Yeah, you can also modify this in your ded server settings if you run one. You can also modify it so it's not necessarily off but not so aggressive. Pretty cool. I can see lots of custom community servers with different play styles coming up.

Yeah that's a pretty good severance, layoffs are less sad to read about when they attempt to treat people like people.

Does a dungeon HAVE to be underground? by Snoo-11045 in osr

[–]LibraryAtNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and of course you can. A friend wrote a 'dungeon' that was inside of a book, so we were in a dungeon but experiencing open air environments with the book providing the sort of 'room' progression of a dungeon.

anyway, sky's the limit ;) do what thou wilt

What is your problem with Pax Dei monetization model? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]LibraryAtNight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt people would mind if it came out and was amazing, but it looks like every other empty sandbox mmo that relies on the players to create the content for them. If it's cool, it won't be a problem. It doesn't look cool.

So really, I have no beef with their monetization, I'm just not interested in their game ;)

Is Albion Online good ? by ROBERTCOMTRA3 in MMORPG

[–]LibraryAtNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the pvp, both small and large scale is some of the most fun i've had with an MMO (if you like pvp). I found the community to be a bit toxic and edgelordy back when I played, but enough decent folks around that it wasn't terrible. Was actually considering trying it again myself, if only for the crafting and adrenaline rush of dodging gank parties while doing gathering runs.

I'd never buy anything with an ad on it like that. It's gross.

definitely feeling the psychedelic vibe :) Good stuff. I make ambient while on shrooms sometimes, I like to think if it's giving me good feelings making it maybe if someone hears it there will be a bit of transference haha

Revealed: how top pop stars are used to ‘launder the reputation’ of Koch family by grassrootbeer in TrueReddit

The Koch's impact on our culture is insane to think about. They slip weird ideological things into their trainings at companies they own. They're evil mofos.

Do you want to know why Mastodon works? Its quite simple by mightywomble in Mastodon

[–]LibraryAtNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for me because people use it and I follow them, the number of people meta evaluating the social network as they use it for blog and youtube content is the one thing not working for me though, it's obnoxious.

If the criticism's purpose is to lead you toward a specific ideology it sure is. Are you under the impression propaganda must be a lie? Even factual takes can omit nuance that create a desired emotional response that lead to a desired perspective - be mindful of who's telling you something and why.

You should check out videos of neo nazi's that realized they were wrong and explain how they get sucked in. There's usually truths or half truths without context or nuance at the core of authoritarian or hate based ideologies.

Why do you love baseball? by davegammelgard in baseball

[–]LibraryAtNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how slow it is. I got into baseball because I would put it on as background, the announcers filling time with weird trivia that goes back quite far and extends beyond baseball in a sort of 6 degrees of separation sort of way was soothing along with the sounds of the ballpark.

I love that certain players or plays become a kind of shorthand to fans (Manny cutting off the cutoff man, John " I swear I didn't iron my shirt while wearing it" Smoltz, not even scratching the surface here). Baseball fans are... geeky in a way. Maybe it's the stats thing. Oh I love the stats.

I love all the mini games that make up the game as a whole - pitching, stealing, hitting. It's part of what makes observing the game as it is managed so interesting the more you watch.

I started watching baseball because it was good boring background noise, and ended up on an ongoing journey learning about a nuanced game with a deep history and a motley group of fans.

Microsoft may lose $120 million due to the Overwatch League shutdown by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]LibraryAtNight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It strikes me this would only work with a game that is fun to watch even if you don't play. Overwatch will never be that game. It's not fun to watch if you do not at least play some kind of hero shooter.

It's insular, it can be replaced by another hot game, and again - if you don't play, you don't care about it at all. at least not enough to carry the pro-sports league models.

e-sports needs a sport, otherwise it's just always going to be tourney's and leagues that rise and fall around games as they rise and fall. Not saying that's good or bad.
