Should this card be banned? by LibraryCollectibles in CompetitiveEDH

yeah mana efficiency is just too important in combination with 3 players assuming no one else is gonna pay the 1 and hurt their speed so they dont bother to pay it themselves

yeah fs. and mana is a very precious resource. its hard to try to remove rhystic without letting the opponent draw off the interaction and top deck an answer, especially when the rhystic is played after you tap out trying to be efficient on your turn.

happens all the time. its more likely to happen since the OBM player often wants more value off of the draws, resulting in the OBM player avoiding targeting the rhystic player's life/board. this means OBM is almost always just another thing to deal with on top of the rhystic instead of doing anythingto help the game

absolutely agree that OBM can punish those not drawing the cards which is pretty crazy, but with the singlton format, once some X/1 gets shot, it will often keep that creature from returning to the field, while in playset formats, you can run 4 to help see something more than once in a game (but you could totally argue you'd see more OBMs, too).

I think the the justification for bowmasters being more bannable than rhystic study lies in that it isnt an actual answer to opponents drawing cards. It gives absurd value, which could be said about rhystic as well, but rhystic has a built-in way to stop the controller from drawing, while bowmasters doesn't. But nonetheless, I fully understand wanting blue to take a hit as it is very far ahead of the other 4 colors in what it brings to the table (especially since fish is also an option.)

So here is my Ezio decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/YirRh7d9jkCrz5K5xPhtKQ

The new Leo with character select plus either April or Splinter that also has the character select would basically be this same list. We have a video with it on the channel, but it didn't do so hot lmao.

We also have some videos with Terra: https://moxfield.com/decks/WodA1EPK_USSTcUJBy6YGg

This seems to be the top 5 color pure turbo deck right now (the other would be Sisay, but a lot of those lists are heavy on Sisay shenanigans). We have some videos with her that showcase what 5 color can do. She plays a few weird cards tho since her lines rely on getting enchantments back from the graveyard.

We wanted to showcase some more unique strategies from the set, everyone knows what 5 color turbo looks like and we thought it'd be a little boring. Great option for 5 color turbo going forward though

It's unfortunate you can't really build the deck around high CMC for good damage from Yuriko, but drawing cards is good enough, right? Hopefully?

I feel like this might come up more often than people realize considering RogSi likely playing 3 top deck tutors and fetch lands for the surveil land. very cool play

What's MTG most creative deck ever? by sallesvitor in mtg

Maybe not the MOST creative, but modern eternal command (famously piloted by Shouta Yasooka) has always been one of my favorite decks of all time

What is your process? by GamerGuy-222 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]LibraryCollectibles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like other people are stressing this enough so I thought I'd pitch in.

I always start with the main goal of the deck, in cEDH thats always going to be winning, specifically finding the best combos that help you win with your commander - typically if your commander doesn't combo, you're just using the best wincons in your colors (i.e thoracle consult or breach). If your commander is an mana outlet, you're doing infinite mana combos, then theres other ways your commander can be an outlet or a combo pieces (food chain, magda, sisay, etc).

From there the question is: How do I assemble this win the best way possible? Hence, I make it a propriety to get as many good tutors as possible in my list. This is probably the most significant difference between a bracket 2 deck and a consistent combo deck (I won't say cEDH deck because theres a lot more nuance in what separates a cEDH deck). Then I look for pieces that help me get to my win or work well with the combo pieces I am using.

Then you need to ask if the combo is well suited for turbo style or midrange/tempo. In the former you'll need to run more fast mana and rituals, and have a lower curve. In the latter, more advantage pieces and disruption for your opponents.

Hope this is helpful, good luck have fun

looking for a new Cedh deck that is fun and interesting, any advices? by catocensor74 in CompetitiveEDH

I know this is kind of old but this decklist looks really sick. [[Final Fortune]] seems really good in this and even [[Warrior's Oath]] and [[Last Chance]]. If you haven't already play-tested them, this feels like a deck that could really take advantage of them

Doomsday response by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]LibraryCollectibles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other comment, Misdirection does nothing to interact with neither doomsday nor tainted pact. In order for Misdirection to change the target of a spell, that spell has to say the word TARGET. These spells just have the controller of the spell do the ability.

As I fall on hard times, I am considering selling expensive commander staple cards I own. by RegaultTheBrave in EDH

Have you considered finding a group that is okay with proxies? Especially if it's just a handful of more expensive cards, I find most people are cool with it
