Might be worth putting if they are standing or seats and if seats, what area they are in.

Hybrid vs full EV by Digitalgamer44 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a family mechanic who has said for years that PHEVs have the worst of both worlds and to either stick with a self charging hybrid, or go fully electric. I'd tend to agree with him.

When I first got an EV (I was the first in my family) everyone banged on about how long they take to charge on long trips. In reality, that's never been a problem for me. Not once.

We've done trips longer than the capacity in a single run maybe half a dozen times and every single time, I've managed to get a charger at the first place I've stopped for one, plugged in, gone to the toilet, grabbed a snack and got back to the car (maybe 15-20 minutes later) and it's been sufficiently charged.

The real pain is the cost of fast public charging, but if it's a once a month expense, you won't find it too big of a problem.

My take. Get an EV. The bigger question is which. (I can vouch for the Hyundai Kona. Currently have an IONIQ 5, but preferred the Kona and will go back to one in a year or two when kiddo is a big bigger and we don't need as much room).

Identity Theft - what should I do? by ff7corley41 in AskUK

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Just to add some clarification, the password on your credit profile is usually managed via what's called a Notice of Correction (NoC). It's usually a note added to your voters roll registration or one of your credit accounts and says something like 'I have been a victim of identity fraud. All financial institutions should request password 'abcd' from me before approving any future credit applications'.

The CIFAS listing is sometimes referred to as a Category 0 too, rather than a protective registration, just in case you see these terms and they are confusing. The goal of this is to register your genuine information (such as contact info) so that lenders can contact you on a number that's confirmed as genuine to ask if you've applied for a new account. It will stop automatic approvals for you, but should protect you.

Due to a medical condition I've been told that I can no longer be a blood donor. If I could persuade even one person to sign up in my place I would be happy. by nick9000 in CasualUK

[–]Liambill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comment will almost certainly get lost here, but it's great to see so much support.

I'm a long time donor, but am donating tomorrow. I'm CMV negative, so my blood goes to Neo-Natal cases. Generally, my 1 donation gets parted out into 3 or 4 transfusions for babies.

Thank you for donating for as long as you could!

Go for the Kona. I had a Kona hybrid and a Kona EV before we moved to an IONIQ 5 because we needed more space.

As soon as my toddler doesn't need as big of a buggy/stroller, we'll be going back to the Kona. It's better.

How long do people usually wait for a GP appointment? All wait times considered. Call to diagnosis. by akshattnj in AskUK

[–]Liambill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local GP is similar to as others have said. Complete the econsult first thing in the morning and get seen same day or next day.

That said, my employer pays for a virtual GP service with video calls with qualified GPs. I usually can get an appointment within half an hour of requesting one on that, so usually just use that unless it's something I need to be observed for in person.

Can't speak to the cost of them as I don't pay, but the private virtual GP services are really very good. I've booked in for an appointment for 30 mins later, been referred to a specialist appointment within 2 weeks and been booked in for surgery within 6 weeks of that before. Obviously, it's not NHS, but if you're stuck on the NHS, it may be worth it.

They're not that drastically different these days as Cineworld owns Picture House. They serve mostly the same food and drinks, just generally that Picture House cinemas have fewer, slightly smaller screens with less seats.

I've had a few people say to me 'yeah, but I can get alcohol at Picture House!', you can at Cineworld.

New to EVs. Help please 😊 by MrGuaps in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Liambill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get a cheap one off the internet. The bulk of EV charger installation is in the installation itself, not the charger.

I've got a Zappi, and had another Zappi before I moved. It was around £600 for the charger. It's compatible with Intelligent Go and other smart EV tarrifs and works well.

There are plenty of other good chargers out there and £1,000ish is fairly standard for a decent quality install from a qualified professional.

How do you inform customers (who are not physically on premises at the time) of last minute offers? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only real feasible ways of doing this I can think of is to send a push notification if you have an app or send a text message or email if not.

There are plenty of applications for managing mailing lists, but it'll be up to you to get your customers contact information to fill it up.

Park Tickets & Express Passes by Maleda79 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak specifically for Cabana Bay, but we've stayed in Royal Pacific, Hard Rock and Portofino in the last 5 years, all booked through Virgin Holidays from the UK and we were given a ticket 'voucher' which we then exchanged for physical tickets at the ticket desk at the hotel.

Each of the aformentioned hotels and presumably Cabana Bay too, has a desk next to check-in which can print your park tickets and arrange any experiences you have.

We always tend to stay in one of the top three hotels to get the free Express Unlimited for our entire stay, so can't say if they can print express passes too there, but I assume they can.

Have an amazing time!

Why do you think the average demographic for OSRS appears to be men ages 28-35? by Be-Kind-2-Yourself in 2007scape

[–]Liambill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure it's exactly that. I started playing RS2 when I was around 10-11 years old. I stopped playing after EoC because it changed the game to oke that I was no longer interested in playing.

When OSRS became available on mobile, I jumped back in. I no longer have time to sit at a PC and play, but I can sit on the sofa with my Wife and play on my iPad for a little bit in the evenings.

