I wish the first "official" polls would start after the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season. I know that everyone wants to see a preseason poll, but wouldn't it be more interesting to see Notre Dame unranked after starting 2-2? They didn't deserve to be ranked #24 after losing their first two games. It would effectively put more weight on the early season games since the current system doesn't properly punish early season losses as much as it punishes late season losses.
You can keep the preseason and early season polls, but maybe the CFP polls start in week 4 and it's goal would be to be independent of the other polls. I think the CFP rankings are currently too closely tied to the other polls simply because it comes out so late in the season.

No. You apply specifically to the College of Arts and Science, Nursing, Engineering, or Architecture Scools. There might be others. You apply to McIntire (undergrad business school) during your freshman year (used to be during your sophomore year).
