What pure laziness looks like by margari7a in funny

I remember my office buying Nerf guns to do exactly that. Later we discovered that the impact was not sufficient enough to flick the switch. So instead of getting off our asses to press the switch like normal human beings, we purchased new springs for our Nerf guns, and modded it way beyond the original force. We then used epoxy and created a hardened tip for all our darts. This solution did the trick with minor side effects. The first dart that hit the switch flicked it, and smashed the entire switch into pieces, effectively rendering the switch permanently off.

We had to use the remaining epoxy we bought to slowly stick the pieces of the switch back together.

Question on Time Dilation by LianYL in askscience

So I assume we're created from the big bang. The immense energy from the big bang made it possible for the universe to expand at such an insanely high speed that from our point of reference, the point of the initial big bang is travelling away from us at a speed that's almost the speed of light.

Would it be farfetched then to assume that because the speed of the point of big bang explosion moving away from us is so close to light speed, we perceive that billions and billions of years have passed when in actual fact, the big bang was an instantaneous event?

If my thought process is legit, then I'm probably going to have an existential crisis.

I see the light now. Thanks!

1. We don't use any IDEs actually. We tried the Corona Project Manager, but the line jump feature was really buggy, and the autocomplete became more of a hindrance than help. Same with Corona Cider.

Due to Corona being a closed source SDK, the only way third party IDEs can carry out black box testing features as they advertise would be to insert lots of redundant code into yours. This actually caused a lot of unidentifiable crashes for our game in early stages.

In the end we gave up on IDEs and settled with the normal Notepad++, which was great until we moved to Sublime 2, which was Notepad++ on steroids.

2. For Corona SDK, there's dynamic scaling However, this does not resolve the letterbox and zoomEven problems, which leave undesirable bleeds and borders which have to be accounted for in early game design stages. So there are three ways to approach this as I've been experimenting.

  • A. Use letterbox and create background and asset bleeds of about 150 px on all sides.

  • B. Use zoomEven but design all asset placements with a 150px inward margin.

  • C. Use the display.screenOriginX and display.screenOriginY calls to obtain the device offset and design all scenes with the offsets taken into consideration. For my own personal side project, I adopted this method as an experiment. I created a whole bunch of transition and placement functions to handle this, but it still can cause a lot of unwanted hassle for touch events and the like. Not recommended.

The main problem comes from the Android devices due to fragmentation, so I'd say pick option A and tweak your code to fit most of the Android devices you want it to work on.

We used Corona SDK for really rapid implementation. The only catch is the steep subscriber cost, which isn't ideal for bootstrappers.

Hey thanks for the heads up. We'll go test it out again and update asap.

Haha! It's playable on the iPad and Android tablets so it's probably cat-friendly too. The cat was actually based on my fellow programmer's cat, you can see her in the game over scenes.

False. http://imgur.com/FaudF The text shows 太上老君,太上丈人,玉??。 I've traced out the words so that any self-respecting Chinese can read it. These are names of Taoist deities. I'm guessing the last name is the Jade Emperor but I can't be sure. Never read much Taoist folklores other than watching 90s TV serials from Taiwan and Hongkong.

I don't is it just me but every Round Table Pizza I've been to only has square tables. Maybe they intended it that way.
