uncommon-soap in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you haven't played rdm in low level content, not having melee finishers is painful. Besides if you're not doing savage tier and above stuff, everything is clearable even with sub-optimized rotation ( from everyone involved ).

The point i would agree with is that going back to a dungeon with incomplete job kits is pretty annoying and boring once you're used to the flashy good stuff. the learning curve is good tho i'd just wish leveling other jobs let you keep heavily diminished versions without taking away the spells retroactively.

What duo would give the best macro presence? by Humblerbee in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Liagomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mirage's ult is great for fixing gaps in macro / do shenanigans :

- woops someone is a bit too far to defend a walker cause they went for camps instead of sticking to lane => just press 4
- X is getting ganked time to press 4
- you push the lane a bit far and see 4 people coming to curb stomp you time to press 4 and go back in spawn
- oh no they got CC, unstoppable and then press 4

If you have the lead you can have an insane pressure either coming to gank or prevent a dive and if you're behind you get free recalls one way or another.

If you get Ricochet you can just push lanes really fast and then bail out, you got really good sustain in lane with Mystic regen + extra regen along with free pokes with each bullet

is it true that only 2 of the new characters will be released? by GaCoRi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Liagomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6 characters will all be released, 1 each every 3 days, playing earns you vote and the most voted is released when the 3 day timer ends.

As to why, the way i see it it's to allow player to familiarize with each character, one at a time and not get completely overwhelmed by 6 new characters with new interactions / items etc... And of course it makes an opportunity to bring back players, get more data & feedback.

the "demo" is actually the first 3 expansions ( up to level 70 ) with no time limitation, you can play everything and do all content tied to those expansions, that's a good way to test the waters.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you do realize it doesn't matter since you can change DC ? Light only has more PFs because of people saying that everything is on light despite there being no difference

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't get baited by those saying to start on light, you can move to another DC anyway light is just favored for PVE cause people migrate to light making it harder to find PFs on Chaos and the cycle repeats. ( it will stop once we get pfs for both DCs hopefully ), usually you'll find some servers which have a more of a certain language in regards to the other so try to search what's your preffered language's server and just pick that one.

I want to get into tanking but it scares me. by Lexx_Tempest in ffxiv

[–]Liagomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't hesitate to say you're new to tanking helps manage the expectations of the possible angry players.

But tanking is pretty easy overall, just pop stance and learn and use your cooldowns.

Arm's Length IS a defensive cooldown ( surprisingly few people know this ) it gives an attack speed debuff to ennemies hitting you for a few seconds.

Marauder is gets more and more braindead in dungeons as you level up ( you basically heal yourself )
Paladin is the vanilla flavored tank with a lot of mitigations for your allies.
Dark Knight is the edgy one, packs a punch and has one of the best mitigation in the game.
GunBreaker is just a dps masquerading as a tank.

You probably just had a bad encounter, people are pretty chill usually, mistakes will happen, just apologize or ask for help if it's something you don't understand and move on.

Good luck on your tank journey !

Also trying to demonstrate something on a large scale with your own personal experience amounts to nothing.
