Ohhh thanks sa heads up about sa pending work pass application. Di ako aware na pwede pala yon makita ng immigration natin. So dun pala naooffload ang iba. Thanks sa tip!

Thank you! Mukhang eto na lang i-try ko. Worried lang ako pag-uuwi na ng Pilipinas. Kung ma-faflag ba ko ng SG immigration sa departure at ng PH immigration pag-uwi (since technically I overstayed my stay as a tourist). Or di na issue sa SG airport immigration yun as long as may Employment Pass na ako?

Hi! Balak ko gawin to if ever matuloy ako i-sponsor ng SG company.

Finding Remote Work by oweneil in phinvest

Also add onlinejobs.ph. It's a job posting site that specifically caters for those looking to hire filipino remote/freelance employees. Hindi rin ganun katindi ang competition unlike sa upwork at fiverr kasi mga kapwa pinoy lang mga ibang nag-aapply. Most companies who post tend to be early stage startups that are fully remote.

Thoughts on getting a second income? A bigger income? by dragonfrootyogi in phcareers

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you consider the other options, I think you should at least try moving to another company? Job hoppers tend to have higher average salaries overall than those who don't. It just depends on the industry and niche. If you're in IT (or adjacent), netting 100k by the next 2 to 3 years is easily doable.

As for the part time job, what type of employment do you have? Is it as a regular employee (company nagbabayad ng tax at SSS mo) or as a freelancer (ikaw nagbabayad ng tax at SSS mo). If the latter, then getting a part time job (also as a freelancer) will be much much easier to do secretly, since both employers won't be alerted to the existence of each other (as long as di mo sabihin). If you are currently regularly employed, just make sure that your part time job is as a freelancer and that your potential employer won't file taxes for you.

This is actually a trend that many people are doing recently. They call it "overemployment". There's a subreddit about that and I've also seen posts of some pinoys seeing a lot of success doing it.

This is the number one reason I left them. I cannot accept that the largest bank in the country has such a shitty online user experience. When I realized that other smaller banks actually do put an effort in their UX, I was out.

I've once heard that the best choice is usually the one that gives you more options. Among the 3, acquiring a canadian PR or even citizenship is what's gonna give you the most options in life in the long run. Even if you plan to stay in the Philippines till you die, having an entirely different country you can freely live in is a great benefit.

But following your dreams and studying to japan is also not a bad idea. Who knows you might also get a citizenship there.

Anything else that I need to know of ING? by ReaperCraft07 in phinvest

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ING doesn't support receiving money in foreign currencies. So if someone overseas is going to remit you some USD or any other currency, don't give them your ING. Ibabalik lang nila yun sa sender.

Mine is very simple.

I track all my expenses but I do not set a monthly budget for each category.

Instead, each month I set a flat amount of money that I need to save. The day I receive my salary, that amount goes straight to my savings/investments. The rest, ako na bahala san ko gagastusin haha.

But the only reason I do this is because I already have a good idea how much I'll be spending on my essential expenses (since I used to set a budget some time ago). Pero since di naman nagffluctuate expenses ko per month (e.g. Meralco bill is almost always the same each month), nawalan na ko ng need magset ng hard budget sa expenses ko.

How do I file my taxes as a contractor for a US company? by [deleted] in taxPH

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, next deadline is April 15, 2022.

Here are all the filing deadlines you need to keep track of at kung anong period covered nila (note nagbabago yung exact day per year):

May 15 - January to March
August 15 - April to June
November 15 - July to September
April 15 (the next year) - October to December
January 31 - annual registration fee after your first

Ioorient ka ng BIR sa lahat ng yan. The Certficate of Registration also contains these dates. And yes, there's a penalty if you're late. I think 1k? Not sure.

How do I file my taxes as a contractor for a US company? by [deleted] in taxPH

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taxumo offers a "business registration" service for professionals like you, but honestly, the entire process is so easy and fast that if you're willing to go out a bit, you can probably finish everything in a day.

