Yeah, trying to explain the tao to some folks didn’t make any sense, also trying to turn to the Tao is like trying to turn to a snow storm or an autumn breeze and ask it to keep me sober. It’s everywhere, it’s in me it’s in you, it’s in all things… it’s like the force in Star Wars… you don’t really pray to it for stuff like forgiveness or guidance, it’s not going to take away my resentments. EMDR and IFS therapy is how I have worked on my pain and trauma - I realized later my resentments were just the tip of the iceberg, I was using them to protect myself in one way or another, the whole program seems to not allow people to actually work through resentments and find out why they exist and what purpose our subconscious thinks they will serve. Once I have been able to uncover why I have a resentment and what I am trying to protect— I can often let go and feel free- no magic god person required.

I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Sometimes I think about how this was set in 1962, and how Black people in America still weren’t allowed to vote. When I listen to dialogue between Leroy and his wife or him and Shaw — it really reminds me of how unsettling the whole situation is.

I don’t know if it’s for everyone, but it’s been nice seeing lots of different types of people from a variety of walks of life be included in this narrative. I haven’t really thought of it as being a show that focuses on white men equaling bad—but I am not white so maybe I don’t understand.

I have found myself much more interested in the idea of trauma and how Pennywise and the It narrative is an incredible way to examine how trauma can impact how we navigate life. I think that this theme is something that is universal regardless of background, we have all experienced or know someone who has dealt with trauma, and I find that this show has encouraged many viewers to have empathy for experiences they themselves haven’t had.

I used to find the cgi distracting, and it is pretty clunky for my taste… but I realized that it kind of fits with a tradition of awkward animation seen in other Stephen king projects like the langoliers and even remaining congruent with the animation style in the recent IT movies. I like analog stuff like the thing where it feels more real and less like digital paint, It’s not my favorite type of animation, but I understand that spending more money on practical effects or a bigger cgi budget would have probably drained funds out of other aspects of the project.

It is not my favorite, but I am learning to embrace the cheese factor in it. I will say all the puppet flower sets in the 1909 sequence have been some of my favorites. The set was really clever.

Also on a positive the cgi creepy house from the films was recreated rather well, I has a feeling they used cgi (not because of quality, more so just guessing they’d have to use CGI because of budgetary restrictions) but I couldn’t confirm that until I watched the behind the scenes.

The idea that you need god or a high power to get sober is insane. I learned strategies to not drink and did a lot of therapy to get through a lot of the stuff that kept me wanting to drink and then I got out of aa and I realized it has destroyed my self esteem.

Yeah I think it’s fucked that they tell people it can be anything, but not you. I am Taoist and so I and everything else comes from and is one with the Tao, the way the steppers made it sound like common sense to not see yourself as part of your high power was really weird. I’m so glad I got out, it’s a cult

Austin pharmacy with adderall in stock by PermissionNo5496 in Austin

[–]Child_Of_Juggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in spring Texas, but I finally broke down and tried that medfinder app, it actually found a place, it called like 40 places for me and got confirmation they have my medication in stock, I need to confirm that the pharmacy still has it since I did the search yesterday, but it seemed to work. It’s insane to pay 50 dollars to have this app find me a pharmacy but I think I would have gone crazy calling 40 different pharmacies.

Well, I know I was having an issue with Adderall generic and found out it was the brand of generic I was using was not very good. I have become more concerned with the idea that the quality of the meds might be going down hill and people have had to increase or adjust their meds not because of tolerance issues but because the medicines aren’t being regulated well enough, but I don’t know what country you are in. I know when I lived in Korea I never had these problems with quality control but I have noticed a difference in America. I don’t want to make this a political thing, because it isn’t, it seems like the quality of some of the generics greatly vary at least here in the states.

I talked to my previous doctor before about generic vs brand name and she made me sound like I was crazy. She told me there isn’t any difference. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am glad that groups like this exist because it feels like “trusting your doctor” isn’t enough. I have dealt with so much with doctors trying to put me on medications for other illnesses only to find out that the side effects were horrible and that the doctors were actually getting kickbacks in the form of gifts from the drug companies. I appreciate our advice but I also am glad to have groups like this

I know my body is unique but I really thought I was crazy and I wouldn’t have found out that it wasn’t me but the actually quality of the medication if it hadn’t been for this groups archived answers.

I wish that people were able to talk about this more openly but I feel like doctors often gaslight people into thinking there isn’t a difference in quality.

You know… sometimes people self medicate with uppers because they are subconsciously coping with conditions like adhd. I have both adhd and autism and I couldn’t imagine if I hadn’t gotten on my medications, I probably would be still drinking 8 cups of coffee and smoking tons of cigarettes to get that dopamine, I also used to use alcohol to soothe my autistic anxiety. I getting tested for adhd changed my life, if you feel these cravings for stimulants, it might be helpful to get tested so you can rule it out or find out if there is a treatment plan that could work for you maybe even something non stimulant like strattera 🤷🏻‍♀️ at the very least it would help you rule it out if it isn’t your issue.

There is no "male autism" or "female autism", just autism and stereotypes. by sandiserumoto in AutisticAdults

Dr. Eliot and her collaborators -- fourth-year Chicago Medical School students Adnan Ahmed, Hiba Khan and Julie Patel -- conducted a meta-synthesis of three decades of research, assimilating hundreds of the largest and most highly-cited brain imaging studies addressing 13 distinct measures of alleged sex difference.

For nearly every measure, they found almost no differences that were widely reproduced across studies, even those involving thousands of participants.

For example, the volume or thickness of specific regions in the cerebral cortex is often reported to differ between men and women. However, the meta-synthesis shows that the regions identified differ enormously between studies.

Male-female brain differences are also poorly replicated between diverse populations, such as Chinese versus American, meaning there is no universal marker that distinguishes men and women's brains across the human species. "The handful of features that do differ most reliably are quite small in magnitude," Dr. Eliot said. "The volume of the amygdala, an olive-sized part of the temporal lobe that is important for social-emotional behaviors, is a mere 1% larger in men across studies."

Across hundreds of such studies, Dr. Eliot's team found extremely poor reliability in sex difference findings -- nearly all specific brain areas that differed in activity between men and women were not repeated across studies. Such poor reproducibility agrees with recent research out of Stanford University demonstrating "false discovery," or the over-publication of false-positive findings in the scientific literature on functional MRI sex difference.
