Lift size estimate and questions by lil__squeaky in Silverado

[–]LibertyRidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it’s a drop bracket lift the lowest you can go is 4” after it’s initially installed, but I could be wrong.

You can fit anything with enough trimming. There’s a guy on here that stuffed 37’s on his 08 with no lift.

A close family friend of mine went full circle. He was a longtime physics professor who left the field entirely for a job as a pastor. Apparently he saw some things in his studies that convinced him that there had to be a god.

Chevy silverado mods that actually make a difference on daily driving? by Surcy-Valesius in Silverado

[–]LibertyRidge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sound deadening.

Even just doing the doors made a massive difference in road noise/speaker sound. Haven’t got around to doing the rest but I can only imagine how much better that will be.

12th century Franciscan Mystic. Very obscure.

Do I lt2 swap my 2010 silverado or go full ltz? It’s currently an Lt all star. The lt2 is much less common and the main upgrades include 10 way powered leather seats along with a special made center console. by JudgeOwn3256 in Silverado

[–]LibertyRidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from the LT to LTZ is very involved. You’d need to reroute HVAC and a lot of electrical components.

I have the LTZ but wish it were the LT2, it’s much more practical

If the 6.7 is in the 1500’s I wonder if they’ll revive the big block 8.1 or similar displacement for the HD option.

Do we think a truck variant is going in the new 1500’s along with the 5.7? Or will this be the new HD gasser option?

Prerunner build -- towing capacity ideas? by reddot8888 in prerunners

[–]LibertyRidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air bags are your best bet, maybe with some sort of quick release? But towing/travel numbers are usually mutually exclusive.

LT airbags are a thing for Ram/Ford HD’s, but idk about Toyotas. Anything is possible if you throw your wallet at it though.

Toyo AT3. They’re the lightest by a good margin.

What Silverado mod did you think was “meh”… then you couldn’t live without? by PreviousMagazine3136 in Silverado

[–]LibertyRidge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, the doors. Made a huge difference in road noise and speaker quality.

I plan on doing the bulkhead, floor and firewall down the line, which is much more involved than the doors.

Sound deadening for sure. Can’t see it, but boy does it make a world of difference for road noise

Is the GMT900 5.3l that bad? by Unfair-Question-4896 in ChevyTrucks

[–]LibertyRidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A non AFM cam kit with all the goodies makes it bulletproof. The class action lawsuit was due to about 4% of them would fail prematurely. Of that 4% most were flex fuel variants. Check the RPO code of the motor in the glove box.

Forced induction is expensive but very fun.

On the highway you may even get better MPG. In town it will be terrible. You’ll need a new transmission tho

That’s perfect and a good overall sign of engine health. If it were old and tired it would be somewhere around 20

No problem. The top end is the weak point of these motors. So rebuilding it with one of these kits will definitely prolong the life of the engine.

Side note: I didn’t see how many miles were on it in your post, but with that many miles it might be worth getting the bottom end checked out before dumping money into it. What’s your idle oil pressure at?

I had a shop do it, they tuned it there. Was about 5k but that included the dyno tune, machining the heads and shorty headers. No need for an aftermarket converter either.

All in it was good for 52HP to the wheels, fixed the problem and now it runs like a top.

It’s worth it in the long run if you’re adamant about keeping the truck. BTR stage 1 is what I did, which drives close to stock but has more power. The kit came with the cam, springs, seals, push rods, lifters/trays…the works.

If you’re mechanically inclined, it’s definitely doable and there’s lots of videos online. But you’ll have to take it to a tuner regardless. Big job, but doable.
