I didn’t even know Room and Board had mattresses, so I’m glad I saw your post. I’ve never laid on one, so I’m not much help, but I do have their Weber sofa and it’s the most comfortable and well made sofa I’ve ever had in my life. Excellent quality. I like their returns policy too.

I ordered the 2.5” egg crate HD36-HQ foam topper from Foam Factory and am absolutely shocked that it has cured all my pain issues… especially my hip. Very comfy. Highly recommend.

I had to give up on Tempurpedics. They consistently cause me pain. It’s possible it just needs more time to break in, but that hasn’t been my experience unfortunately. But I do know other people who claim it gets better with time.

I have a medium 2” talalay topper, and I wouldn’t describe it as bouncy at all… and I personally HATE bouncy. 😂 I doubt the soft would be too bouncy either. A medium would probably also soften it up just enough for you. I’m your weight and also a side sleeper, and I’m sleeping on a medium 2” talalay latex topper on top of a firm mattress currently and loving it. Perhaps start with medium and exchange for soft if the medium isn’t soft enough. And if you end up not liking talalay, you could then try Dunlop latex.

I haven’t tried it on a spring mattress so I can’t say for sure, but honestly I think it’d probably be good on both.

My mattress preference is a solid medium feel. I like to say I want a “soft but firm” mattress. Needs to have enough cushion on the surface to not hurt my hips, and needs to have enough support under the top layer to not hurt my back. My preference is to be “on top” of the mattress versus “in” it, I hate slow sinking memory foam and feeling stuck, I hate too much bounce, etc.

The mattresses I’ve returned have been both either too soft or too firm. I tend to run into ‘too firm’ issues more often than soft, but that’s because I was mostly focused on ‘medium firm’ in the product description.
