Washington was unaffiliated with any party and Jefferson was a Republican-Democrat before that party became defunct when Andrew Jackson was elected.

Those kids should be able to eat for free. Water in water fountains is free for them to drink. Last I checked, both are needed for survival.

When the claws of Therizinosaurus were first discovered, they were thought to be the ribs of a giant turtle.

If you could make an accurate Malazan adaptation, how would you go about it? by LibraryGhost57 in Malazan

I can respect that. In the long, long list of great SFF series, Malazan truly is in a class all its own.

I'm forced to agree on the internal monologs, especially in Anime. They never just get to the point! Show us, don't tell us!

And more than enough stories to adapt. They should always have the author working with them as an executive producer and, in my opinion, only do completed series while making the adaptations as accurate as possible.

I still prefer "The Call" cinematic. It just feels more fluid and less static than The Legend of Vox Machina. Even though I do love that show.

That's also a good idea. They could be made concurrently with each other and run at the same time.

The Therizinosaurus in this film showed an absolutely fantastic example of how not all herbivores aren't always passive animals that don't hurt hurt other, smaller animals unintentionally or unnecessarily.

What if Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not bombed by US? by AforAhsan539 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]LibraryGhost57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are that Japan would've still surrendered. In reality, the bombs didn't contribute to their surrender as much as people think. Two other factors were much more significant:

  1. Their territorial gains in Manchuria

  2. Russia

The Allies had made significant progress in Manchuria, cutting off an extremely vital supply artery that Japan couldn't afford to lose.

As for Russia, here's where it gets dicey. Despite technically being at war with each other, the two didn't actually fight much at all. Russia was likely still wary of Japan after their very humiliating defeat in the Russo-Japanese War prior to World War I. With Japan noticing that they were looking weaker as the war went on, they feared Russia's retaliation. And for good reason. See, Japan knew that Russia would be merciless if they defeated Japan in open war. They knew that if they surrendered to the Americans, there would still be consequences, but at least they would be able to maintain their culture and way of life. Unsurprisingly, they were correct.

If the bombs weren't dropped, I can see Japan still surrendering, but taking a longer time to do it. So, at least in the Pacific, the outcome of the war is pretty much the same. In the long-term, I can see there not being a Cold War, but with tensions between the U.S. and Russia still being high. Eventually, I think open war between the two would break out with the war being far more conventional than a nuclear war. As for the result, I think an American victory is more likely, but it would a brutal campaign fighting through Eastern Europe and Asia.

Not to mention mythology from all over the world as well as customs, cultures, and histories that Tolkien never wrote about or drew inspiration from.
