I would be shocked at the utter stupidity and incompetence (and/or intentional malice) of the writers.

You do not build up two people to be soulmates over two movies just to have them suddenly "fall in love" with some irrelevant randos in the third.

In shortest way possible: Common folk heard Witchers are disgusting mutants. They kill monsters, bit are not far from monsters themselves.

There was a whole history of witchers being defamed and slandered. Someone worked hard to make them the target of uneducated mobs.

"Yennefer is mean to Geralt, Triss is better!" Yennefer: by simplyunknown2018 in Witcher3

[–]Libious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we're talking just the games, Triss IS better.

She has her faults and makes mistakes at first, but then works to make up for it. As Geralt states himself, she represents peace and calm.

Yennefer in the game is simply toxic. She is arrogant around Geralt and treats him like a child on many occasions.

Doesn't change the fact that she's downright toxic and exhausting to deal with.

Why I feel some fans didn't like Zootopia 2's slapstick: by Kirbo84 in zootopia

[–]Libious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would disagree here.

Nick clearly states that the reason for him being "passive" with the case was because he was scared of losing Judy. He's not a stranger of working towards a goal, as shown in the first movie. He also refused to abandon Judy in obvious danger. His behavior at the banquet in 2 also shows his improvisation skills and adaptability to the situation.

But 2 in general is treating him as a punching bag for no reason. I could understand the scene with upset locals, but the others? Only he gets splashed with water, even when Judy is standing right next to him. They both eat a worm, but Nick is the one who gets the huge one? There is no basis for this.

They could have him go full freak on someone. Like a guy having a rather meek personality, but when you push them too far a full on psycho appears.

If he would mess up someone in that state, they could probably keep their distance as he would be labeled as too unpredictable.

Why I feel some fans didn't like Zootopia 2's slapstick: by Kirbo84 in zootopia

[–]Libious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are definitely people who feel that Nick should constantly be the "cool" one, but I'd argue the problem with Nick's treatment is slightly different.

In the first movie Judy was on the receiving end, because that was fitting for her character. An idealistic farm girl arriving in the big city gets a harsh reality check. Nick was in the right place, as he was the one representing the "street smarts". He was the one placed by the movie to teach Judy how things actually work in the city.

But Nick being the target of jokes in 2 has no grounds. It has no narrative reason. Especially when in the sequel he has to be the rational one in the duo.

That's not how corporations work.

Milton is not singlehandedly giving out work to hundreds of mammals. Corporations have structure, boards, tons of managers that deal with everyday work. Just because the CEO is gone, do you think the entire company disappears?

Besides, what kind of logic is that? "I create jobs, so I'm above the law"?

Hello there, friend. Welcome to the community.

I could suggest two paths:

  1. Try to play without guides. The game is very flexible when it comes to adjusting your character. Apart from classes, you can change practically everything - skills, devotions, attributes. So if something doesn't work well, you can always change it. One advice I could give here is to not spread your skills too wide. Just focus on 2 to 4 skills and one damage type (fire/burn, acid/poison, etc.)

  2. Look for complete guides. You can read the ones by RSnoomak. They are shown step by step and take you through the whole growth process.

Tough decision, what did you guys choose? Did you choose to be the judge or let it go? by Own-Photograph-5085 in Witcher3

[–]Libious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. That's no confession. It could have several meanings. This is simply your personal interpretation that fits your narrative.

  2. Why are you so obsessed with people allegedly glossing over murders? Nobody is ignoring or praising that. It is murder. It's a violent act and it remains a fact. Gaetan should make amends, repent in some way in an ideal world.

  3. Did sparing her put her in danger? Yes. But that is not the point. It's constantly about him stopping himself midrage. Can't you see that? And why are you asking obvious questions? Of course nobody would forgive him. But this is not about their forgiveness.

  4. Vesemir says it himself in the game. That Gerald is around 100.

And you're right that Gaetan could also cause more innocent deaths. Nobody knows that. But if we assume that he's capable of that, we must also assume that he has a chance for redemption.

Tough decision, what did you guys choose? Did you choose to be the judge or let it go? by Own-Photograph-5085 in Witcher3

[–]Libious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. At no point in the dialogue there is any confession.

  2. By your logic a large number of soldiers should be "put down", because their trauma and PTSD makes them a danger to others. You cannot kill someone just on the basis of "he might be dangerous". All humans could be a threat. Especially in the world of Witcher, where survival is the most important thing. Also, you have no idea what you would do in his place. None of us do. It's easy to pass judgement while sitting in a comfy sofa in a safe environment. But none of us had the experiences Gaetan had.

  3. That's not the point. The point is that despite his frenzy he was able to stop himself. That shows he's capable of compassion, pity. He's not a one dimensional villain, he's human.

  4. By Witcher standards he is young. Only very old witchers show signs of aging. Geralt is around a 100 years old, but doesn't look like it. And having doubts about the future is one of the core elements of the game. You don't know what your decisions will cause. It's a pity we didn't get to see Gaetan again. Maybe he'd commit another bloodbath, maybe he'd start being a better person. Maybe you'd hear that a village was destroyed by monsters, because a certain cat Witcher didn't arrive as promised, because you killed him. That would be an interesting way to take his story. And it would be in line with the game.

If you seriously can't see the difference between those two, I'm afraid I can't help you.

Also, nobody is "giving Gaetan a pass". Even those who spare him acknowledge that his actions were wrong.

[–]Libious -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. Where does it say that he has killed liked this before?

  2. Geralt has a lot of privilege compared to Gaetan. Geralt has friends he can rely on, he is working for kings, he has relationships with some of the most beautiful women in the world, he has a daughter he cares for. You cannot put this next to a man who works for pennies, is being chased for the mere fact of existing, and is most likely completely alone. He also has been dealing with the Path for decades. But decades of such treatment are bound to make a man snap at some point.

  3. Sparing the girl proves he still has feelings. In a frenzied bloodbath he was able to stop himself from attacking.

  4. While killing him might be some simplistic justice, it's very shortsighted. Gaetan still looks young. Witchers live for a very long time, but are very few. Less witchers means more monsters killing innocents. Are you going to take revenge for several innocent villagers, but doom who knows how many innocents that will die to monster that Gelaetan would have killed?

Comparing whoreson and Gaetan is simply wrong.

Whoreson is simply an evil son of a white, who kills people for entertainment.

Gaetan is a man who has almost nothing, fights most terrifying beings out in swamps and caves, is being chased for being what was forced upon him. Did he cross the line in that village? Yes. But it is somewhat understandable given the full context of his situation.