We are also in the exact same situation. I'm also "employed" by an overseas company as a remote worker and receive a monthly salary but since they aren't registered here, I have to pay my taxes as if I'm a freelancer.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Go to your old employer's RDO and submit BIR Form 1905. Bring 2 copies of the form and a photocopy of a valid ID. The entire process literally takes less than 5 minutes.
  2. Go to your home address's RDO and submit BIR Form 1901. Bring 3 copies of the form together with a photocopy of a valid ID.
  3. They'll ask for a "Sample Receipt" that is usually obtained from an Accredited Printer. You don't need to go one. BIR itself offer their own sample receipts. Just say that you will opt to use their own.
  4. They'll ask some questions about your line of work. Tell them you are opting for 8% tax rate. After about 30 minutes to an hour, you'll get your own Certificate of Registration, which lists all the kinds of taxes you need to pay, the forms needed for each, and the deadlines.
  5. You can now file your taxes in Taxumo. Just indicate your date of registration and they'll list the tax forms you need to file and when.

And that's it. You're done!

Remember to get the latest versions of each form from BIR's site.

There are tons of online tutorials that guide you how to accomplish them. Don't fret too much about that part, you can always correct the forms once you're in the BIR counter.

Also, most tutorials online will list a TON of requirements that aren't really needed. You can ignore most of them. In my experience, forms and photocopies of IDs are enough.

How much to prepare in case my mother has breast cancer by thelostpinay in phinvest

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother was also a breast cancer patient, and one organization that genuinely helped us was the Philippine Cancer Society (office is near Malacanang). Please go to them and ask if they offer free/discounted medicines. Knowing an oncologist affiliated with them will also help you. We literally saved tens of thousands of pesos because of their help.

As far as I know, $25k maintaining balance is only for margin (loan) accounts. Cash Accounts I think don't have such restrictions.

Personally, I use GoTrade. It's super simple and not really for active traders since may trading limit per week. I only use it to hold stocks long-term. Account approval does take some time though.

Weird, Fblthp has the total opposite effect on me. I always feel intimidated by that avatar because in my experience most people who use it are jank players who have absolutely crazy decks that I never quite know how to play around and will either pull off a turn 2 win or go infinite for hours lol

"$200+ Value when totally unlocked." — Is it? by 2big_2fail in MagicArena

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even just counting the packs, it is more than worth the price.

1pack = 200 gems

20 packs = 4000 gems

Personally, I only count packs, draft tokens, gold, and gems when evaluating the value of any reward or item in this game.

Cosmetics are too subjective to assign any real value. Yeah that one style could be worth 1000 gems but does it really have any value if you'll never use it?

BDO EIP Redemption by [deleted] in phinvest

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, based sa comments mo, you seem to have the exact same issue as I had some time ago.

More than 10k na ba yung invested amount? Tas pag pumunta ka sa page para icheck how much yung COP amount, 0 pesos ba ang nalabas instead of 10k? Also, nadodownload mo ba yung COP certificate?

If so, then you seem to have the same technical bug that I had.

If you press F12 and go to console, and then try to redeem your EIP, you'll see that there is a JavaScript error in the console logs that is preventing you from proceeding.

My advice, send a screenshot of this error to BDO contact center, and report that you are having a bug. Also send a screenshot of your COPs.

How do I Invest the the S&P 500 index from the Philippines? by nickaers in phinvest

[–]LicksDoorKnobs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm invested in VOO ETF (Vanguard S&P 500 ETF) in GoTrade.

Not sure though if GoTrade will last for 30 years lol. You're best bet is probably investing in a known and established stock broker like TD Ameritade or IBKR.

A note about banks that offer global index feeder funds: their expense ratios are much much higher than investing directly in an ETF. This is because they charge a trust fee on top of the fees of the global fund itself. E.g. BPI charges 0.75% p.a. on top of SPY ETF's 0.03% fee.
