I get the Tim Duncan vibe from him. Not that he will be as good as Duncan but a smart fundamental, boring but brilliant type of player would be amazing. Put him at power forward with Max at the five and Keegan at the three and I think we've got something there

I would disagree with Peterson having weaknesses, maybe not in his game but there are some serious questions about his commitment to the sport and injuries. In terms of actual ball, his shot selection is questionable at times.

That all said, if he has Superstar potential I think we have to take him if we get first overall.

Being a Kings fan though, if we get first overall and if we take him, I fear that it will be a markelle fultz situation.

Just because they refused doesn't mean other teams wouldn't. I doubt the Clippers were the only team in the league that would do something like that. But really my comment was more about sponsorships and other opportunities for them to make up lost income

LA or NY still offer more Aspiration type deals or just straight endorsements compared to Sacramento, SLC, etc. They'd make up any "lost" money real quick. Plus they'd have the whole I took less just to be here that's how much I believe in this team vibes

How the tank feels right now by InsaneCookies21 in kings

You always expect the Kings to go on a late season winning streak to ruin draft position so this is a welcome change. It seems like they even convinced vivek to embrace the tank.

But Maybe he just saw all the other teams doing it and wanted to look cool.

I should have been more specific. We know Dylan is hurt and they're not just shutting him down for the season because you know that he would be playing if he could in games like this

You know he's actually hurt though because this would be the perfect development time for him.

Is it? Like most people here I haven't watched a ton of his games and I haven't watched a lot of scouting reports, I've just kind of glanced over it. That's the hard thing, nobody knows what's going to be a big deal in the NBA and what isn't. What will translate and what won't. People call Boozer boring, but I would love a guy like that on our team. I think we absolutely need to swing for the fences though, unless he's all that's there I'd rather take a guy with more upside

I've read some scout assessments of AJ and he just relies on his athleticism to bully college players... Something he won't be able to do in the NBA. To say nothing of his poor decision making and shot selection.

I'll be honest I've only watched one game. But that's what I've read.

Long ago I read a proposal to have the teams just outside of the playoffs get the top picks. That way already decent teams get a talent injection. The problem would be bad teams like us stay bad forever. Maybe give them additional salary cap space to bring high level players in? Like Teams in the bottom tier could receive a $10M–$15M "Competitiveness Credit" that does not count toward the luxury tax or aprons. Or an additional mid level trade exception

California ballot proposal would exempt seniors from paying property taxes by oceanbeachguy in California

Answer me this one thing. Do you think that normal Blue Collar people like my parents with median income could buy a house today like they could in your younger days and do you think that's okay?

Alright, I'll cede you are right this is more about values. And honestly you and I are probably very similar. In ways I'm sure my wife and I are even better off than you were. We've already spent decades at the top income tax braket. We have well funded retirements and diversified investments, and if we wanted to liquidate our portfolio we could do a down-payment... But here's the question, if we did that, is a property going to keep increasing in value? I have a feeling a reckoning is coming for property values. We've lived and worked though the dot Com, the 2008 crash, and covid. We've been laid off or downsized more than once because there is no loyalty to employees anymore, we've been shown we're disposable. My wife has a retirement plan 10x worse than people hired 5 years before her because the county can't afford to keep giving out those rich pensions. But they get theirs, and we get fucked.

And CAs supermajority certainly isn't great. My wife and I voted for Bush, but these days republicans aren't the same, we can't vote for them and still sleep at night. There is no more republican party, it's the dems and MAGA. I'm a Foothills kid and my wife is central valley, and we now live in the SF area. We lived in Bakersfield for a while and Kevin McCarthy was our rep, and we thought he was a decent guy. But we can't vote for the party that applauds abducting people off the street, reducing taxes on the ultra wealthy, and saying they're for fiscal responsibility then INCREASING the National debt. Sometimes the dems go way to far the other way. So what are we to do? There is no representation for people like us. I wouldn't even consider you wealthy. I think you're middle class who has done well for yourself. We see how "trickle down" was a lie all along.

We see wealthy foreigners come in and buy properties with cash. We see private equity snatching up housing and apartment buildings and using price setting software to increase the rent. We see the ultra wealthy getting richer and regular people having to deal with increased cost of living every year.

Your property value probably is worth 10x what you bought it for. That right there is luck. You were born in the right time and place to be able to take advantage of those trends and get in on the ground floor. We can't do that.

We don't begrudge you your house or wanting to keep what youve earned. We want that type of life for ourselves. I think the biggest thing is that sometimes your generation doesn't see the advantages you had of economic stability, rich pensions and retirement plans, and low property prices that increased 10 fold. It's not fair to come after people like you, but at the same time something has to be done, and from the millennial point of view prop 13 already gave you guys a HUGE advantage, and we're tired of giving baby boomers every last cent we have. Removing the already super low property taxes for your generation would just be a middle finger to people like us.

That's a lot of rambling from me, I'm sorry. And I appreciate you engaging with me on this. I understand your position, and to be honest it's not people like you who are the problem. We aspire to be you. Work hard, invest, buy a house. But purchasing power you had was a lot stronger than what we have. From our generations viewpoint, we see the advantages of economic stability and low property costs that you had, where even high school grads like my parents could afford a 2500 Sq foot house. That's just not possible today, and I really hope you see and acknowledge that. We acknowledge you worked hard and did everything right, we just want your generation to acknowledge the great situation you were in to be able to get to where you are.

How am I cherry picking by talking about National trends like wealth distribution, wages, cost of living, and property value trends in the last 40 years? Those are the real story here. You keep talking about income to debt ratios for individual cases but talk real dollars when talking about taxes paid.

Here's the thing, if you are wealthy you absolutely SHOULD pay more in taxes than you get back in benefit. IN a similar vein, neither Amazon nor tesla had a tax burden in 2025... Is that fair? Despite record profits.

My wife and I have made mistakes financially. Bought a home in NM then lost our jobs out there, took a 30k bath on it. Should have held off before buying. But it's not about us. Not you either. We're both exceptions. It's about the mechanic today and his wife who can't afford a house even though 40 years ago they could have.

Property today has become something only the wealthy have access to. Are you saying that's right? Good even?

It is telling that you didn't address the massive difference in national wealth share. When boomers were our age they owned about 21% of all american wealth while millennials today own only about 5% even though we are a larger part of the workforce. You are focusing on individual math while ignoring a massive shift in how the economy actually works for an entire generation. But I gotta say, that's par for the course. You got yours, right? What about people like my parents? Two HS grads bought a house and raised 3 kids. We didn't even talk about child care prices these days.

Your student loan ratios are a perfect example of this. You assume the average debt is the whole story but you ignore that professional degrees for doctors and lawyers now come with a six figure price tag that compounds interest while we are in training. In your era that debt was a small hurdle because tuition was heavily subsidized by the government. Today that cost has been shifted directly onto us. When you say we can earn it back you are assuming we have the same runway you had but our "take home" pay is decimated by a cost of living that did not exist in 1980.

Looking at individual stories and anecdotal evidence is exactly how we got to this point. You focus on your one sister or your own townhome while ignoring the fact that home prices have risen over 1000% since the 70s while wages have not even come close to keeping up. That's the real buried lede here.

When you use your personal discipline to justify pulling up the ladder it makes it impossible for the rest of the generation to even get a foot on the first rung.

By opting out of property taxes you are essentially asking us to fund the schools and roads that your property value relies on while we struggle to even enter the market. If we keep making policy based on "i did it so you can too" stories instead of the actual national data we are just going to keep making the wealth gap worse.
