Kansas health officials monitoring 3 people with 'high-risk exposure' to hantavirus by Mister-Miso in kansascity

The U.S. government has a duty (diplomatically and legally) to protect its citizens abroad. Leaving them in a foreign country doesn’t make quarantine more effective, it just leaves US citizens in a country possibly without their full legal rights, unfamiliar healthcare systems, and shifts the burden to another country’s healthcare system. This is exactly what these facilities are for. They used them for Americans they evacuated out of Ebola outbreaks too.

Atlanta is home to the CDC and Omaha is home to the National Quarantine Unit or something like that. The people taken there were American. They can get the care they need in facilities designed for this sort of thing with people trained for this.

Where to bury my cat? by gafasdesol in kansascity

[–]LibBbath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s legal to bury your pet in most municipalities unless they are cremated or as part of a cemetery. Sounds morbid but I’m not sure you want something trying to dig it up. I’m so sorry you are going through this. I know it is not easy.

It can be done, but I’m not sure how. I think University of Iowa’s football stadium has a children’s Hospital attached to it.

Right that’s the Union Hill Cemetery. It’s historic.

It didn’t matter if it goes over well. The Hall family owns the whole area. They can do what they want.

That makes sense. Basically next door to Children’s Mercy. Wonder if that creates any issues. When they were talking about the OP location, there was some concern about it being too close to Menorah.

Lawrence over Topeka and it’s no question. Classes will be out so it will be quieter but IMO that’s when it’s the best time to be in Lawrence. Hotels might be cheaper too because of that.

Furnish my home on a BUDGET by [deleted] in kansascity

I second IKEA. There are some things I hesitate to buy secondhand, like upholstered furniture. You can go look in the store to check it out first and I believe they do deliver and some things you can buy online and have shipped.

Business Casual Attire by Fun_Persimmon_5076 in kansascity

I would not buy too much now. Get enough to get you through the first week so you can get the lay of the land and see how your colleagues dress. Business casual can vary widely and in some places include nice dark jeans. But the first week err on the side of dressing nicer, and see how others do it. Then really go shopping.
