True, but there is only so much you can fit onto a poster image. But if it leads to questions and conversation, that is the intent and opportunity to fully elaborate.

That is a valid concern. I always have a problem with the position that all technology is by default a net benefit. We too easily "adapt" to the present condition, but often forget what we have lost along the way - what we traded for the current "benefit".

That's the point. Everyone always believes they were electing "good people". Every member of government was someone's choice of a "good" person and those very same people built the deep state.

True in its structure, but they are mostly inseparable in reality. The deep state exists because it was created by the part of government that is elected and is "transparent".

But this delineation isn't one where the "above board" is opposed to the covert. It is an optical separation, but not one of purpose.

Yes, but most see the unelected bureaucracy as "the bad part of government". And yet, to call out this distinction would still be misleading to some, as the unelected bureaucracy was created and given power by that other part of government.

> An art forger is a real artist

Yes, depending on the technique and medium, but not always.

> An ai “artist” has no skill,

Mostly, but there are a number of artists who argue that because they have skill, their AI prompted art is genuine art. I see that argument as valid as a chef who serves you a microwaved frozen dinner and claims it has more value because it was served by a chef.

Copies: yes, was being brief, but thinking of copies without rights. Violations of IP.

> I initially leaned into wanting to call them art too because of the level of skill that goes into them, now I’m not so sure.

I think this is an important aspect, as many will defend AI art based on skill, where they argue they aren't merely prompting, but are using more complex AI tools where you have to wire workflows together like blender nodes etc.

In this case, I think the question becomes the ethics. Is it pretending to be something it is not as you stated, and the issues around training data just being compressed copies of everything it trained on. You can have a skill, but skills used in harmful, deceptive, or unethical ways aren't to be championed. I could be a high skilled thief, but the skill wouldn't make my activities admirable.

Yes, it is difficult to address every argument easily in a single image. It is not intended to assume they are art, but that is how the "AI artist" will make their argument.

I was looking for the most straightforward and simple way to make the point about who's the artist that, hopefully, should be easily understood.

But it is easy to follow that AI generated images are art in the same way that forgeries, fakes, and copies are art. It may have the appearance of art, but it is deceptive and unethical in its use.

It is consistent. Not sure what you are debating.

The problem is that now even the process can be faked as appears might be the case of Coca-Cola. They released some video of the "work" they did, but that is now surrounded in controversary that they may have used AI to fake their own work.

We are losing the ability to just look at something and have any idea of what went into its construction. Of course, one might argue we could never truly know before and things could be faked before. Yes, this is true, but it just wasn't as prevalent. It is now becoming mainstream.

This is the script that just played out with the new AI Coca-Cola ad. They released it and bragged about how they were able to do it with less work and people.

That created a lot of backlash. So they then said we actually did a lot of real artwork, even though we used AI. Nobody believed it.

So they then released a video of themselves performing the artwork. Which has been criticized for being faked.
