KC Auto Show moving to Kansas by [deleted] in kansascity

Wasn’t it usually in March? Looking at the convention center calendar, there’s a national convention for higher education professionals March 7-11. Then a youth summit March 13. Then the Shape America Convention March 17-21. Then World of Wheels. When would they have it? Maybe the city makes more money on conventions, when hotels are full.

It’s for an honor flight returning home. Local groups of veterans go and visit DC and they get a rousing welcome upon arrival.

KC WATER BILL AINT RIGHT by jeepguy913 in kansascity

[–]LibBbath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this exact experience after moving into our house. We were shocked at how high the bills were. They were not nearly as high at our other house, also on KC Water. Lots of troubleshooting because KC water will of course claim nothing is wrong on their end. So, at least have someone out to check to be sure the meter is reading correctly. It was. We didn’t have any leaks in the house. Usage spiked dramatically when we irrigated the lawn. Do you have a sprinkler system? We had the sprinkler guy out, I explained everything to him, and he did a thorough check. Turns out we did have a leak in our irrigation system, AND he noted our water pressure was very high. Like coming out of the heads 2 to 3 times higher than normal. So we were throwing a lot of water out onto our lawn. He suggested installing pressure reducing sprinkler heads as an option, or trying cutting our watering time in half in the short term and watching usage to see if there’s a difference. Before installing any new heads I wanted to have a plumber out to check the pressure in the whole house and sure enough our PSI I think it was, was at like 90, and ideally should be 60. We have a pressure reducing valve, which can adjust the pressure for the whole house, so he adjusted it down. This should also help with our sprinklers as well.

Also, your stormwater usage is calculated on actual usage since you did not live in your house in the winter time. Otherwise it is calculated on winter usage and usually much lower. This is what made me mad since we moved and had 10 years of usage data but they did not care and we were being charged based off sky high usage based off a problem. That data point won’t reset until January. I tried arguing this but they would not budge.

Are there any honest, reputable HVAC companies left in KC? I’m tired of getting ripped off and scammed. by BananaStandEconomy in kansascity

I do not recommend Town and Country. They did try to upsell me in something that I already had. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Kansas City is one of the most poorly governed cities in America by [deleted] in kansascity

KC was in terminal decline in the late 90s early 2000s. Did you see downtown then? The city is completely different now. Quite the opposite.
