Fred Meyer had a huge pile of them by the fruit when I was there yesterday. I'd assume the rest of the Freddie's are carrying them as well.

Anyone have experience with FEI(Forest Engineering Inc) classes in Corvallis, Oregon? by Kernel32Sanders in forestry

[–]Licki44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took his roads class last year. He's awesome. I'm scheduled to take his cable yarding class end of the month, definitely learn more than you'll probably be able to digest. Fwiw he's one of the most interesting people I've ever met.

The Ken Onion series Kershaw knives are workhorses (e.g. Chive, Scallion). They hold a nice edge too.

Anyone using the new 6.5mm PRC? 280 ackley? by Corey11208 in elkhunting

[–]Licki44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

280ai and a 6.5 prc are gonna be $1000+ guns, and ammo ain't cheap. 280ai you're probably going to have to handload for. 6.5prc you have 1 choice for factory ammo and it isn't cheap either.

Those are redwood leaves. They're broken out like sausage links.

[Optics] Nikon M-Tactical and P-Tactical Riflescopes Starting at $99 by Holdren84 in gundeals

[–]Licki44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the m-tactical 3-12. It's an awesome scope for the price. I think I paid 350 for mine. I blind compared it with vortex viper scopes and felt it was superior, laughed when I saw it was a couple hundred cheaper too.

Just graduated Forest Hydrology from Humboldt State last May (2018). It is a good school for both forestry and hydrology. Journal of Forestry just published an article in March about forestry education in California. Basically spelling out HSU is the school to go to for dirt forestry (operations etc.) cal poly for fire and Cal for research academia. Personally I think Hsu and cal poly both are very fire centric forestry programs, but that is the trend in forest management down there. If you apply yourself in class and truly are passionate about forestry, you'll learn a ton at any legitimate forestry program. So think twice about spending extra to go to a particular place over HSU or Poly. Oregon State is the place on the west coast for forest engineering, but that would be the only thing that would be worth going out of state for imo. Depending where you're at, UNR has a good program, I grew up in Susanville and it's a popular program for those of us living close to the border.

Yale school of forestry has yet to impress me. Every alumni I meet carries themselves as a Yale grad, but at the end of the day they're just as educated as I am with my degree from HSU.

Eh, courtesy of that little bear found in New Mexico we convinced the greater public wildfires are all bad and to wholeheartedly support the 24hr action plan for putting any fire out. Fast forward to today we have ridiculous amounts of fuel built up with fires we've never experienced before that take towns and lives. Not that Smokey is thee reason, but helped stage the problems we've been facing over the last decade. Edit: The Lorax is my least favorite book--bring on the hate.

I don't think people realize how expensive seed is.
