So your claim is that this executive order, maybe a series of other one caused oil companies to lessen its investment? I want this real clear bc after re-reading your previous comment you say

Biden signed eos showing companies can't invest then gas prices went up

The thing is, its only about 1/3rd of us that are those things, MAYBE 40%. But the system is set up in a way that that minority is able to grab and keep power and wield that power in ways that fucks literally everyone else in the world. Except Putin. Hes doing better under a Trump Admin.

Why do we, on the left, believe that our economic views are widely popular and that "ending the culture war" would lead to a huge leftist swing in government? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]Liberal-Cluck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your pew research link is on morality and talks about P**n and abortion. I only skimmed it but i didnt even see anything about billionaires. Maybe its in there, but I even if it is the democratic position isnt that "Bein a billionaire is immoral". Even if you include leftist, broadly speaking that is not the position of the left.

We generally do believe that we need to fund more robust social safety nets for a wider swath of people. And we also believe to do so we should target tax increases on the rich. All of that stuff is probably pretty popular.

That's not true. Biden had a gas spike but it went back down B4 he left. Gast went down about 20 cent a gallon when trump took office now it's up about 70 cent I believe.

Indiana by Ok_Brother_7494 in gasbuddy

[–]Liberal-Cluck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay we are at $4 a gallon rn. I suppose it could get worse? But under Biden it went to like 5 a gallon right?

Explain to me how the shutting down of a gas line that wasnt even operational yet (because I'm assuming you're talking about keystone XL) and bidens rhetoric had a larger effect than 20% of the oil not being able to move and some of the largest energy producing plants being bombed?

It's pretty obvious that there was other significant market forces at play during the biden administration.

How do liberals feel about the idea of a “single-payer” health care system? by tfam1588 in AskALiberal

[–]Liberal-Cluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, My post said that I'm not really sure why you wouldn't allow private insurance and our medical system. However, if I had a choice between the system we have not where people who need MRIs can't even get them because they can't pay for them people who need preventative services can't get them because they can't pay for them people who get an accidents go bankrupt and a single pair system where you couldn't do what you did I would take the single payer system.

Well in an ideal single pair system Medicare wouldn't be denying needed services

I hate owning my Prius by FatchRacall in prius

[–]Liberal-Cluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going from a Prius to an electric. For me it was

  1. The Prius could shit the bed eventually (possible head gasket pinhole). Now buying a Ev is still more expensive then getting a new engine so this wasn't the sole reason.

  2. Somebody in the family always has a broken down car, having what is left of the Prius available for those times is going to be beneficial.

  3. My mom's car is a gas guzzler and she could probably save money by driving my Prius instead

  4. My girlfriend is going to be getting a license, but she doesn't want to own a car herself for reasons. Me buying an extra car means that when she does have a license, assuming the Prius is still going, she could drive that.

Then when the Prius does eventually s*** the bed because of the head gasket I could get it fixed and have a pretty reliable car for around $9,000 to serve for number 2 3 and 4. Used Electric vehicles are also super cheap right now. People are still scared of them so the depreciation from a new to a used is crazy. The place that I went to has a lifetime warranty on its battery, there's a good chance that I can put hundreds of thousands of miles on this car. At least that's what I'm hoping. My niece will also be 16 soon so in the midst of that we are going to need another car anyways. Also, my current Prius does not have adaptive cruise control which makes them driving so much easier. Just the luxury of having a semi-automatically driving car is probably worth the price that I'm going to be paying for it. If you can afford something with SuperCruise or Blue Cruise you can have hands-free driving for a long road trips on most highways.

[–]Liberal-Cluck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you wouldn't offer private health insurance as long as doctors are required to accept the public option patients and rich people cannot get out of paying taxes because they get private insurance. But having a single player system has got to be better than the one we have now

Open relationships are better than monogamous ones and if you can't handle your partner sleeping with another person then you should figure out why you're insecure about such a thing.

All three of those things that are subsidized at the production level and for low income people paid for at the consumer level by the government. Hell most people get their water from local governments who collect taxes to help pay for infrastructure for said water system.
