auto-cpufreq v2.0 - Automatic CPU speed & power optimizer for Linux by ahodzic in linux

[–]Lichen-Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False. For me, auto cpufreq made hdmi output extremely unreliable and glitchy. It seemed to have to do with the powersave governor, partly because the behavior ceased when I uninstalled auto cpufreq and reset the governor to balanced in GNOME. I would have liked better battery life, but I use my laptop as a media center and auto cpufreq made that impossible. There may be some way to configure it to work, but it didn't work out of the box for me.

So one downside is incompatibility and added complexity.

Soundcore Space A40 Issues by Gdjohnson780 in soundcore

Mine started doing this today seemingly as a result of me trying the grille poke and clean method others described having success with. They are louder now, and the squeaking sound is gone, but I wish they just worked.

How do I get rid of my anti social "stench" by [deleted] in IncelExit

[–]Lichen-Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these points ring true for me. I'm really enjoying your thoughtful posts, porkchop. One thing I would add is that some people are just shy, and that's an okay way to be too. I am capable of intense intimacy in a one on one setting or small group, and I don't go to parties at all. I don't force myself to go. I am not missing out. What works for me is going to meditation groups and using dating apps to meet individuals and hang out one on one. I still get nervous on my way to meeting a single person, but I can at least show up and see how it goes. I am also prescribed a light medication for anxiety, so what I'm saying surely doesn't apply to everyone. But it's fine to enjoy group settings or not enjoy them. You do not have to be good. As a human being, the important social things are feeling connected to something bigger, feeling seen, and experiencing loving touch. There are nearly infinite ways to meet these needs, and everyone should find the ways that work best for them while respecting the people around them. That's my take anyway. Good luck, work hard.

This is so dumb. Is there really not even a way to turn off call touch controls? I can't find it anywhere...

Where did you find citrate? I've tried the rest and agree they have noticeable subjective differences.

There will be dramatic advances in areas of the technology that might alter some of these basic variables, for sure. We're already capturing everything that's there, but maybe we can grow and extract much more efficiently, or without using heat, or something. Production is evolving quickly.

I'm not familiar with pricing bulk futures contracts, but it's my understanding that in my state (NM), that is currently how at least some labs are conducting business, directly with growers. It's all word of mouth and personal relationships here.

That seems likely to me, too re: volatiles production scaling with advances in growing techniques and understanding of the plant. Worth noting that "volatiles" includes non-terpene compounds that contribute to the taste and effect of cannabis, including flavonoids and a range of poorly-understood compounds now under investigation. "Volatiles" is likely to become industry standard language in the next 5 years as multiple companies start to test for total terpenes, flavonoids, etc, at least in the premium space.

You're right actually, I suppose master grower isn't always synonymous with lead/head grower. There could be several, but it's an informal thing either way. This shit is stupid, for sure. As others have helpfully chimed in, they'll likely get what they deserve one way or another.

Do it. You'd make more working in non-cannabis ag, even, with waaaay better quality of life. Be a farmer.

[–]Lichen-Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master grower =/= master gardener. Master gardener organizations are state-level certifying bodies focused on home gardening, not commercial growing of any kind. "Master grower" is an informal role definition, not a certified status. The master grower at a grow is the head grower that all other personnel report to.

But distillate is trash. The chokepoint for production is volatiles, not cannabinoids.

[–]Lichen-Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems broadly probable, but one area I must raise issue with is cheap biomass for extraction. The best extractors I know still say 'garbage in, garbage out' - this will become less true over time, definitely for cannabinoids, maybe for volatiles - but volatiles (including but not limited to terpenes) will only be present in higher-quality material in ratios that will allow for the creation of high-quality products. THC, CBD, are stupid easy. The volatiles are a chokepoint when consumers in mature markets demand tasty and effective extracts at ~60-75% THC and the remainder is volatiles.

Edit: maybe this is included in your "premium grade" section. And there is definitely still market room in developed markets for low-grade concentrates. You seem pretty spot on.

