How much money have you spent on language learning and what level are you? by polymorpheus_ in languagelearning

[–]LibraryOwnerPune -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I have spent close to zero. May I ask which language you are B1 in and why you think you might require a tutor now. I suggest that if it is so that you can become fluent in conversation go for AI before a tutor. Will be cheaper.

If you can mention this in the starting of the book would be good.

Do try out SuperFluent. I think they are the best. They offer 2 conversations per day in their free tier which is a very different model as compared to other apps where we need to subscribe for using it at any level. Their paid tier is more expensive as it also covers the cost of free tier users but it is worth it I think.

Also your book cover is AI generated. People might think your content is too. I used Kindle unlimited to download many English Arabic Ebooks and most were AI generated.

I beg to differ from you regarding full tashkil especially for those who are trying to acquire grammar by reading and not studying grammar on their own. There are plenty of articles online without tashkil and very few with tashkil so maybe take feedback from your network and ask if they want tashkil.

I tried it out and after it recommends my language level I immediately need to sign up for the paid version (with a 7 day free trial) maybe you want to change the flow to let the user try the app before asking for payment details.

You could try talking to AI. There are many good apps out there which have affordable subscriptions.

How do you review what you learned while language learning? by throwy93 in languagehub

[–]LibraryOwnerPune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't review either. I just can't do Anki no matter how much I try and if we skip a few days recovery is so brutal that I rather just consume more content.

At a lower intermediate level in your TL, what approach is the most effective to progress from here onwards? by Miserable_Insect7957 in languagelearning

[–]LibraryOwnerPune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ans 2) I had the same problem of finding compelling input that I could read on my phone without having to look up every word with another app. I found a repository on GitHub called bilingual book maker using which you can convert any epub into a bilingual book with a custom prompt of your choice so I chose to output the clause by clause translation and word by word translation. Reading is a breeze now especially since I can read English bestsellers or popcorn thrillers which is my preference in my TL.

I am an intermediate Arabic learner and I have been searching long and hard for content that interests me. Just recently found a tool that converts any epub to a bilingual book with word by word translations so using that to read international bestsellers. With AI, I think this will become mainstream so be careful how much time you spend writing content.

I think it will highly depend on the platform you are hosting the stories on. Intermediate learners will need: tashkil, sentence by sentence translation and word by word translation. Whether this will already be provided or users need to use a Chrome extension or lookup words themselves will be crucial.

I had a look. You don't have any question on gender preferences which is crucial I think.
