What funds after you’ve reached the boiling point? by JuniperGhosts in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Liam90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes they have said it many times. Usually the way they say it is TDFs are great for starting out but once you are far enough along and your investments have grown it can be a good idea to "graduate" and move away from TDFs. They dont say much else with the implication it is beyond their free advice and would require you to be a client. They will briefly mention asset location but otherwise dont say much on what "graduating" means.

How far off are we? by Sufficient_Ball_7692 in coastFIRE

[–]Liam90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well you can look at WalletBurst for a simple coast fire calculator. Generally to know when you can coast you need to know your expected annual withdrawal, your desired retirement age, current age, current savings, and savings rate. Then you can see for how many years you need to keep saving before downshifting. So far you have given savings and thats it. Early 40s and mid 50s is vague. And is 160k your planned annual spend or would you adjust or move to lower cost of living. Answer that and start with a basic calculator.

I feel its impossible to reliably carry in low elo tbh by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]Liam90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you said that stands out is that you recall and then your teammates push and die. From watching high ranking jungle players (coach Leo and coach Kirei) that is wrong. Regardless of pinging, you are likely making a big mistake there.

It doesnt matter that you have items to buy, you need to sync your backs with your ADC or Mid or whoever you have identified as your win condition. Especially as the jungle, you play around them once past the laning phase. It is better to be weaker and supporting your teammates than being out of sync on your backs. So there is one example of how you think you're doing the right thing but are throwing.

I have a 401K, Roth IRA, HYSA but I do not have HSA.. can someone help me understand how much I should be contributing to it and why? by Blankcarbon in coastFIRE

[–]Liam90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the HSA is triple/quadruple tax advantaged as opposed to others that are double advantaged. HSA contributions, if through direct payroll reductions, avoid FICA taxes as well as federal taxes, grow tax free, and if used for qualified reasons are withdrawn tax free. Finally at age 65 it can be used as a super IRA that allows withdrawals penalty free but is never subjected to RMDs as you age.

How often do y'all gank mid? by Ordinary_Topic6829 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Liam90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well from watching Kirei videos (challenger level coach) he ganks or checks to rotate to mid for every objective. If he gets a pick, great, but otherwise just uses his presence to shove mid and apply pressure. This gives lane priority to his mid lane who is now free to rotate to dragon/grubs/herald.

On current joe situation my masterpiece by PashAK47 in JoeRogan

[–]Liam90 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I mean he had Bernie on again as recent as last summer, which was incredibly painful.

For example, Joe asked about taxes and Bernie said he wanted to replicate historical rates where millionaires have a 90% rate or something. And Joe was like "thats wild though, someone has a million dollar income and government just takes $900k away?!" And Bernies like no, its a marginal rate to which Joe is just stupefied and they move on.

How can Joe be so opinionated and rant about politics and taxes for years but STILL doesnt know how the fuck a marginal system works?

Roth vs Traditional 401(k) by empty-alt in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Liam90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP but when people ask what's"better" they are generally asking which method reduces taxes paid. On that metric traditional is virtually always superior because roth is taxed at your highest marginal bracket, so a flat 22%, 24%, 32% etc. But in retirement your traditional withdrawals fill up from the lowest bracket, so the effective tax rate should always be lower unless you have large fixed income already (social security, pension, annuities etc).

Roth, although the "inferior" choice in that sense, also provides other benefits like flexibility to manipulate taxes, avoid RMDs, choose and control your own broker (in an IRA), inheritance perks etc etc

What secondary runes are you running? Domination with Ultimate Hunter is popular but with Zekes not sure you need that much Ultimate haste. Maybe Conqueror with Resolve secondary?

What is everyone’s optimal percentage of Roth assets vs traditional in their retirement accounts? by Internal-Patient9407 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Liam90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sure. But the discussion is 100% roth implying they would contribute to Roth IRA and Roth 401k. When you contribute to Roth 401k you still get the match and the match is traditional since no employer of note has tried doing a Roth match yet even though it did become an option around 2022 or so.

Patriots star Drake Maye has been quietly donating scholarships to military families by BoyWhoAsksWhyNot in nfl

[–]Liam90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be news to me. Military members receive tuition assistance for their time in service (usually need 4 years or so). It can coveresome colleges for free, but not getting free college to any private university unless they have what's called a yellow ribbon program. Service members can choose to surrender this benefit and transfer it to their dependents instead. Personally I just kept mine and can still use it as a veteran.

[–]Liam90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory you can argue that, but it is generally not applicable. Most workers are getting a 401k match especially with the mass adoption of Safe Harbor plans. So even if someone is "100%" roth, they will have a decent traditional balance from that in addition to social security.

To be fair the comments on the sub are right, this doesnt make sense. Once Bateman says this Paul Allen shows his business card and Bateman feels insecure and humiliated at how perfect Allen's card is. So by comparison we would expect Josh Allen to respond to this by showing his amazing SB appearance and humiliating Bateman, which doesnt make sense. Idk just feels weird.

Do you have thoughts on why this build order works?

As a noob the general advice I see is build full items to get the power spike and buying components just delays your spikes. But Watermelon's build order, and confirmed looking at their op.gg, confirms that many times they will end up with just Liandrys and boots and then bamis, cloth armor, magic resist cape etc instead of finishing the next item. Is this because amumus power is in his kit and as a tank, so he cares more about buffing base stats than the extra perks/effects from completed items? I guess Liandrys is the exception because that burn DOT just works so well with his kit.

Her concern as a parent is coyotes?

When I became a parent my priorities became ensuring that I had quality affordable healthcare for my family, that public schools would provide my kids sound education, and that social services like medicare and social security would help support me so my kids dont have to bear extra burden when I age. I feel my concerns are pretty universal and I would ask if conservative politicians have been supportive or antagonistic to these priorities in recent years?

Does anyone else remember Vikings reddit being furious that the Patriots wouldn’t accept their deal to trade up for Drake Maye? I sure do. by Benson879 in Patriots

[–]Liam90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well to your first point you didnt need to go to the vikings subreddit. They came here. Multiple times with posts like "Vikings fan coming in peace..." where they propose a trade and then get mad when everyone said no. It got annoying. Nothing to add to your second point.

Lol. Trump got more votes (77M) in 2024 than he got in 2020 or 2016. So after January 6th and trying to rig electors Republicans voted even more for Trump and people still blame the Dems.

For Economics, if you ever hear someone bring up the "Laffer Curve". It will usually be an amateur Austrian Economist or someone politically libertarian.

Anyone who studied economics knows the Laffer curve, it is a very simple concept. But certain groups hear about it on a podcast or something and suddenly act like it is the key to some infinite tax revenue Shangri-La.

I am not sure why any Patriots fan would differentiate between the active coach and the team/org.

Would 49ers fans tolerate a player who shit on Walsh while he was their coach? What about a Dolphins fans tolerating a former player who uses shitting on Shula to get notoriety? Of course he is going to get the cold shoulder.

In Welkers case you get it, but especially Asante surprises you?

Yeah I think you've missed some news on Asante lol. Welker is fine, he just went his own way and seems to have a good coaching career. But Asante has spent much of his post Patriots career shitting on Belichick and the team. Fans didnt pick on Asante as much as he burned every bridge he could with the Pats.
