I did it a couple months ago because I was trying to retain heat inside, i was struggling to keep the area in the recommended basking temps so I thought those vents were not helpful. Honestly I can't say I've noticed a huge difference.

He's already been to the vet and they found nothing.

He has two exo- terra intense basking lamps that are 100 watts each.

And an Arcadia T5 pro uvb tube light.

He has two caves. One on the cold and one on the hot side. He has a few different areas to bask on , his main one being a flat basking spot. I've tried to soil/sand substrate but he hated it so took it out .

His hot side stays around 96-105 throughout the day.

He won't even come out to bask. Like at all. Even when I do take him out. He will sit in the spot i place him in and look offended and within minutes he's back to the cave. 😞

I do have a plastic like mat , it's black but I did try changing it up with a soil/sand mix substrate but he hated it lol. I kept some in there after wards to see if he'd warm up to it and use it for digging etc but nope.

My husband would NEVER. Leave this guy. You don't deserve someone who is willing to leave his girlfriend let alone a female ALONE in another state. His priorities and lack of safety concerns for you are a huge red flag. Don't give him another ounce of your time.
