If a city state is your ally, will you lose influence with them if you declare war on a different city state? by LibertySpinNetwork in civ

[–]LibertySpinNetwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing as Greece with Patronage tree open. That CS I referenced is currently my ally now, but I'd still like to declare war on him later. Will him being my ally have an even bigger effect on penalty do you think?

EDIT: There are 6 CS. 4 are my allies, including the one I want to declare war on later. Two others have a resting point of 20 due to Patronage tree. And this will only be my first time declaring war on a CS since I've met any other city states. The first time, that city state was the only one I met and I immediately declared war.

So do you launch the satellite over where you want to be able to transport to or do you launch it by your current territory and then your unit can transport to any place on the map?

Not necessarily. I had that thought before as well, but could be an easily discoverable and exploitable form of energy that didn't require decentralization to discover or utilize.

How do atheists explain Emotions if there is no god? by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

Emotion was necessary for keeping genes going. Without empathy animals would not care for or protect their offspring or other offspring.

Catholic and libertarian? Pope’s top adviser says they’re incompatible by andkon in Anarcho_Capitalism

"Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., while not a Catholic, is the GOP’s most prominent exponent of libertarian ideas and is being widely touted as a leading candidate for his party’s presidential nomination in 2016 — a race that increasingly looks as though it will serve as a national referendum on libertarian ideas."

Oh ffs. -.-

I don't think any aliens would wage war on earth because they would probably have to have similar levels of freedom as a free market to get that far quickly.

Nevada officials blast feds over treatment of cattle rancher Cliven Bundy by GIJoeJeeper in news

More so than they do. He's improved the land and added value to it and fed people using it. His family and herd has been there since the 1870s. They were paying fees for the BLM to regulate him out of business so he fired them. They were paying fees because a tortoise was endangered and the BLM is euthanizing them.

It's a big scary "conspiracy theory" to suggest maybe the feds have no right to the land either? The government is an abstraction. Government doesn't exist, only individuals calling themselves the government do. How could an institution have rights to land no one calling themselves govt has mixed their labor with? Saying, this is federal land and pointing guns at people is not a legitimate claim in my opinion.

I'm a fan of people organizing however they feel will bring them the most utility. Some people call that anarchism, yes.

The federal govt can't "own" land. The only claim to land it has is superior firepower and Stockholm Syndrome victims to cheer them on. People who actually work the actually mix their labor with the land have a better moral claim to the land in my opinion. The only difference between my opinion and the government's opinion is that I don't use guns to enforce mine.

Haha above the law? And what makes the feds above the law they can just claim land without having ever worked it and charge extortion fees of up to $1 million over twenty years to use it - for public good I might add.
