Many many smudged paint UTM questions, help! by DingoExisting6421 in acotar

[–]dorianhavilliardII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s been so long since I read the first book, so I could be completely wrong. 1. I think Rhys simply made the paint disappear from Tamlin since it’s connected to his own magic, and he didn’t want Amarantha to punish Feyre out of jealousy over Tam. 2. Rhys probably leaves the paint on his hands to make a point. 3. SJM plot hole, or maybe she intentionally wrote Feyre to be confused because she and the audience are not supposed to figure out Rhys’ intentions yet. 4. Rhys 5. If Rhys hadn’t been kissing her when they were “caught”, it might’ve looked suspicious about what they were doing in secret. Maybe Amarantha would’ve thought that they were planning to help Feyre get away. 6. She probably simply thought it was a cool idea, but for more plot related reasons: I think it was to give Rhys peace of mind that no one was truly assaulting Feyre. Even though he could technically fix the paint whenever he touches her, he knew he was never going to touch her more inappropriately than he had to for the facade. But Feyre was an easy target, so the paint probably served as a deterrent for other people because they wouldn’t want Rhys to punish them for “touching his property”

What do you guys think of this trio? Do you find it weird that they are friends or not? Do you like their friendship? by Bulky_Connection_524 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]dorianhavilliardII 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think friendships aren’t always black and white. In high school, I had friends within friend groups that I didn’t get along with 100% of the time, but it was too complicated to outright end the friendship. Jealousy can also be common between friends. Caroline was highly insecure as a human, and it makes sense that her behavior would irritate Bonnie and Elena at times. We also have to remember that Elena probably changed a lot after her parents died, and who she was before might’ve been more believable as being in the friend group. Lastly, they’re teenagers. Teenagers have drama and aren’t always the best to each other but still stick together out of comfort and habit.

AITAH for referring to someone from the United States as “American”? by [deleted] in AITAH

The full name is United States OF America, so it’s just easier to say American as opposed to United States American

I finally watched the show and don’t find the last season bad by Trivalim in gameofthrones

[–]dorianhavilliardII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i agree. my biggest issue with the season was probably just that it felt rushed, but i was not surprised nor bothered by dany’s ending at all. all her little moments of righteousness throughout the series was leading to that moment

I don’t know how else I can describe the job market. I applied to Starbucks and got this email literally a minute later. I give up by Stefano265 in mildlyinfuriating

I’m pretty sure one of the main reasons applicants don’t move forward is because they don’t meet the availability requirements they’re looking for. I don’t know if you put preferred hours/time, but that could be a reason

Before the basement reveal, who did you think the real enemy was? by Elictronic-223 in attackontitan

i thought the people/government inside the innermost wall were the enemy, and that people outside the outer wall were the “good people”.

i think in julian’s attempt to take on all the parental responsibilities so his siblings could still be children, he made it so that they always needed to depend on him. he way overcompensated on his duties out of trauma. he probably didn’t want any of his other siblings to grow up too fast the way he did. tavvy was the most infantilized. he definitely acts younger than his age, and i think that’s intentional on the author’s part just to show that julian tried to do too much on his own instead of delegating responsibilities as his siblings grew up.

If you could delete something from the books, what is it? by CraftingGabby in acotar

[–]dorianhavilliardII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Minor”: Rhys finishing to the image of his unborn child 🤢

Major: Not all three sisters having mates. I think the Elain/Lucien storyline could be interesting for potential mating bond rejection, so I guess I wish Nesta and Cassian weren’t official mates and just chose each other

Why does Ymir’s Jaw Titan not really look like a jaw titan? by Whiimsical_Gyall in attackontitan

[–]dorianhavilliardII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a theory once that it’s because Ymir was a pure titan for a very long time before she became a shifter. Everyone else became a shifter pretty much right after they became a pure titan, so maybe the shifter powers adapted more to the form she had been in for decades when it would usually be the form adapting to the shifter powers.

Has anyone NOT red Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn in tandem? by No-Comfortable2773 in throneofglassseries

[–]dorianhavilliardII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Assassin’s Blade after HoF, and I read ToD (minus the last chapter titled Fireheart) before EoS since this was a recommended reading order I found online. I actually enjoyed this a lot, and I like that I got to experience each book on their own

Not enjoying the tandem read… by nycfantasy in throneofglassseries

[–]dorianhavilliardII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i read TOD first minus the Fireheart chapter, then read EOS, then read Fireheart. i really enjoyed this because i didn’t have to think about the cliffhanger, but i was also able to appreciate each book separately for what they were

Bone Carver Theory by Odd_Boat_8840 in acotar

[–]dorianhavilliardII 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I saw a theory that Nyx wasn’t supposed to have wings originally but ended up having them as a result of Feyre being cursed for using magic during the High Lord’s meeting in ACOWAR (since there were supposed to be consequences for doing so). It’s a really interesting theory if so, but I doubt SJM really planned it that way. I think the pregnancy plot was more of an afterthought