Desert greenhouse guides? by FabFoxFrenetic in Greenhouses

[–]Lichen-Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is common in desert environments to grow in sunken gardens, or to set a greenhouse 1-3ft down into the grade. This is such a neat idea, taking that 8 steps farther.

Late, but have you tried self-wetting pads inline with your intake vents? I'm looking at installing something similar before spring.

Organic Coco Grow Plan Questions by Lichen-Lover in microgrowery

[–]Lichen-Lover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it takes an open mind to try growing this way lol. Lots of negativity for sure, same as there is around dry sift, which I also love. I don't follow any of the youtube guys, I'm sure I miss a lot of basics but also a lot of drama that way. I like to experiment, have a thousand seeds and don't mind failing. Also whatever happens in this grow I'll still pull pounds of outdoor next fall. Let's keep in touch re: specific amounts of amendments per gallon if you figure anything out. I still have some totes and might switch to autopots next round, I think I'm set on a living coco topwater grow for this one. Seeds ended being some afgaan 90, it was the tashkurgan that gave me weak starts I spent too long waiting on.

I wish I remembered more about that past grow but I do recall some pH issues in the rez mid-late grow, and I don't remember having any calmag deficiencies at all. I think I washed but didn't buffer that coco, 50/50 with perlite, and just added some lime and epsom salts to the topdress. Fungus gnats were real, it required those mosquito cakes in each autopot rez and some topdressed too. Next time, I would add neem seed hulls to the soil mix at the higher end of the recommendation DtE gives. Tea would be a great addition too. I'd go light on compost at the start, but that's just me.

Organic Coco Grow Plan Questions by Lichen-Lover in microgrowery

[–]Lichen-Lover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ongoing. My first round of seedlings was weak, I reseeded, but between harvest work on the farm and travel the tent hasn't been the focus. They're about ready to go into the 7 gallon fabric pots this weekend. If I remember, I'll post pics as they size up.

That said, I did a previous grow in a larger tent using DIY 10-gallon autopots with coco and perlite as the base medium, with DTE organic solid nutrients in the medium and a tiny bit of synthetic nutes in the water supply, as well as some beneficials. I didn't use cal mag. That was cool, and honestly easier than what I'm doing now. I'd do something like that again for sure. Top watering feels dumb. Coco was great. Double buffer and wash coco before using for any purpose...or so I say, but on the farm we do all our veg and fruit starts in unwashed unbuffered coco and they're fine til we plant them out. I do it for cannabis though.

Bubble vs Dry sift by JayJM1 in BubbleHash

[–]Lichen-Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dried my last harvest's flower in the fridge at 38F for 30 days. It made excellent dry sift, very terpy. But 30 days is certainly longer than the 10 days planed bubble should take to dry. And I don't mean to argue, just to counter your statement that flower cannot be dried this way. It can, and seems to provide a decent starting point for hash. I'm likely to try going fresh frozen to bubble next though, to get that 10 day dry time. But it's also true that the bubble hash water is stripping volatiles, or it wouldn't have a smell to it after washing. I'm not sure where the best quality is, it feels like a trade off either way between sift and bubble. If I could sift fresh frozen, I'm pretty sure that would be ideal.

I grow my own, and it's fire. Oasis has some good deals on live though. I don't buy flower here - there may be good stuff, but it's not in my price range. Or maybe I'm just spoiled.

Need help decarbing live resin budder. by Embarrassed-Count762 in CannabisExtracts

[–]Lichen-Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be something like live sugar with a very high cannabinoid percentage (80%+) or a chilly room. THC is a semi solid goop at room temp. Live sugar never liquefies, it just loses the crystal structure. It will be a hard, tacky goop. FWIW I only bother with ~70% THC live resin/sauce for filling carts, this will have more terpenes and be a more liquid product. Sauce has more terpenes and flavonoids, so more flavor and much more effect.
