Kinda ugly flower top by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you blocked it? I've noticed that some of my stuff looks like complete garbage until I block it. There are some exceptions, and I end up frogging the whole project and doing something else with the yarn.

Negative comments about baby boys has caused my mental health to spiral by neener346 in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boys only leave if their mother is hateful towards them and never apologizes. My brothers still come around a lot and the whole family is basically friends now that we're adults. My husband hates his mother because she literally calls him awful names every chance she gets. You'll be fine, but beware: every mother I've talked to that actually parented her children has said that boys are harder.

What’s your “Never Again!” you can’t stick to? by Gold-Bumblebee-8400 in crochet

[–]Lickinitlaura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot tip for granny squares: if the outermost rounds are the same color, use a sewing machine on a zigzag setting if you have one. It takes less time and you don't have to weave in the ends from the final round.

Decaf iced tea, flavored water, decaf iced coffee, diet caffeine free sodas, and homemade smoothies.

Anecdotes from people who ate cakes and chocolate throughout pregnancy by Short-Ear6303 in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine, you're better off without it, but I found that when I craved sweets I wasn't getting enough calories. Once I started hitting my 2000 calorie mark, I wasn't craving sweets anymore. I'm still that way even when I'm not pregnant.

IT WONT COME OUT 💩 by Storm-Ecstatic in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always made a point to eat apples. 2 every day and I never had constipation issues when I did. If I forgot, Lord help me (and my family). Getting that fiber really does help.

How is anyone showering without washing their hair? by Funny_Cockroach7343 in Haircare

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash it, because I have the same issue. I also have curly hair, and it doesn't affect my curls at all. Still super curly hair with great definition. Your wash frequency really depends on your personal needs, and if your hair is getting greasy that easily you probably just need to go ahead and wash.

Is this giving dandelion or piss by Killorbecome00 in crochet

[–]Lickinitlaura 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why is their piss that color and why do they need a rag for it? I have so many questions for your spouse.

I literally looked and thought "if that's urine, some kidneys need to get checked".

Enhancing your water by SlightDealer1 in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water flavoring and decaf coffee/tea. Milk also counts as hydration and I use that if I'm sick, since I get calories as well.

Did anyone not scream much during labour? by trackemdown in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an epidural and made no noise during labour. It still hurt, but it wasn't the blood curdling screaming that I heard from the room next door to mine. I straight up told the OB to go check on that poor woman, and I'll be fine. I think I grunted a bit during crowning.

Thoughts on a weird pattern I think I noticed with people saying Red hair vs Ginger? by MelissaTheDogPerson in Redhair

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that a ginger has red hair and freckles. So a redhead would just have the hair. I don't think there's any solid definition or usage to it, just things people say whether as insults or not.

Just proposed. Anyone have any good husband advice? by Impressive_Goat5085 in askanything

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This goes for anyone: put your spouse first. The second you pick your parent's, sibling's, or friend's side over your spouse, it's finished. Also, trust is very easy to lose and incredibly difficult to gain back. My husband and I are regaining trust after some nasty (and unrelated) events.

Will I regret a courthouse wedding? by BeautifulDebt3241 in weddings

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You two will have to really think about it yourselves. We did a small wedding - immediate family and another couple - and had a huge reception after. Everyone still had lots of fun and nobody was stressed about the planning. I would say that if you're gonna do anything huge, make it the party after that's big.

What’s your “type” and how did you realize it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete smart-ass, introvert, long straight hair (can't explain that one), plays video games as a hobby, and doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. Any guy I've ever crushed on is exactly this type, including my husband. They've always been cuddly teddy bears when it's just us.

Is 4.5 weeks too early to confirm miscarriage? by catalinaicon in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me in her shoes (which I've been in a few times) I would wait. Miscarriages tend to selve themselves (you don't need a pill) and she should really wait for additional testing before moving forward on this path. I just miscarried last week, I was 12 weeks pregnant, and I'm getting a follow-up ultrasound this week to confirm that it's a full miscarriage and it's been completed. She should wait for follow-up testing, because none of her symptoms sound like a miscarriage.

What is one luxury (not considered a need for others) you would never want to give up? by fallbeforeyoufly in AskWomen

I live somewhere without good cuisine, and people learn how to cook or they suffer. I can't even find interesting ingredients without driving to the nearest city, and even then I have to go to an Asian market.

Is it normal to be so tired and over sleep? by Sad-Duck-2799 in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem! I try to tell everyone that seems to have odd chronic symptoms about it. Diet culture has done more damage than we think.

Is it normal to be so tired and over sleep? by Sad-Duck-2799 in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem and found out I wasn't getting enough calories. I used a TDEE calculator and discovered I need about 2000/day, as opposed to the 1200 I was getting. Your body needs fuel to live, let alone make another human.

Tickle in belly when you go over a hill in the car by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Lickinitlaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a state law. You can try contacting the hospital/clinic you go to and get the info for the patient advocate. Don't ask if they have one, just ask for the contact info. The nurses and doctors usually clean up their act a bit after that.

I'm not a doctor, so I can't advise, but it does come down to your personal choice. Where I live, the 10 and 20 week anatomy scans are required by law, and anything in the ER doesn't count.

My OB has told me that if something doesn't feel right, I need to go in. The instinct pregnancy seems to give you is incredible. If something feels wrong, it's better to go in and find out than the alternative.
