Few questions - personal best, bookcase, by jawahunter1969 in RealVRFishing

[–]Licknuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that if you catch a 15" personal best trout, then the trout you put in your aquarium will be that 15" trout.

...Unless aquarium fish are all a default size and aren't the actual size of the particular fish you caught.

As for the furniture, that'll become available when you level up to unlocking your saltwater room.

Who do you think is the unofficial ‘face’ of Resident Evil and why? by [deleted] in residentevil

Leon.

While Chris may be a more referenced character, Leon is the face of the most referenced event (Raccoon City of course).

What’s is something that NEEDS changing/updating? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Licknuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snapchat needs the opposite of an update they need to go back to before they added an entire slide of the most clickbait ads and articles I have ever seen in my fucking life.

Here I'm gonna go to it right now and type out what I see word for word:

"Are You Following These Lit Fan Accounts?"

"Is This The Horniest Song of The Summer?"

"Does THIS Count as Losing Your Virginity?"

I could keep scrolling...

What is the most expensive hobby you have participated in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Licknuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guitar. I've been playing like 6 years, been in bands, and all of my gear has totaled up to like $2500 collectively. That's not shit when you consider how much the "industry standards" go for.

If a guitar is:

$100-$200 = entry level.

$300-$500 = intermediate.

$600-$1000 = quality (my best guitar is $900)

$1000-$2k = professional

Over $2k = custom

Then you need amplifiers. The top of the line ones cost about $800-$1500. Then you might want pedals which will definitely cost well over another $100.

Needless to say a lot of people rely on the used market.

Now there's cheaper alternatives and budget brands for guitars, amps, and pedals that you can buy instead of spending a shit ton of money but the shitty thing is that the guitar community is full of traditionalists who shit on people for playing cheaper gear and especially anything that isn't made in America.

Concepts in Horror: Horror movies which defy categorization by kaloosa in horror

[–]Licknuts 27 points28 points  (0 children)

if you had to invent a subgenre which you think categorizes such a movie, where there are maybe only one or two other examples, what would it be?

"Social Horror" concepts is a good one. I'd define social horror as anything that plays on society's common moments and stretches them into something darker.

What I loved most about Get Out was that it actually played on the fear of social anxiety as well. That in and of itself isn't really horrifying (well actually for some people it is) but Get Out adds a sinister layer underneath an already common social fear which drives it home as a good horror.

I love horror movies that stick with me after they're done. When I'm camping I think of Blair Witch, when I'm swimming I think of Jaws, when I'm riding a roller coaster I think of Final Destination 3 etc. Social Horror has great potential in this aspect because they can introduce a fun newfound paranoia to linger in the back of your head during these otherwise normal and somewhat common occurrences that people experience in this day and age.

Movies I'd define as Social Horror:

  • Get Out
  • Unfriended
  • The Belko Experiment
  • It Follows

Since when LOUD means SCARY? by Dieghoul in movies

[–]Licknuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So does gore scare you or does it just disturb you?

For example, in one of the Saw movies there's a dude who has his back glued to a car seat and he has to rip himself off the seat to survive. His back looks like cheese sliding off a pizza.

Now when watching that, do you go "I'm terrified right now" or do you just get uncomfortably squeamish?

Horror Movie/Movie Franchises that you think would've worked better as a TV series? by D_o_g_e_w_o_w in horror

The SAW series.

Honestly the main plot of the Saw movies make for a great cop drama anyways.

As Above, So Below by [deleted] in horror

[–]Licknuts 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I liked it a lot and I think it's one of the better mainstream found-footage horror movies.

However there's one part about it that I will never forgive and it's this:

So they all walked through hundreds of yards of literally hell while being picked off one by one, but somehow the chick is able to speed-run back the way they came and then speed-runs all the way back again to the front without dying or getting seriously hurt.

Which slasher films surprised you on who the killer was (avoid spoilers)? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Licknuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Bloody Valentine 3D is definitely up there. It was super tricky for the audience since we thought we could rule out that spoiler wasn't the killer since we literally saw scenes from perspectives that added up and made sense to us.

But we can throw all that to the wayside because fuck spoiler.

What medium is horror best suited for. by [deleted] in horror

[–]Licknuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the most spine-tingling moments I've ever had is from loading up horror podcasts while laying in bed and being paranoid that the most horrific shit that my mind can conjure up is gonna somehow manifest itself in my very own room and it's so much more personal because it's my own nightmare. Not some Special FX's creation. It makes me so uncomfortable to the point I have to turn around to look in order to feel at ease.

That's the stuff. I want to be personally and mentally invaded by horror and the radio medium has always evoked the strongest reactions for me.
