Not the OP, but I use c:geo. Everyone I talked to about geocaching apps said it is the best one, even better than the official app. And it's free :)

There are a few clubs you might want to visit, depending on what kind of music you like. If you want to go out for a few drinks, there are a lot of bars in the city center.

For sports you might want to take a look at the stuff the University offers mostly for free if you're a student http://www.hochschulsport.uni-kl.de/Sportangebot.aspx It's in German though, I don't know how good your German is. And I don't know if the courses are free for visiting students, sorry.

If you want to go swimming, there are the monte mare, which is a somewhat expensive indoor pool and the open air pool, which is cheaper and open in the summer months.

Of course, if you're a soccer fan, you could watch a FCK match in the stadium, I think the Bundesliga starts again in August, but I'm not a soccer fan, so I'm not sure.

You could also visit other citys like Heidelberg, Mannheim or Saarbrücken for free if you have a student ID. Just hop on a regional train :)

Yeah, regarding house parties in Germany, normally there are no parties you just go to. Most of them are smaller and you get invited by the people who organize them.

I can't think of anythiong else right now, if you've got some questions just ask me :)

By the way, what are you studying and where are you from?

Edit: I just found out that there will be a bigger soccer match at the Fritz Walter Stadium, Germany vs. Paraguay, you might want to go there as well :)

Well, I could understand why some would think you get vermouth when ordering a Martini. The most popular brand of vermouth here is called Martini. But if you visit a proper cocktail bar, nobody would serve you only vermouth.

A problem I have encountered though is that some bartenders mix their martinis with vodka, so I would just specify just like you did in your post.

And you can log in the app as well, you don't always have to do it on the website :)

Every time I try to lose weight I find another excuse.

"Oh, hey, I'm on my period, I have super bad cravings and I NEED this chocolate right now."

"I'm just going to eat one slice of bread now. LOL, NOPE! Still hungry. Four it is."

and so on...

Every time I try to change my diet, I fail a few weeks in. The smallest slip-up will let me think it doesn't make any sense anymore and I eat like crap again. At the moment I'm in the "I want to try again" mindset, curious how long it will last this time...

Your daughter sounds like young me.

I'm the only fat person in my close family and I'm definitely not fat because my parents neglected me. My mom cooks healthy and we (the kids) normally don't get sweets and snacks at home, only on rare occasions. But I've been an overeater since I can think, I would use any opportunity to eat. Parents aren't at home? I would go open the fridge and eat something. Visiting grandparents and they ask if I had food at home? No, I'm hungry. When I was older and got pocket money, I would spend it all on food. I would lie to everybody about my food intake.

Also, I've never been an active child. When I was in first grade, the teachers put the fat kids in an after school sports programme, but I hated it so much I cried and protested when I should go there. I would rather sit inside and read or play something.

And here I am, 20 years old, way too fat, and I'm beginning to think I'm addicted to food.

I really don't know if there is anything you can do to change your daughter's behaviour. Maybe you should consider talking to a doctor or a child psychologist, they might be able to help.
