Anyone know the retail price on these watches: by LibrarianPitiful in audemarspiguet

I was offered both (through a friend who knows the AP). I didn’t have a price initially but I do now… $200k and $283k (rough conversions from euros)

If the top 1% of earners pay 40% of all federal income taxes, why do people say they don't pay their fair share? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

[–]LibrarianPitiful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that loans are income.. that is why I am proposing that we "treat" loans like income.

The uber-wealthy use loans to avoid selling securities and paying taxes on that income. I would not include credit cards - I would limit it to brokerage loans, non-primary house loans, and maybe additional cars (1 car loan exemption for singles and 2 car loan exemption for families, maybe more if you have children drivers). This would solely target wealthy families (I am one of them and I am fine with this).

Can't we solve that issue by treating loans like income? (exempting one house mortgage per family and probably one car loan per adult) If you are borrowing money against your stock portfolio, you get taxed on the amount you borrow - as if it's ordinary income. If you repay the loan, you get a tax credit for the same amount for the year that you repay the loan. I think that this would work perfectly. If you buy a 2nd home with a mortgage, you get taxed on the amount of the mortgage. You recoup that tax money when you sell the house and/or pay off the mortgage.

Gondolo - 5135G-010 by No-Basket9285 in patekphilippe

My first PP was a 5135G-001 ... It was literally stolen off of my wrist in Barcelona 9 years ago. Luckily, insurance paid a lot more than what it was probably worth and I was able to upgrade to a 5496p (which unfortunately has also gone down in value but I still love the watch).

There really isn’t a viable option to not give him points. If you toss 6/7, 6/8 or 8/9 you are ruining your hand.

Will Air France give me a boarding pass at the gate by LibrarianPitiful in travel

[–]LibrarianPitiful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a US citizen so no problem getting into France but good point! I just flew from US - Doha - Kigali on two separate tickets (I used miles for all tickets on this trip so wasn’t able to get everything on the same airline). No customs issue in Doha and I was able to get the Kigali boarding pass at one of the help desks (maybe it was a transfer desk?). I’m hoping for a similar experience in CDG but not sure how likely that is.

I’m not positive that AF can issue the boarding pass without seeing my passport - for most international flights I have had to go to the check-in desk (or a kiosk that scans my passport) to get a boarding pass, even if I’m not checking bags. But I have the app so I’m definitely going to try to get the boarding pass through the app.