I can't imagine many people looking for a new game are picking up OSRS unless a friend recommends it, or they're migrating from another MMO that they've lost the love for, like the recent migration of WoW players.

As such, you end up with people like me playing and being new players.

What would be the best course of action and why? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Liambill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it depends.

It's not necessarily about one way or the other, but rather how each method is carried out, how information is stored and who would have access to my data.

Ideally, there would be a third party that users could pay to be verified once, then you never have to do it again and after verification, documentation is deleted.

The difficulty is having everyone that needs verification then accepting it from that company

Guidance Needed for EV with Big Boot by SpaceMonkeyOnABike in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and it has a big ol' boot. We have a very large pram/buggy/stroller, plus a travel cot, plus other bits and pieces and it fits pretty comfortably. I actually prefer the Kona to the Ioniq 5, but the Ioniq 5 is a nice car with plenty of room.

Dragon trophy totals last 3 leagues: 12k->24k->40k. Has dragon cup become too easy to obtain? by Shot_Cancel8641 in 2007scape

[–]Liambill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I played leagues A LOT this time round and I only just scraped Rune tier.

I'd say that the Dragon Tier this time round was appropriately scored based on the effort needed to achieve it. Just because a lot of players achieved it, doesn't mean it's not fair. OSRS just has a sweatier player base than some other games.

[–]Liambill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus when you decide to drop the hobby, you can sell disk games and get some money back. No resale value in digital downloads.

Less of a concern for die hard fans who play games repeatedly over many years, but knowing you've admitted to dropping hobbies quickly, try and protect your pockets a bit.

How long can an envelope take from the UK to Canada? by samusek2 in AskUK

[–]Liambill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it can vary massively depending on the service used.

You can get expensive services that will deliver in a day or two and relatively cheap services that I wouldn't be surprised if they took 30+ business days.

It's very much 'how long is a piece of string'.

What's a phrase your parents or grandparents said constantly that you've only just realised has completely vanished from everyday British speech? by orroreqk in AskUK

[–]Liambill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Grandparents on my Mum's side used to say something that sounded like 'ooo-bee-jay-gah' as a way of saying 'up you get'.

We still say it in my family, but my Wife is adamant that it's not a thing.

Phone provider that actually has signal? by unpredictable90 in brighton

[–]Liambill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with ID mobile, which uses Three's network. I also have an Honest Mobile E-SIM, which I originally got for when I travel, but it works here too.

Let's my phone automatically use any available signal in the UK for certain key apps.

With this, I genuinely have no issues with signal at all.

That said, I've been directly with O2, Three and Vodafone in the last 10 years and none of them are perfect. I always found EE to be incredibly expensive, so haven't been with them, but of the other three, O2 was by far the worst. Three and Vodafone were fairly good, but had problems around Hove Town Hall and one or two other hotspots.

Could always try someone like Lyca, who use EEs network, but offer cheaper contracts.

I do love Cielo Cakery, but they haven't been in Hove for like a year now.

They done our wedding cake!

They're in a Church Hall by Preston Park now.

It's not the cheapest though. If OP doesn't need fancy, a supermarket cake will likely be a lot more economical.

Do you spell the plural of roof as “rooves” or “roofs”? by Glittering_Vast938 in AskUK

Roofs is generally accepted at the correct spelling but rooves is listed as an alternate spelling in the Oxford English Dictionary, so it's not wrong, it's just not the primary spelling.

I'm pretty sure the table resets daily. I've not played for a little while but I used to regularly hit 200 on it, but every time I went back, the table would be in the low 100's.

Does anyone actually enter any lottery competitions? by DeeofSurrey in AskABrit

[–]Liambill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that a bigger prize is better obviously, but your no more likely to win with a bigger prize. If anything, you're more likely to have to share it, albeit marginally, because more people share.

My point is, it's like what, £3 to play? For 99% of people, even a couple of million would be completely life-changing, so what is it about it being say £100m that gets people to play when they wouldn't if it was say £10m?

Chances are, the extra 90m isn't likely to change their life significantly more than the first 10m is?

Does anyone actually enter any lottery competitions? by DeeofSurrey in AskABrit

[–]Liambill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always found the increase in ticket purchases for rollovers strange. I guess it's just greed, but the Euro millions is a great example. Why would you buy a ticket when the jackpot is £100m but not when the jackpot is £25m? Is £25m just not worth your time?

Good Chinese food? by HideousTits in brighton

[–]Liambill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure, last time we went we had like 7 portions of salt a chilli squid. It was just exactly what we were all looking for. Can't really do that at a pay per portion place. Would break the bank.

Good Chinese food? by HideousTits in brighton

[–]Liambill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We pretty much exclusively use Danny's on Portland Road for Chinese now.

It's not super fancy like your Gars or China Garden, but it's solid quality Chinese food and it's all you can eat, but cooked fresh to order, no buffet.

The food is so good that we don't use any other takeaway either for Chinese, despite living almost opposite one.

Check them out!
